All the different foundation types…BB cream, CC cream, tinted serums, skin tint, foundations. There’s so many different options, and I’m not sure the differences. Thank you!!!
How about a video on ‘Must-Have Tools’ for us regular folks? There are so many tools, applicators, sponges, brushes, wipes, regular q-tips and pointy a-tips ( pointy ones are sooo helpful, IMHO). But I’d love to know what you think are the must-have tools. 💄 Love this series idea, btw! I’m super excited!
Bronzer adds warmth & contour adds shadow and dimension. Contour would be applied where there is a natural shadow or where you want to create or create shape. Bronzer would be applied where the sun would hit your face and create color.
Bronzer goes where the sun hits you. Contour does the opposite, it goes in the shadow part, meaning the sun cannot hit you there. Bronzers can shape but not Sculpt. Contours Sculpt
I’m 70 with very dry skin especially under my eyes. I have started using Aquaphor Healing Balm Stick in my skin care routine and as my primer. This has worked better than a primer for my very very dry sensitive fair skin. This balm is slightly creamier than the lip balm, it works into the skin nicely. Nice low cost alternative for primer for very dry mature skin.
Primer- absolute game changer for me! I only started wearing it literally the last two years at age 45! I have very oily skin and use a pore minimising one that looks matte (designer brands pore minimiser primer- Aussie brand and it’s very similar to trinny London miracle blur) and I also like the Clinique even better primer.
Thank you - this is super helpful. I gave up on makeup many years ago as it slid off my oily face. At 60 I’d like to try again but it’s a whole new world - and I still have oily skin. Love for you to cover some light serum/bb/cc/foundation?? for mature but oily - and how to best pick a shade because now there are so many!
Outstanding suggestion! I'm 54 and also still struggling with oily skin. Have you tried the About-Face Performer foundation? It's light to medium coverage, comes with a doe foot applicator, and is the foundation I receive the most complexion compliments on when wearing. And somehow this foundation actually looks better on me skin up to 5 hours after application than even immediately after. (I use either Fenty Pro Filt'r powder or Uoma Beauty mattifying powder and Milani Make It Last setting spray overtop it. )
Looking forward to the rest of this series as I'm in the process of updating my entire make up bag so this will be a great help! I would love to see a full face video of Victoria Beckham make up. I remember in a previous video you said her make up products are great so would love to see your opinion on the whole range. Love your channel - thanks for the great content ❤
Thank u for clarifying this! Its a challenge with mature skin that is combo /oily though. I want to softly blur texture and also mattify Tzone, but also add hydration to dry cheeks . I guess i need to use 2 types of primers, ugh! I also prefer to minimize the layers of complexion product to avoid cakiness. I hope that makes sense. Most foundation products are either too glowy/oily or too matte/dry. Both formulas exaggerate texture so I search for satins which there is very few out there.
Some primers say they are silicone free. Are there Pros and Cons to using a Primer with or without silicone? Do you need to match that with the "type" of foundation or skin tint you are using, to make them compatible? Thanks!
❤❤❤. Thanks Gabi. Makes perfect sense. I've been wanting to try the Prime mascara, but was curious if it really does work for mature eyelashes like they claim. If you know?
Hi Gabi, I am in the process of going grey from blonde and would like to see a video showing women who chose to go grey, what worked and what did not. Thank you for all your amazing videos!

I would like a concealer that is safe to use if u have eczema around your eyes? Would love a whole makeup suggestion for women with eczema. Enjoy watching and how honest and down to earth you are.
Thank you for this video! This was the one subject that was really 'missing' in my makeup/beauty education. I've always loved makeup (especially glam looks), but when I was first getting into makeup there was no such thing as primer, or setting spray. Heck, the whole setting powder vs finishing powder concept didn't exist either. It's all rather perplexing, but anything that can improve the look of my complexion (a lifelong sore spot for me) is something worthy of consideration.
I got a sample of the Jane iredale smooth affair primer. I wasn’t expecting much but it really blew me away. My skin feels so hydrated with it and it helped my foundation from catching on dry spots. When I run out will be picking it up!
Question, do you need an eye primer plus a primer? I do my morning skin care routine. I wear tinted sunscreen, and use a cream bronzer to add defensión to my face, I add a bit of mascara, and a strong lip. I’m 62 should I be doing something different ?
I love the old school types of videos. I just stumbled onto your channel here about a month ago, and you are amazing! So helpful. I actually didnt know I had wrinkles yet until you brought it up in another video, lol. I appreciate you very much.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have the same questions about concealer: why do I need one and why can’t I just use my foundation for under my eyes?
How do you store makeup brushes properly? Do you have them stored away in a drawer to keep them from getting dusty and then when you want to use them, pull them all out? I need a brush 101 video!! 💕
New subscriber here. Love your positivity and knowledge. I’m 59 and never seen a pore til 50ish🙃. Have normal-dry skin and tried many primers including Elf poreless putty but that one didn’t do much. Maybe I’ll try hydrating one. Always taken care of skin but focusing more on it lately. Living on retirement budget so have to get more affordable options. Great channel!
I'd like to know how to know how to tell if I am warm, cool, olive or neutral. And, based on that - what colors should someone who is warm or cool stay away from?
Gabi, I noticed that when you were applying the primers you went underneath the eyes with primer too. Is this good for someone with dry/mature under eyes?
It depends on the primer you use. Always moisturizer first. You can use a silicone based primer (to fill in the fine lines a little) or a hydrating primer under the eyes. Definitely do not use a mattifying primer.
Thank you Gabi for this video! Very useful! Could you please make a video about hair care in winter/cold weather. How do you protect your hair from getting stressed and static? Thank you in advance! ❤

I have been obsessed with finding a good primer that smooths texture and minimizes the appearance of pores... it seems that ALL of the very silky, dimethicone primers cause me to break out (smashbox, lancome la base, to name just a few of the many I have tried)... this is SOOO confusing because dimethicone is in SO many complexion products and many of these do NOT cause me to break out. Do you think it's the amount of dimethicone? SO CONFUSING? and frustrating because I love the way it looks... just not worth breaking out! Thank you for any advice, tips or product recommendations ❤🙏

I would love to see a video on cleansing products. Like if you're using a series of products such as l'oreal, what should you buy, what do you use first like what's the order you use things in what do you use in the morning versus what do you use at night and so forth. It's just so confusing when you have different product lines selling you so many different products and honestly being able to read the back of the package or the back of the jar is nearly impossible because it's 1.0 font 😮
I have visual impairment and I found a good zoom app for that specific problem. depending on the quality of your phone camera, you won't need any app. You just need to ignore ppl giving you WTF-stares 😂
What is the difference between baking, setting and finishing powders? As a 47 yr old trying to minimize the wrinkles, powders seem to enhance instead of cover them.
I have mature, dry, flaky skin. I do not have time to put make-up on in the morning (I am a single mom of a special needs son and work from home). Is there a primer I could use after my skincare routine so I would not have to use any foundation? Something like a one-and-done option?
Is there a point in using a primer if I don't use foundation? for context- I only use two or three products from this collection: eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipstick. And I'd like to add a primer to my collection. Would it make sense/ be beneficial as a standalone product beneath the blush?
Unless you don’t use proper skincare, then no it wouldn’t be useful. Primer is essentially rebranded skincare. If you use good skincare for your skin type, there is no reason to buy primer if you don’t use foundation (or even if you use it in most cases I’m being honest)
I'd like a video about skin care. The products, the order of use and is it really all necessary? plus: what exactly is the difference in BHA / AHA based exfoliants? I guess you could a whole video just for exfoliation and what ingredients are best for certain skin type. a friend told me about her routine at evening: cleanser - exfoliation - toner - 2 more things I can't remember 😅 and I was like: that's very time consuming and what even is the point in putting 5 different products on your skin before bed? I mean, isn't it kind of "over feeding" the skin? I only do the cleansing and exfoliating... I'm 38 and have oily T-zone, large pores at it and mixed skin type... tried a BHA based exfoliate and think it works really good on my skin and smoothes the surface. Oh and I don't put it on directly with bare hands, I use a cotton pad to rub it all over my face. So the different ways of application and their dis-/advantages would be nice to know too 😉
