Clouds Unheard

“Clouds” is a composition systematically created from a single photograph of a cloud.
Originally written for mixed chorus, there are scores for 4 and 7 voices.
However, by performing the score with a different interpretation and incorporating improvisational elements,
I find it fascinating how various sound forms emerge, much like the ever-changing shapes of clouds.
This recording features improvised piano, layered in a way that maintains a flexible relationship with the score,
neither fully adhering to nor straying too far from it.
It consists only of the first part of the original piece, which was written for mixed chorus.
Going forward, I intend to explore different forms of expression based on the score of “Clouds,”
including more instrumental versions and ones more suited for sleep.
1枚の雲の写真からシステマティックに作曲した“Clouds”は
元々は混声合唱のために作られたもので、4声と7声の為の楽譜があります。
ですが楽譜を違う解釈で演奏し、即興的な要素を取り入れる事で、
雲が形を変えていく様に多様な音の姿が現れてくる事に妙味を感じています。
今回はピアノを即興的に、しかし楽譜から付かず離れずの距離を保ちながら重ねた録音です。
混声合唱の為に作った元の曲の、前半部分のみになります。
今後も”Clouds”の楽譜を基に、より器楽的なものや、
より眠りに向いたもの等いくつかの形を表して行きたいと考えています。
