      At the time, I listened to Rachmaninoff's Tarantella from Suite No. 2 a lot, so I think I was quite inspired by it.

    This has a very chopin-like feeling, and as much as i dislike chopin this is quite intresting. 7/10
    I think it would be intresting if you had a randomness-type feel with the pedal. But I do wish you would make something more contemporary like ravel. Looking forward to your advancement in skill!
    Like @Burstz-qp3dh said. I think this would be more fit as a coda to a longer piece instead of an etude.

    Amazing for a first piece!
    Though: "music is the space between the notes" - Debussy
    Some chords or accent, but almost a constant flow of 16ths. Calmer moment where it's suddenly dotted quarter notes but a bit on the nose that you are trying to do a calm section to contrast. If to be as intense as possible, many pieces don't do that and are, like hammered chords in the end of Mozart operas or that chords call for a resolution or that accents are used. If applying harmony, it's not everything. To put it simply: if everything is intense, nothing is. Seemingly constant rhythms like Beethoven fifth symphony actually has that pause after and fur elise ends sentences to continue them from the bass if you look at the sheet.
    But it's just my take, It's just that since it's your first piece I suppose you'd probably want feedback.

  • @muffinrl
    @muffinrl 8 місяців тому +11

    I think you have some very cool ideas, and the way you use harmony is really interesting. However, I would personally prefer it if you made your pieces playable. I feel like you as a composer might also benefit by writing a piece that does not rely on virtuosity for musical effect. That way, it will feel like your music has more intention.
    This comes from a place of goodwill, I really want to see you grow, and I support your music. Keep it up!

      @pentyne0 I think a big theme is your placement of double stops. It's quite obvious that the point of this etude is dexterity in both hands with a lot of contraction and expansion in motion. However, looking at the first three measures, that run down in 6ths in msr2 is extremely hard at the given tempo. I'm sure that some super proficient pianists could play that but it just feels a bit out of place. The next measure (msr 3) has a double stop jump in the left hand, once again, probably not impossible but it feels unnecessarily hard. The right hand in measure 3 flows nicely, it fits the hand but still asks you to play it with a certain level of technique.
      I would try to maybe stay away from double stops in the left hand as much as possible in these fast kind of runs. The octaves mostly work I think but I haven't played through the whole piece yet.
      Another thing I would maybe consider reflecting on is your dynamic contrast. The piece is really loud and that loudness kind of loses its impact when the whole A section is fff.

    Hello Pentyne. I want your permission to use your midi files from musescore to create a trello board for virtual piano sheet and for my own use. I will credit you and list you as the composer for them. If you dont know what they are, it is like sheets that you play with a computer keyboard by itself. Thanks for your reply if you do.
