I went from Doncaster to Hurricane mills Tennessee to see her ranch in 1993 as I was a huge fan. My friend and I walked too close to her house because we wanted a foto next to her tourbus, when a gardener told us we were in a prohibited area. I told him I’d only take a moment to do a foto as we came all the way from England. Then…. He went inside and informed Loretta that we had come all that way to see her ranch, she came out of the house and stood next to her tour us and the gardener took out foto. She seemed more interested to hear all about me and asked me all sorts of questions about myself to make me feel valued.
I somehow can’t imagine the big names in music doing that today.
I’m so glad you did this reaction. Loretta was born in Butcher Holler, Kentucky. She has put out 50 albums. She married at age 15. She was known for writing songs regarding women’s issues and caused quite some controversy with some of her songs. Another great song is “You Ain’t Woman Enough To Take My Man”. Her best friend was Patsy Cline who tragically died in a planned crash. Check out Patsy’s song “Crazy” which was written by Willie Nelson. Her voice was also captivating
Patsy had an influence on Loretta's career.
I'm only a few mins away from Patsy's burial site
She got married when she was 13, not 15.

Yes - 13
Loretta Lynn has a sister that also sang county music. Her name was Crystal Gayle. She wanted to make on her own so she used the stage name of Crystal Gayle. One of her biggest songs was "Don't it make my brown eyes blue"
Don't forget her sister Peggy Sue Webb who had a minor career in country but is better known as a co-writer of some of Loretta's songs, including "Don't Come Home Drinkin (with loving on your mind)"
Still to this day here in West Virginia you see license plates and script in the back glass of pickup trucks driven by women..."I'm a Coal Miners Daughter". Loretta still has that kind of respect among the people of Appalachia. She's a national treasure.
One of the best country singers of all time. One of her best is You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man.
Coal Miner’s Daughter is autobiographical. It is based on Loretta’s life. By the way, Coal Miner’s daughter has been made into a movie Starring Sissy Spacek as Loretta.
Thank you Alice! I will make sure your request is on the list! Can’t wait to check out more from this legend! 👍🏻
As an Eastern Kentuckian, I get goosebumps when I hear her voice...she is and always will be a legend!
me too.
Same
I’m from South West Kentucky 6 miles due North of Fort Campbell and 51 miles North West of Nashville TN
Same. I live in Paintsville which is right by Butcher Holler. Just out of curiosity, have you heard of another country artist from the Floyd County area? His name is Tyler Childers and you may like him a lot.
@@klown83 The name is familiar but I can't picture a face
She is singing the true story of exactly how she grew up....
This song is actually a bit of an autobiography of her life. This is the way she grew up.
I was lucky enough to hear her sing, including this song, at a USO show aboard the USS Carl Vinson when I was 18 years old. She slipped on some grease getting off of the helicopter and cracked a couple of ribs. She had to have been hurting, but she refused to cancel the show.
I would highly recommend her songs "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man", "Fist City", "One's on the Way", "The Pill", "Happy Birthday" and "You're Lookin' at Country" as well as her duets wit Conway Twitty, "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man", "After the Fire Is Gone" and "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly"
Yes these are some great suggestions for him to check out and react to
Yes please ☮️♥️🙏🏼🤟🏼
Fist city, one's on the way, and the Pill don't have nearly enough reactions
my fav is Rated X
This was a biographical song.
I'm an old broad and I have to say that to really appreciate Loretta, you have to have seen her being interviewed on the many talk shows she appeared on back in the day.. She was absolutely hilarious. She had a sharp sense of humor and a delightful personality. She married at 14, almost 15, had her first child at 15 and was a mother of 4 living in total poverty by the age of 20. She had twins later for a total of 6. There was no keeping her down, she never lost her own sense of self worth, her humor and never stopped writing songs. She was an in indestructible force - like most Scotts - most of her ancestors were of Scottish origin.
Loretta is the legendary queen of country music. Oh...and this song is a true story of her childhood.
Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton are two of my favorite country singers..I can relate to pretty much of how and where they grew up....I have 9 siblings , grew up in a holler..I didn't even live in a home with indoor plumbing till I was 20 years old..lol
Americans really admire a self made man or woman. We like hearing about people who went from humble beginnings to being successful by putting in lots of hard work.
I don’t think it’s just Americans who love that type of story, those who earned it all from nothing are the ones who show us anything is possible if you work hard, stay humble and remember where you came from!
@@taylorfamilyreactions Oh for sure. Plenty of people besides Americans find such stories admirable. It's just that the self-made successful person is very much an American cultural archetype (especially in decades past).
No autotune, nothing fancy, just a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. Don’t find that today.
I am also a coal miner's Daughrer and I am also Proud of it. Daddy raised 7 kids by digging coal
You get a lot of the flavor of the mountain speech in this song:
Borned - born
Warsh - wash
Tarred - tired
Holler - valley between two. mountains
Livshere - lives here
And, of course, there is nary a dipthong to be found.
Watch the movie. It's good!
I would recommend watching the movie "Coal Miners Daughter"...it's her life story starring Tomy Lee Jones and Sissy Spaceck who plays Loretta Lynn...it is a fantastic fascinating movie. Sissy Spaceck actually does all the singing herself and sounds so much like Loretta Lynn...Loretta herself says she was nervous when she saw it cause she thought Sissy sang better than she did, lol. Not quite but she really does sound great.
Yes, great movie!
Most country music has a storyline. Hers is know different. This was based on her lifetime. She is a fantastic person and singer. Another fantastic singer is Dolly Parton, she wrote many songs, such as Jolene, I Will Always Live You, Coat of Many Colors, too many more to mention, but these 3 are amazing.🎶🎵🦋🎶🎵🇺🇸
I seen Loretta Lynn twice at the Grand Ole Opry!! I seen her first time in 1981 and the second time in 2003!! I'm so glad I had the chances!!❤
She is singing her life as a 'youngun''
RIP First Lady Of Country Music Mrs. Loretta Lynn
She is one of the first ladies of country music, she truly is a legend.
That's the real way us southerners talk. Every word she sings is about her family & is true.
Rest in Peace, Loretta Lynn - 10/04/2022 :( You will be forever missed and remembered. The most decorated female country music artist of all time passed away today.
Her younger sister was a country singer Crystal Gayle
Loretta is one of my top favorites. This is a true story of her life. She married very young ( 15? ) and had six kids while she was young . She is still alive and still sings sometimes.
Loretta is a wonderful storyteller. She's just pure talent, born that way
Loretta was best friends with Patsy Cline. She was taken from her home town by her husband and he was the one who helped her become a music legend!! I was lucky enough to see her in concert at age 11 and I'm in my 50's now. If she did another tour close to my town, I would go again!!
She is down to earth and is easy to connect with.
RIP Loretta Lynn..You will be missed..My mother looks just like her..its Crazy!
Loretta was a true American treasure and legend.
My grandpa worked with Loretta's daddy in the Van Lear coal mine. She is my 3rd cousin. Never met her but I have listened to her music all my 66 years.
Loretta Lynn was my mom's favorite singer and I grew up listening to her. She writes her own songs most of them anyway. This song is a autobiography of her life. You should watch the movie coal Miner's daughter with Sissy Spacek. Also Conway Twitty was her singing partner, you ought to check out their music together. I was lucky enough before my mom passed away that we got to go see Loretta in concert. ❤
Also a little fun side note is that Crystal Gayle is Loretta Lynn's sister. You should check out Crystal Gayle's music. ❤
This is basically her life story.. there is a movie by the same name (Coal miners daughter) about her life starring Sissy Spacek as Loretta and Tommy Lee Jones as her Husband Doo (Little) Lynn…
Our honky tonk angel has gone home, RIP Loretta Lynn, the Queen of country
She was from my state of Kentucky and got married at 14 years old. She had several children and her husband told her she could sing by hearing her sing to the kids.
Any more... I had to chuckle at that. ENDLESS catalog of music by her. All worth a listen.
that song was based on her life ,how and where she grew up she is known as the queen of country music. her and conway twitty had several hits together also check those out
If he wants a funny one, "You're the reason our kids are ugly" is a classic 🤣
LOVE Loretta.. the movie Coal Miner's Daughter is her life story. Her sister, Crystal Gayle also had a country music career. A couple of Crystal's songs are, Don't it Make Your Brown Eyes Blue, You've Been Talking in Your Sleep.
I’m southern from Alabama and I here stories from my parents didn’t have much but I can relate to their hardships
I am a big fan of The British Royals but here America that’s our Royalty Loretta Lynn and Elvis
Loretta Lynn passed away October 2022 at 91
You should listen to Loretta and Conway Twitty duets. Classics.
Loretta is a country music legend, an amazing success story.
There is an excellent BioPic about her life, Coal Miner's Daughter (1980) that I think you would enjoy.
Loretta wrote most of her work. She has hundreds of songs to check out. Some include: You Ain't Woman Enough (to Take My Man); The Pill; Fist City; One's on the Way; and Don't Come Home a Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind). Also did MANY duets with Conway Twitty.
I truly enjoy your company. You feel like a long lost friend. And Loretta was and is an institution. Amazing woman.
This song was her way of commenting her childhood there's a movie with the same title where Loretta Lynn was played by Sissy Spasek she's an amazing woman
She is the Queen of country music
Loretta Lynn has been a country music superstar for years! She’s in the Country Music Hall Of Fame!
I was also born a Ky. Coalminers daughter ! Loretta is a true Legend. PLEASE listen to another Ky singer named Tyler Childers. He is awesome !
Bear in mind... This is Loretta's true story. Growing up dirt poor. Like Dolly Parton.
I recomend the movie with the same name featuring Sissy Spacek ..doing the songs herself... Levon Helm as her father, and Tommy Lee Jones.
The Queen of Country music.
That is a true song of the life she lived as a child.
Loretta was born and raised in the mountains of Kentucky and her accent is pretty much what you would expect of a girl raised in the mountains. Everything is this song is a true depiction of her life. I heard a snippy, snooty, stuck-up, arrogant, self-important reporter interviewing Loretta many years ago and in her most high-toned and condescending voice she said, "Loretta, ahem, did you ever think that (ahem) maybe you would have gone further in the music business if not for your accent?" Loretta did not tell her that there isn't much further she could have gone because she has won practically every award given by the Country Music Association. She didn't tell her that she is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. She didn't tell her that she was a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She didn't tell her that everywhere she goes in concert, her show is sold out within a couple of hours of becoming available online. She didn't tell this snob that she has sold MILLIONS of records. She simply gave Miss I'm Better Than You Because I'm from the East Coast and You're from one of the Fly-Over States, a blank look and in her thickest Kentucky voice she said, "Whut acccennt?"
I'm an older woman now so I'm drawn to the last part where she's back home but what lives there now is only her memories. I love life but loss is part of it more so, of course as you age. So more and more time is spent recalling those "precious memories"
Loretta Lynn is my grandfather's cousin and he used to tell us the story of how Loretta chased him up the flag pole at school when he would pick on her or her siblings but she does have a good voice and she sings beautifully
So many of the country legends grew up in poverty -- Loretta, Dolly Parton, Naomi Judd, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and many others.
Dear Uncle Sam was one of my favorites she sang too and love Happy Birthday and Louisiana Woman Mississippi man
All her songs I think came from real life hard living.
My mother grew up in hazard. Her 12 brothers and sisters lived the same way. She was the middle kid and the middle girl.
Loretta lynn is referred to as the first lady of country music. She was married at age of 14. She had 4 kids by the time she was 18. She moved from Kentucky to Washington state until she wrote her first album then she moved to nashville. When she first started radio stations would not play her songs. Her last 2 kids she had were twin girls one of which she named after her best friend pasty cline. You should really watch her movie coal miners daughter to get a full idea of her life. But 2 songs you should check out are fist city, and you ain't woman enough to take my man also if you want a good laugh check out her song you're the reason our kids are ugly with conway twitty
You have to be from a very specific region of Appalachia to rhyme hard and tired and it to work perfectly.
Barely a moment after I expressed that she was beautiful with amazing stage presence during your reaction you expressed the same. It's fascinating how we as empathic humans can pick up on that with such nuance. Indeed, what a talented angelic woman.
Butcher hollow is northeast of East Point Kentucky, my daddy grew up 8 minutes away from there and grandpa was a coal miner also. Loretta was 2 years old when my daddy was born .
The ultimate success story. From Butcher Holler to singing several different countries. Playing and selling out all over world. Also Playing for Presidents
Love Loretta. You should hear You ain't Woman Enough and Fist City by her. Coal Miner's Daughter is also a great movie about her
She was my moms all time favorite
Loretta is country royalty. This is a song about her life. Check out the movie Coal Miners Daughter. This is her life
That was the story of her life. There was a movie made by the same name, with Sissy Spacek in the starring role.
Anither great one for the lady. The pill.
Goosebumps. Every time.
I’m so glad you discovered this. Watch the movie Coal Miners Daughter and play some Crystal Gayle, she is her sister and is magnificent.
The Movie Coall Miners daughter is about her life and was filmed here in my area. It stars Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones
I would recommend reacting to a George Jones song. "He Stopped Loving Her Today" was his signature song. Many consider him the greatest vocalist in the history of country music.
But not his best
All George is 👍
Hank is the “greatest vocalist “
Tanya Tucker has a couple of other songs, "What's Your Mama's Name", "Jamestown Ferry", and the most famous " Delta
Dawn"
Wonderful Country singer! You might want to give her and Conway twitty a listen to. They were a great Country duo. 💖
If you get a chance watch the movie Coal Miners Daughter 1980 starring Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones..Loretta Lynn was the queen of country during my time in the 60's. Patsy Cline had taken Loretta under her wing and introduced her to the Grand Ole Opry and helped jump start her career. Patsy was killed in a plane crash in 1963, the same year she released her new and final hit Sweet Dreams. It had a great impact on Loretta and made her even more determined to become The Queen Of Country.
The greatest !! R.I.P.
There's nothing I can say that would be better than just suggesting you watch the movie. Same title one of the best movies ever made, Sissy Spacek plays her and it couldn't have been a better person.
You'll definitely enjoy Dolly Parton and Reba
I will definitely be checking them both out very soon! Just trying to sort a blocking issue on a Reba video so as soon as its solved I will get it out asap! 👍🏻
2021 still love listening to this Legend singing ❤️❤️❤️
Thankyou, so much, for honoring her by putting "Legend Edition" in the title.
Some of our other country music queens (legends), are: Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrel, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, and Reba McEntire. You might wanna write that down, so you can put the same "sticker" on those vids!
Love your reactions!!
She was known as the first lady of country music, now you know why
Taylor Family, Loretta Lynn has a movie about her life actually called The Coal Miners Daughter-
She is the most amazing country singer ever. I have met her many times and through the years has never let fame or fortune go to her head. She just recently held a benefit to raise money for flood victims Waverly Tennessee. Raised nearly a million dollars and all donated to the victims. Awesome singer with an awesome heart!!
