To anyone watching this series. I am at episode 11 and this is the first video series I have watched. When you get to where I am you will be able to tackle your own 308 project and will have enjoyed the journey. No rock music, no useless product placements and honest hammering, cussing and head scratching typical of wiring through previously attempted repairs and honest wear and tear analysis that accurately show what a thorough rebuild looks like.nwe all wish were were this good. Plus he is a good character in a sea of "personalities".

Amazing really , the work of a mechanic. Watching such things makes u appreciate a little the amount u get charged for work when your motor goes in.

Very nicely done video and well edited. I've pulled a few 308 engines and it looks like you figured out most of it first time around. My only observations would be to leave the carbs on as they do not get in the way and are easier to remove with the engine out. Once sorted these are very robust and reliable engines. I look forward to following your progress.

@@LouTrottier I figured they needed re-building. As it happens we are only a few KM away from one another (small world). Message me if you need any 308 info. I have lots of data and experience including carb setup work using O2 sensors and road testing to get the jets perfect.

I'm in the middle of pulling the engine from my '79 and I appreciate the video. I did this once before 35 years ago and don't remember much other than agonizing over a bolt holding the dip stick. Why did you pull the muffler? It's not in the way that I can see.

Gotta love engine hoists: why do they make them all with square wheels and casters that don't roll or pivot? lol.....I pulled my first motor in 1975 or so, technology on engine hoists hasn't changed ONE iota since then.
