Thanks Brian. I was debating on what protection to get for my S1000RR but this seems to be the best choice for protection over all. Thank you for a great video.
10mm 12 point socket......OH GOD THANK YOU BRIAN! Rock on.
Thank you for watching! - Van
I bought my gb racing engine cover kit for the 2015 r1. The tq. specs are now 6 nm on all bolts and the new bolts were 10mm.
Thanks for the video Brian, I got a set coming for my R1!
+jacobstacho Awesome! You will not be disappointed!
those motion pro T-handle's are worth their weight in w/e
I f*ckin love em! Use em on everything, bought a bit driver and a socket one, literally use them every chance i get.
Man all these horror stories of stripped bolts I am definitely using my torque wrench.
Every horror story I’ve heard about tightening these is because the torque wrench was off by a pound or so and stripped it out.
Thanks for this tutorial so easy thanks cheers
You are welcome and thanks for watching! - Van
Hi,
Quick question: Do you nee to apply thread locker for this installation? I typically find your videos very resourcefull for all my other install's on my bike, but since this does involve loosening bolts that are mounted directly on the engine, i wonder if this would involve an extra safety precaution in terms of thread locker.
Ok maybe that wasn't that quick.

I do not use thread lock on these fasteners and there was not any from the factory either. Thanks for watching and take care! - Van
Thats odd, My instructions say to apply 6nm of torque.. same gb racing set
Perhaps they have been updated over time. This bike was a 2015. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Cheers! I went with the feel aswell. i felt that the factory screws were pretty soft and didnt need lot of force. So i just went with the feel and they worked great! :)

Hey brian mine came with 11pcs washers and the bolt total 12pcs. I did not see on your video that u installed any washers between the bolt and the cover guard. Do i need to install the washers or not? Thanks brian nice video
Man it has been a minute since I did this install. GB supplies decent instructions I would install the washers if so directed. Sorry, it's been a while since I did this. - Van
Hello I write from Italy , I recently bought a r1 2016. installing gb racing shell , and my fear ' that can over time damage the lacquer of yamaha cover and when will take away ' find the crankcase marked by contact. What do you recommend ? I really care to the care of the bike ... thanks to all
no they won't damage the paint unless you drop it or lay it down.
Hello, what's the name of the key brand you use when you start to remove the crankcase screws? I mean the key in the shape of T. thanks
This is the Motion Pro Spinner 3/8" Drive T Handle. Here is a link to it on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motion-pro-spinner-ii-t-handle-3-8-08-0562/ - Van
Easy install
So I need a 12 point 10mm. Thanks!
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Benedict Ali instablaster =)
@Darren Vincenzo Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Darren Vincenzo It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Benedict Ali no problem :D
what material are the cover made out of debating on which brand due to material should I get for my zx10r
It is a very durable fiber / plastic mix. This stuff protects from impacts and abrasion very well. Our STG Ninja 400 has three crashes on the same set of GB Racing Covers with zero damage. IMO these are one of the best options available today. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thanks for the reply
great!
Thank you for watching. - Brian Van
do i need to drain engine oil before install this kit ???
No need to drain the engine oil to install this kit. - Van
Do the gb protectors provide more protection due to coverage area? Or do they offer the same protection as the yoshimuras?
+Charles Pratt Depending on who you ask... haha They provide a relative amount of protection, the only case in which the GB would provide better protection because of the alrger surface area is in a case where something jagged is able to sneak in between the lower of the case that is contacting the ground and the upper of the bike that is also contacting the ground.
+Sportbike Track Gear thanks for the response. Is there an ETA on when these covers will be restocked?
Not an exact ETA but we have been seeing them come back into stock for other models so I don't expect it will be long! If you put in your email address on the listing we can be sure to get you an email notification once they become available again!
Your motion pro is 1/4th drive?
I did not replace the throttle assembly on this bike. - Van
Broke a bolt of, my torque wrench must of seen its last days, how do I get the broken bolt out and what size bolt does this kit come with.. hope you can help
You will need to extract the broken fastener using an easy out. I am not sure which bolt you broke so you will need to measure one of the other bolts that is the same size to get what you need. - Van
does the fluids has to be empty prior to unscrewing the bolts?
Shannon Jackson No need to drain any fluids, pretty basic job here. - Van
hola, una consulta, veo que lo ajustas con determinado kilogramos de fuerza, cuanto kilogramos utilizas?
Adriano Corona dale asta que te duela la mano
jose meraz Dale gracias!
Do they make them for a 2017 Suzuki gsxr 600?
Yes Sir they offer a full set as well as the individual covers for this bike (same bike from 11-18). Here is a link to the engine cover category for your bike on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/parts/suzuki/gsx-r600/2017/?search_query=&page=1&limit=48&sort=featured&Department=Engine%20Covers&category=59668&is_category_page=1

I just changed my cover and on one of the screws, I clearly went too tight. I think I damaged the threads on the engine. It sounded like a stripping noise and the screw will now spin endlessly. I tried pulling the screw out by hand but I think its in there good. Should I unscrew it and load it up with locktight, then put it back in? Or should i just monitor it and see if it starts wiggling out on its own? *fingers crossed* I don't plan on ever taking the cover off again. Do you think I'll be alright? To be honest, I'm actually kind of nervous about it. I don't believe it's leaking tho. Thanks for your help in advance. Just curious as to what you think might happen. I commented on an older video of woodcraft covers. You dont have to comment twice. I'm just trying to get my comment noticed. Thanks again.
I had a set of covers on my 15 R1. Took it in for the recall on the transmission. Got it back. Ran it for few hundred miles no problem. After a while I noticed my top bolt to my pulse cover was snapped off halfway and the other half was in the engine. Because they are aluminum they dont need much for torque. I'm guessing the shop over torqued them. My gasket started to leak badly at my next Track Day with it. Had to call it quits halfway through. Took it back to the dealer. They had to replace all new bolts and a new gasket. I think they over tightened it and it squished the gasket too far so when the engine expanded under high pressure and heat oil just spewed all over my new A* super tech r boots and dainese suit including my rear tire causing some slip. I should be getting it back this Friday. Moral of the story is I wouldn't risk riding with one bolt lose or not tightened down. This is a very particular machine. I would remove the cover. Replace all the stock bolts. Take it in and say you noticed some oil coming from that area and see what they do. If you aren't referring to the new R1 then this is all a mute point :)
I had the same issue. One of my. Engine threads stripped. I am hoping since the gasket hasn't been disturbed, the other bolts will keep it sealed. Let's see how it hold up. Did you notice any issues so far?
+Vignesh Vivek yes. My gasket started to leak. It spilled oil all over my boots.
+MPR3B has your leaked?
It held up for about a month pretty solid, but the vibration over time made it wiggle out and in turn, the leak came back...not bad but still a leak. Like eric said, it's so so easy to over torque aluminum. Aluminum case and a steel bolt...most likely the bolt is going to be the stronger one. You have a couple options. Drill it and retap it for a bigger bolt. Your stock bolt should be, well at least on mine, is a 6.0 mil by 1.0 pitch bolt. The next biggest metric would be 7.0 mil, but the next biggest SAE would be a 1/4 inch by either 20 or 28, You can go either way. 1/4 in is a little smaller than 7 mil so if you screw up the 1/4, you can always bump up to the 7. Another option would be to helicoil it and use the original bolt, however, I hear mixed reviews about helicoils. I very fortunately had to do NEITHER!!! My buddy had a 7 mil by 1.0 bolt laying around and just for the hell of it, tried threading it in. It went right in and pretty much created new threads and is holding up great thus far, So before you try drilling and tapping, just try threading in a bigger bolt. Best of luck!! Hopefully, this all makes sense.
i think bolts quality is not as good as stock one
I have installed several sets of these now and feel the fasteners are quality, never had an issue. OEM fasteners are typically very high quality. - Van
What type of T-handle tool is that?

@@sportbiketrackgear sorry for that.
Torque Spec for those bolts ?
D F910 why that way? Instead of just 2.2 the first time? Makes no sense? Also I thought there was a 90* clockwise turn
