You can take comfort in the fact that it won't be the dots or the slugs that'll get the remaining Finetimers. It'll be each other going full on Lord Of The Flies the moment they come to realise they don't have the first idea about what they need to do.

If you watch again, you may see that Lindy is rude to both Ruby and the Doctor, but she does treat the Doctor differently.
She blocks him immediately but listens to Ruby. Reason you can think this is nothing: He comes in with the monster warning while Ruby comes in with a cover story.
She freaks out when she finds out Ruby and the Doctor are in the same room together while she works in a room with other people.
She realizes the Doctor is the same man she blocked before -- "I thought you just looked the same" -- all of them "look alike."
She tells her friends she knows it's "wrong" and he (the Doctor) will be "disciplined" after, and she will "enjoy" his being "disciplined," but they should listen to him and that he's not "as stupid as he looks." Why does she want him disciplined for helping her? What about him looks stupid? Yes, she called Ruby stupid too, but she didn't say she "looked" stupid.
There are just a lot of little things ("microaggressions," really) like that, which people can explain away individually but which add up.
This episode uses social media as a red herring but is really about racism.

The Bubble (and the images on display) were in constant rotation. Your brain would interpret that as if you are spinning. That's why Lindy always veered to the side, but it was only temporary.
If you don't know what I mean, spin around 10 times then try to walk a straight line - you'll get it. :-)

The slugs were basically remote controlled by the dots.
Dots say 'kill A' to the slug and 'move right into the slug' to Person A' -> Person A is eaten by slug.
Anyone else is just ignored by slug.
As we can see dots could simply kill their owners, so I guess they wanted to see their humans suffer while being eaten alive.

The racism is sprinkled throughout. Lindy is always rude to The Doctor, while tolerating g Ruby. She was horrified at Ruby and The Doctor being in the same room. OK, hear me out: even if you lived in finetime world, you would still be able to use your legs without the bubble... BUT, the concept isn't wrong at all, just wasn't conveyed well. If you dig into the neuroscience behind it, it's absolutely possible she would have serious difficulties, but not outright fall over or clearly turn when trying to walk straight. the way your brain learns things and performs certain actions isn't exactly super general, sometimes certain skills are tied to very specific things. one great example of this is a video by Smarter every day called "The backwards brain bike" where he goes over practical examples of this. in fact, those things get less and less flexible as we age, and someone who spent their entire live on that VR bubble just wouldn't have the same spacial awareness of someone who actually sees things more than 2ft away from their face. just the fact that she had to think on how to look _beyond_ the bubble already tells you she just never thought of it before.
As I said, the portrayal was a bit too stupid, I don't think messing with her sense of direction was the right call, whist having her run into things like the pole and forgetting to dodge furniture and hitting her knee on the table seems like it would be a better way of showing it. she is used to have something avoiding obstacles _for_ her, so she just wouldn't think of avoiding potholes and light poles and stuff. also maybe having her do a sort of drunk, swaying walk would likely be more realistic than outright being unable to walk on a straight line. And the part where she learned pretty fast once she had Ricky, it would absolutely happen exactly like this. in a couple minutes, her brain would get used to it, and the struggling would mostly fade.

And though we are not seeing it in VR and don't have enough of our field of view covered by it, my mom got motion sickness just watching it. it didn't even registered for me that the bubble is always spinning, and if it switched off, there would be some lingering motion sickness for a few seconds or minutes while she adapts to not having a rotating background all around her

There were soooo many overt and subtle signs of racism and prejudice scattered throughout the episode:
    1. Lindy was revolted and blocked the Doctor when he first appeared on her feed.
    2. Lindy didnt block Ruby. She was more receptive to Ruby when she appeared on her feed. Lindy spoke to Ruby and believed her over the Doctor.
    3. When the Doctor appeared for the second time on her feed, Lindy asked him if the monsters "have something to do with you" (she didnt ask Ruby this, just the Doctor)
    4. Lindy told her groupcall to listen to the Doctor and that "i know this is wrong and after this is all over he will be so disciplined, i cant wait, and he doesn't look as stupid as he looks" (of course due to the color of his skin)
    5. No person of color lived in Finetime
    6. Lindy was shocked to learn that Ruby and the Doctor were in the same room together in such close proximity
    7. Lindy told the Doctor "Didnt I block you? I knew it. I just thought you looked the same, but you're the same person I blocked. I was so right to hate you." (Implying all black people look the same)
    8. When they met, Lindy told Ruby and the Doctor "Gosh, you two, this is strange." (meaning a white and black person working together)
    9. And a few more microagressions towards the Doctor before they met in the final scene AND in the final scene where the racism got blatant.

I think it's fair that if you're not used to using your body in a certain way, it can be an issue when you need to -- like if the lights go out in your house at night and you have to move in the dark, so you're finding your way by touching the walls and trying to avoid things by memory. I think most people do that better than Lindy walks without the arrows (at first), but it's not totally out of line. Okay, it's a little out of line, but Lindy is not very bright.

    Hi Jake 👋😊
Long comment ahead sorry I am a bit of a gobshite 😂
To answer Two things you said.
    1) Susan Twist was in the 60th anniversary episodes well one she was in Wild Blue Yonder at the beginning, she was Isaac Newton's housekeeper 😊
    2) The slug creatures were created and controlled by the AI dots. My view why they did this and didn't use the dots themselves is to do ot slowly and get rid of the evidence as they did on the Homeworld. To stop people realising what was happening and switching the AI off. Also alphabetical order is because they are still a computer and even sentient their programming thinks logically ifygwim?
I saw someone comment elsewhere that if they are in the bubble all day their coordination would be off because of some sense being affected can't remember which one tho sorry 😐
If you rewatch the episode you will see many subtle hints of the racism but I have to confess I didn't see the racism even at the end until I saw a review of it and I was horrified I didn't see it 😢
I did have to have a good delve into myself because I loathe racism or any prejudice of any kind and didn't see it I thought it was the elitism.
My partner suggested it's because I don't see colour only character. I think now a big part of it is because I have created my own bubble but mine consists of people who don't judge etc. also I don't do any social media except UA-cam (slowly stopped since Brexit finally left them all after covid) and if there is any hint on a channel they have any kind of prejudice I block them with zero tolerance.
I am a wheelchair user and have 3 special needs children so should really have spotted signs of any prejudice having been on the recieving end too many times.
I loved this episode, hated Lindy and called her a bitch for killing Ricky 😂😂
Last but not least I LOVE Peter Capaldi he is the doctor I feel the most connected too his kindness and that speech 💬 was awesome I miss his Doctor but am loving Ncuti so far.

    Think Nazi Barbie
The clues were there but RTD did a very clever move the racism was there
    1. Her disgust they were in the same room
    2. the non stop aggression towards the doctor
3, Saying about when this is over he will be disciplined that's when my alarm triggered
    4. You all look alike
    5. the instant block when the Doctor made contact
But what RTD did was turn the entire betrayal of Ricky who I don't think was the same he read books and clearly a lot more educated, She was almost child like (Chucky style) Mummy in the sky etc
So after that scene with Ricky she sees the doctor makes that face and ignores them, we know the rest
The DOTS had clearly seen how revolting these people were and decided on the most revolting fate for them.

There are a couple of things odd in this episode. First, it seemed much more about social media (an oxymoron to me) then about racism. I think some think it was racist because the Doctor is black but it may be more about how well connected he is to the bubble business. I see this discrimination on various sites where there are the "good guys" and the "bad guys". Perhaps that's a part of it. For me, it had more of a Black Mirror feel to it.
It's unclear how many races are actually on these worlds. In most Dr Who, it's one like Sontarans, Daleks, Cybermen. Only on Earth does the Doctor typically come across a spectrum of races. One bit about that. The home world was completely destroyed by the slugs. So, were the slugs non-racist and ate everyone? We'll never know since the Doctor does basically nothing to find out what's going on and why and how it might be stopped. Not the Doctor I grew up with!
Lastly, the lamp post was my favorite character next to Ricky. Go lamp post!
