- An interesting little note about Ruby vs the goons. She's careful to only hit them with the blunt side of her scythe, never the blade (she doesn't want to kill them) - Hopefully you've listened to the OSTs. Because RWBY's music is awesome across the board. - The first volume was really tight budget-wise, so to save money/time any character that didn't have a speaking part were left as shadows. By Vol 2 those problems were solved and the background characters were filled in.
Welcome! You're already catching a lot of the things to be keeping an eye out for early. The series has a lot of foreshadowing both in what's said between characters and also in the lyrics of the songs. You'll end up forming a lot of questions and just know that most will get answered in time. Some other cool things, the characters are all based off of people from fairy tales or myths. Case in point ruby is red riding hood. Professor Ozpin is the Wizard of Oz etc. (I wont go spoil them all) Its quite a nice little challenge to figure out who everybody is. The animation quality improves with time but it still retains the same visual charm.
You all probably dont care but does someone know a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Jensen Quincy thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
3:42: His Lien (spoken like li-yen as one fluid word). That's the name of the currency in this world. 5:32: The most important rule when it comes to weapon's in this show: It's also a gun. :) Yep, many of the weapons in this show have their own names, though sadly Crescent Rose's (Ruby Rose's High Caliber Sniper Scythe) is the only one that's been mentioned in the show so far. How about I tell you the names of some other weapons you've already seen? Weiss Schnee's Multi-Action Dust Rapier is called Myrtenaster, Blake Belladonna's Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe is called Gambol Shroud, Yang Xiao Long's Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets are called Ember Celica, Roman Torchwick's cane is called Melodic Cudgel, Glynda Goodwitch's riding crop is called The Disciplinarian, and Jaune Arc's sword and sheath-shield are called Crocea Mors. Ruby is fifteen at this point, while everyone else in her year (that we know of) is seventeen. 40:20: While she may want that since they're in the same year now, her main motivation for wanting to become a Huntress is that she wants to help people and make the world a better place, like she said in Chapter 3. Actually, about you listening to the songs: Many of the RWBY reactors (at least of the ones I know of) do a reaction to the soundtrack at the end of each Volume, where they react to lyric videos of the songs. The songs' lyrics all have some relation to the show, whether it may be a character's inner thoughts and feelings in a song from a specific character's point of view, or a general feeling or mood/thoughts from no specific character. In some cases, it could even spoiler you if you listen to the full version of a song before you finish watching the Volume it originates from. If you do decide to do soundtrack reactions, I could link you to appropriate and well done lyric videos for each song that don't have spoilers in their thumbnails and images/art used in the videos themselves. Well, what do you think? It's up to you; does that sound like something you might want to do? Speaking of spoilers: When you watch RWBY on UA-cam, be VERY CAREFUL! Future chapters sometimes have thumbnails with spoilers in them that you don't want to see before watching the respective chapters; and the recommended column at the right side of the screen can have all sorts of MAJOR spoiler thumbnails and titles, ranging from future chapters and other RWBY content to reactions, theory videos, discussions, and all sorts of fan content made by the FNDM. Like I said, be very careful. A good idea that another RWBY reactor uses might be to always use private mode when you watch RWBY, so that your previous searches and watchings don't cause more RWBY content to pop up in the recommended column. Lastly, a small suggestion: Watching the opening each chapter when you're watching multiple chapters a day might be a bit much for you, but how about you watch the opening once every recording session for the first chapter you watch? Just a thought from me; what do you think about it?
Hey! Thank you for taking the time of writing all that out! Firstly, I'd like to do a soundtrack reaction, however I'm not exactly musically inclined so I'm not sure if I'd be able to bring much to the table. But it sounds fun, so I might as well try it! Secondly, for the opening and spoilers, I'm probably going to be swapping to the Rooster Teeth website so I don't see any fan videos/theorys on the side. I'm also not going to be including the opening in each reaction, but I'll probably still watch them just because I like them!
@@danzy211 You're welcome! And don't worry, I've written far longer comments in the past. Plus, I really enjoy writing these info, tips and suggestions comments for content I like, so it's really no problem. :) I think soundtrack reactions would still be interesting even if you're not musically inclined. As far as I know,/it seems to me like only very few of the people who react to the soundtracks actually have musical knowledge; the rest simply enjoys the songs. I don't expect you to analyse every last bit of the songs and know all of the correct musical terms for how they're composed; it's enough if you just enjoy the music and tell us how you like it. Plus, even if you're not musically inclined, you can still pay attention to the lyrics and give us your thoughts and theories on them, since, like I said, they're all related to the show in some way or can be interpreted as such, and can therefore give you new and really interesting insight into/interpretation of characters' thoughts, feelings, or the general mood. (Btw, the soundtrack reactions I know pretty much just cover the songs with lyrics. Afaik, there's only one channel out there who includes scores in their soundtrack reactions, and even they only react to four scores at most.) Do you have a FIRST subscription for RoosterTeeth's website? If you don't, you could get ads in the middle of the videos, which would interrupt the reaction. If you don't, you'd either have to edit these parts out or get someone who lets the ads play out for you. I'd also advise you to only scroll as far down as necessary, so you see as few thumbnails of future chapters as possible. Even so, compared to the spoiler dangers on UA-cam, I definitely think this is the better choice. If you prefer it that way, then that's alright with me! But you're still going to include the opening in the reaction each time a new one is shown at the end of the first Chapter of a Volume, right?
@@rubyrules1252 yeah, of course! I'll just skip for every episode except the first of each volume. Those midroll ads could be a bit annoying, I'll take a look at an episode that I've already seen and see how it works.
Danzy 21 well atleast for the first 5 volumes their on UA-cam in complete form set up like a movie for each volume (or 2 movies since 3-5 are split into 2 separate videos might be the length), plays the intro once an episode or two into the over all video length, and no ads or breaks between the episodes and the thumbnails while they do give you some hints in their artwork their not super spoiler heavy. You do miss out on the outro though.
These are really good reactions. You're looking into every detail and remembering small things. Not a lot of people do that and it's cool to see you doing it.
I was soooo happy to see that Ruby is a huge, adorable dork when I saw RWBY for the first time. Also, think about it: You've seen what Ruby's weapon can do. She made that that thing herself.
Roman Torchwick is named after Candlewick (Lampwick in the Disney version), a schoolmate of Pinocchio’s who gets him into mischief and leads him off to Naughty Hijinks Island. Pinocchio was originally written in Italian, so “Roman.” But they couldn’t use the original name, both for copyright and because people would expect fireworks from someone named Roman Candlewick.
Yep, naming one's weapon seems to be a tradition for Huntsmen and Huntresses. Crescent Rose is, AFAIK, the only one we get in the show, but extra material has given us the names of several others. Here are the ones for the Team RWBY: Ruby - Crescent Rose Weiss - Myrtenaster Blake - Gambol Shroud Yang - Ember Celica The only other one I can remember offhand (for a character that's appeared so far) is Nora's weapon, which is named Magnhild.
Casey Lee Williams was only 13 when she recorded the music vocals for Vol 1 and trailers. Her dad, Jeff, is the main writer/arranger for the show's music.
In this series, every detail is important and will emerge to make more sense later on. They are all teaser clues to bring the viewer back to earlier episodes. There are also subtle clues everywhere. For example, did you notice there was a crow flying by in each of the four trailers? That too will emerge much later to make more sense.
*= More character origins =* - Roman Torchwick: Lampwick/Candlewick (Pinocchio) _(design is based on Alex (A Clockwork Orange))_ - Glynda Goodwitch: Glinda, the Good Witch of the South - Headmaster Ozpin: The Wizard of Oz - Jaune Arc: Joan of Arc - Nora Valkyrie: Thor - Lie Ren: Mulan - Pyrrha Nikos: Achilles
There’s “gets explained later”, and then there’s “gets explained so far down the line that everyone has pretty much forgotten to ask about it and just accepts it as how things are”.
"Is that going to be brought up later, some kind of Chekov?", he says. A bunch of little hints and foreshadowings are in these first episodes, but most of them go by too fast for most first-time watchers to notice. We have our group of students, most of them seeming not at all fazed by being flung off a cliff into a forest full of monsters. (Imagine how many waivers you must have to sign on admission, if this is day one for first-years...) Ren (green ninja guy) is voiced by Monty himself for the first couple of volumes.
Enjoying these reactions way more than i expected...such a breath of fresh air in the way you approach it. not sure why. Anyways, keep up the good reacting my friend

You may want a moderator for the comments section, if you know someone. I am not volunteering though. Nopenopenope. It makes me glad to see someone enjoying their exposure to RWBY. There are episodes that you will run the entire gamut of emotions from rage, to happy, to crying, all in little fifteen minute chunks. Be prepared.

So I'm late in the game but the best way I can explain the moon without spoilers is the moon is shattered. I'm not sure why the different moon phases show different shattered patterns but I assume it's just convenient to show time passing.
You've already picked up on way more than most new RWBY reactors I've seen, you're going to have a blast with the show and I look forward to watching all your videos. I've seen a lot of shows, but there's nothing quite like RWBY!
I find it odd how not a single reactor has offered word or move to show they caught on to the fact ruby's question caught Blake completely off-guard. I think she unknowingly used a common conversational tactic. :P
Very nice comments, theories, and reactions. I recommend though for the technical janks like proceeding towards the next episode, technical difficulties, or interruptions; editing.
