Landing the Biggest Car Detailing Job in History for Top Gear (James Bond Special)

- In this video I share my story about how I landed one of the biggest jobs in my life as a car detailer as I was put in charge of Looking after the Famous CARS from the James Bond Films.
For me this was the highest honour and be chosen to look after them and it wasn’t just the fact it was famous cars. It was so much more to me working one of the biggest car shows in the world.
So here's a little insight to some of the things that happen in my life as a car cleaner and want you guys to take note of this when i say it. You do not need to have the flashy van or the crazy equipment to make it in this business. All you need to is be the very best. IF you got the skills you got every bit of potential to make in the valeting or detailing business.

Oh Dave, the capture of a moment in time from you. Probably the pinnacle of your professional career brought crashing down to a moment of shear reality. The greatest companion we all have, the absolutely most honest and unconditional love of a dog. Anyone that owns a dog will understand the pain of losing one, especially one so young. My heart goes out to you and I’m glad that you have something positive in your life to keep pushing you in a positive direction. Life has a nasty habit of kicking you right in the family jewels when you are feeling just fine or had a great moment of any kind. Kudos to you for pulling through and there is no shame in admitting you are down or you depressed and looking for help. Talking about, especially to an audience (even if you dont see them really) is extremely therapeutic so you doing "silly" videos was great. Keep up the good work and stay strong.

Just watched this episode Dave. Sorry to hear about your puppy mate. Experiencing such a highlight then facing a situations like losing a loved one tends to keep us grounded as humans. Which shows in your personality throughout your videos, and I think that's why all of your followers have warmed to you. As a Scottish guy I'm beyond jealous of you being able to work on the Bond cars. But that just shows that hard work truly pays dividends. Keep up the good work 💪🏽

Sorry for your loss mate. For a long time I was thinking about starting detailing and valeting business and after seeing a few of your videos I made that step. Really glad i did :) currently working out the back of my house with just the locals getting basic valets and working for a very small amount but hoping to grow and your videos are really helping with that.

just discovered your channel whilst looking for reviews on the new AVA pressure washers, I'm loving it. been a hobby valeter/detailer for nearly 20 years but never made the jump to do it full time (i nearly did it about 7 years ago but my day job took and interesting career twist that i couldn't ignore), so just stuck to friends, family and neighbours cars. Then I found this video and the penny dropped!...... i was on set when you were detailing the cars at Dunsfold but i couldn't remember the name on your shirt, now it has all become clear. Awesome work on some stunning vehicles in really awful conditions. The finished episode was epic and you played a massive part in that, i know from experience how long it takes to get the shots perfect. Im now subscribed!! keep up the great work, love the no nonsense reviews, down to earth chat and trade tips, thanks for sharing the daily realities of doing this for a living. Hang in there man. Life has a way of really challenging you. I had a terrible incident at my last career, developed PTSD but during that we had our first child. I worked hard, with help, to get through that and now have a second child. Life will bring something negative along again eventually, but you just have to keep working for the positives. I love the channel. You’re on your way up. Delaware, USA here.

Well done that man. What a great achievement. I am so happy for you. The cars looked great. It's amazing how the little details mean so much to the BBC as well. Their cameramen and women are so, so brilliant. The cinematography is on another level, especially wildlife stuff. Glad you saw what they did, learnt from it, and will use that experience to make your videos, even better. Even though they are already brill. Use the teflon technique (let it slide) on the few people who seem to want to be negative for no reason, probably just jealous of your success. Weekend detailers know what you do, how you do it and why. Loved how the snack man got a recognition from you for doing something simple, yet vital to you. You don't sell anything, just advice/experience. Top man 👏👏👏
Just watched the video and I’m extremely sorry for the loss of your fur baby, just doing that video shows how strong you are mentally, I absolutely love the videos and keep up the good work, just remember one thing ‘You will never be criticised by someone doing better than you’

Just subscribed after watching a few videos and as a complete novice to correct car cleaning, polishing,waxing etc I like your ideas on not having to have the best equipment and products to produce good results on everyday cars. With a little knowledge and elbow grease good results are possible. Sorry to hear about your dog, as a dog owner myself I have dogs and lost dogs they are part of the family, my kids grew up with the love and friendship of our dogs and they are now dog owners themselves. Take time to grieve over your loss and for me it took 6 months before we decided to think about a new dog. Thanks again keep it real and down to earth and I will keep watching.

I would like to thank you for these videos its given me the push to start my valeting buisness and all the advice you've given has already got myself over 30 jobs in the past 2 weeks I've gained 15ish regulars of them jobs thank you top bloke keep your chin up. Lastly I liked the humour you put into those videos it was a nice change keep up these epic videos
The cars looked fantastic I loved that episode very well done and a dog is not just a pet it is a member of the family and it is vary hard to lose a family member who ever or what ever it is. Top man keep up the great work I love your videos.

Well done with all that you do Dave! I'm retired and have got into occasional detailing for a small number of customers. Like you, I love the hard work, mostly because of the reaction I get fron customers. I also agree it is an art of rigid attention to detail, process management and technique. Keep up your great work - you've taught me so much! Sorry about your loss - I know it is devastating when you lose your 4 legged best friend. Hold on to those memories!😊👏🏻

The plane you were stood under was a Vickers VC10 K3 operated by 101Sqn (Royal Air Force), it was the very last british airliner ever produced in 1970 and was retired on 24/09/2013
VC10 that's it. My dad said what it was but I forgot. Was pretty cool but was leaking some fluid on the van when underneath
Mate I feel your pain. I’ve done this job for years and it really gets to you. It’s the kinda job that gives you lots of time to think. I used to work for a company called Storacar, and we looked after some amazing cars and I did all the detailing on them. I remember we had the DeLorean from Back to the Future. It came from Pinewood studios. It took me for ever to detail that thing! 🙄.

Be really proud of what you’ve achieved, I had to go and detail a car knowing that when I had finished the vet was coming to put my dog to sleep. He was seven years old but had cancer in his leg bone, I don’t know how I completed the job but you just have to get on with it. I’m sure you have a bright future ahead of you, keep doing what you’re doing.

Terribly sad to hear about your puppy. The thought of losing my Riley has already welled me up just typing this message, and my missus says I'm a robot when it comes to emotion.
The mental and physical aspect of the work we do will never be recognised by the general public. I hear it all the time, and it boils my piss.
I liked those silly videos, they brought a sense of fun, and more power to you for doing them when you were feeling so low.

I work as a chemo nurse. The last year has been one of the hardest of my career. Due to personal reasons last few years I've been driving crappy cars. This last year ive picked up several new hobbies. Car detailing been one of them. Ive bought a new car and regularly wash it. I get a huge smile on my face driving to work watching the beading on fresh wax. I start the shift with a positive. Channels like yours have been life liveable during lockdown. Im sorry to hear about your puppy, the loss of a pet can be heartbreaking. As for the haters. Well they are just filled with hate. Ignore them. Good luck with the channel. And keep on keeping on.
My mum had chemo. Nearly killed her. Something messed up and she wasn't well. Can't imagine how hard that must be for you. Incredibly lucky to have real people such as yourself watching there videos 🙏
I’m not just saying this but you are genuinely one of my all time fav UA-camrs to watch now, all your content is pukka and down to earth, I think your a top top genuine guy, sadly there will always be rough moments in life, we just have to adapt and turn negatives around, and for those who are toxic, it’s usually because they are bitter and jealous, I consider you incredibly successful Nd a massive influence, you’ve inspired me to finally take the plunge and start the process of opening a detailing shop, to have thy impact on people and be so positive and influential is a massive success in its self, keep up the amazing work David 👌👌👌👌

Sorry about your dog mate, I know what your going through we lost ours to at Xmas, it breaks your heart and knocks you down, it’s not easy loosing your best friend of 11 years, if you want my advice get another dog you might not think it but it does help 👍

Ignore the haters Dave, they have their reasons but largely it’s about jealousy or insecurity making them want to appear superior. It is possible to be civil and perhaps make suggestions in comments when a person disagrees, but I don’t understand the hate when you are doing a good job in difficult circumstances and providing us with entertainment and tips on your channel. I remember you losing your pup at the time and was gutted for you, but there are things that just cannot be influenced by man mate, and I am sure he/she had the best life with your family in that short time. Many congrats on the Top Gear gig, great job and thanks for sharing.

Dave your an absolute legend loved the video, I'm sure being at the top gear studio/track was a dream come true. Sorry to hear about ur dog, heartbreaking loosing a man's best friend. I've only got into car valeting a few months and it was through your videos and advice in them why I went for it as I was holding back. I'm glad I done it and it is defo hard work but worth it seeing the end product. Keep doin what ur doing pal

Yeah I know the feeling I lost my wee mate of 14 yrs 2 years ago a week before Xmas. One of the hardest times in my life. On a lighter note can you tell yum to bring down their postage cost to Northern Ireland 😂 only joking pal, looking forward to your nxt video.
