This is helpful to see how you leave the mid-tone of the image to be represented by the paper. Very effective!

Tysm! When I use white charcoal and black I get a subtle blue cast when they mix. can I fix it?
Yes, try to separate the charcoal, toned paper and the white chalk, not to mix them, so it won't create the blue cast tone.
I like drawing with any paper that is not white paper bc of the option to create highlights.
Yes, that's a benefit using toned paper.
