I hear what you're saying about defense off the dribble being a problem more than off ball physicality problems, but I think that is more in big picture and metrics. If you look at the game flow, it's a different story. Second half Butler was back down 12 or 14, and they turned up the off ball defensive physicality (grabbing, holding, pushing). UConn's offense went from clicking to clunking. Suddenly, it was down to a 4 or 5 point lead. The officiating in the Memphis game was equally exasperating. In both games, Hurley was understandably exasperated, and he's prone to losing it. So, I'm not shocked.
Hurley has been screaming at officials for a long time and clearly thinks it is not getting him calls. He still thinks the calls are going against him. So any normal logical person would say screaming at the officials isn't working so I will stop. But he has no self control.
Those after dark comments were over the top and not good takes. Hurley has been run from games. If Hurley scared anyone, UConn would get a more favorable whistle. UConn is in a large market, they've had success, and Hurley is entertaining. The camera sticks on him, and he's under a microscope. I don't think Cooley has a vastly different demeanor, but other guys don't get this kind of scrutiny. These two over the line/ headline moments (Memphis and Butler) there was a similarly strange whistle disparity. Hurley was exasperated and lost self-control. If you lose the microscope, he's not that different from so many coaches. Just stop with these takes, and besides... are you not entertained?
Hurley was fine last night. The officiating was awful last night. I don’t care if Hurley is praising them. I’m tired of the excuses in all sports. Refs/Umps should answer questions until then I’m tired of them being coddled by talking heads.
@@edwardreynolds3242 How would it help if officials answered questions? What questions do you want answered? It's a tough job, which anybody would understand if they tried to run up and down the floor with college athletes for 5 minutes.
He wasn't crying, he was understandably exasperated by the factual whistle disparity. He made an observation. Did you watch the game? UConn made some clear fouls (Hurley admitted) and made some mistakes. The biggest factor in this game was undisputably disparity in how the game was called.
@ its like this All the time! He even chirped at Edey during the NC game, for what? Edey set a 100% legal screen…he is a great coach but is greatness is being diminished daily. Good thing these refs are not angry or seeking revenge.
@edalbanese6310 I'm not sure you were actually watching either game. If you take the time to look at that Edey replay, he literally had one foot on the ground and was turning his shoulder into the screen. His body was sort of vertical, but he wasn't set. It was a hard pick because he was moving... that's a foul, and Edey didn't like Hurley defending his player to the refs. Edey says something to Hurley, and Hurley responded. You can see it clearly in the replay. What coach isn't going to complain about a hard moving screen? Hurley is clearly expressive, passionate, and occasionally has gone a little overboard... like so many other coaches. He gets more attention because he's successful and entertaining (the cameras know it). If you're not a UConn fan, then you're bound to hate that he's passionate, brutaly honest, and good at his job.
@edalbanese6310 if you're going to try to make a point... it helps to be accurate. He wasn't blaming the refs after they lost a game. They won, Maybe that's what you don't like.
He's right. Look at the foul discrepancies. Targeted referring, which is already horrible, absent of bias. It does not keep up the level of play. Calling it out will add to the bias but someone has to do it. Steamroll charge now allowed is just stupid not in the rule book and ruining the game.
Love what I saw from Alex last night

@@Hanseyscheme Yeah, that's it.
Love Hurley. The game was lacking fun characters like this for a long time.
What's fun about watching a grown man scream at officials and act like a toddler? Does the game of basketball bore you?

Bobby hurley is worse. He reminds me of a toddler throwing a tantrum at Walmart because he couldn't get a toy.
First of all Bobby Hurley doesn’t coach Uconn
Hurley is so out of control he needs to be humbled

So basically I did not win therefore its the refs fault says hurley cry baby
