do a professional/office outfit lookbook!
yesss!
Yes I agree! As a fellow law grad I love your work outfits and would be interested to know where you buy them from :)
I'm a first year law student in the US and it is crazy how different the process is, although it does have some similarities! Congrats on being (almost) done! ♥️
It is so shocking! Same for medical school in Europe and Australia. Makes me wish I was doing my medical school there instead haha
same! plus, the gorgeous weather helps!
Its 4 years and 6 months according to her? for the usa its a 4 year bachelor in any subject of your choice and then take the lsat and apply to a law school where you have another 3 years with expected summer internships for each of those years and then finally a hard test The bar. I totally agree, definitely a big difference.
They have to do the bar here in New Zealand as well, i'm surprised that they don't do that in Australia.
omg I watch your law school vlogs too!! I'll be attending law school on the West Coast this year, so I've been binging on some of your vlogs
I would love to see a professional attire look book!!! Please pretty please!!!
im the same as you ! not naturally smart , but i work hard. wish it was all super easy, but you know we all get there
The reason I decided to watch this video was because I just chose my year eleven subjects and legal studies is one of the things I picked. I'm not sure if I want to be a lawyer but all I really want is stability and structure. I'm very plan oriented and I hate not knowing what's going on and what I'm going to be doing, I've spent all of my teenage life struggling with money and when I'm older I just want to be able to support myself and my future family and not have to struggle like my parents do.
It’s been 2 years now. Have u gotten a job as a lawyer?
I'm about to start a law degree, and was really scared, because I have anxiety and really doubt myself a lot, but this helped me out a lot, tysm for the Q&A and the motivation to pursue what you want!
And how are you going with it?
This was interesting to watch and congrats on almost being a lawyer! You are very persistent and I think that is one of the qualities we need to survive in the legal profession. In the US, the market has been volatile so finding internships, jobs and opportunities as a lawyer is not guaranteed. Many lawyers have been unemployed and some went to other professions. I took 1 year off after my undergraduate degree and worked as a project assistant at a law firm. I then went to law school (3 years), graduated with no job, worked in non-profit legal fellowships, worked solo as an in house lawyer for a startup tech company, then finally started working at a small corporate firm. It has been a journey, but having other interests (wellness, civic service, faith) and awesome friends/family has kept me grounded.
I LOVE how you are in love with fitness and taking care of yourself but that it also isn't the ONLY thing that takes up time in your life! I love how you balance fitness with real life jobs and things. Not everyone can make fitness their whole life without having a proper job, and I love how you divide your time so realistically!
“LawYahhh”
That's how aussies say it
Haha i love it😂
Hahaha 😂😂 why they speak like that like when then say "your" they say like "yo" hahah 😂😂😂😂😂😂🔥
I loved how you explained the process of becoming a lawyer. It's amazing how many people are familiar with the US system (e.g. the bar exam) but have no idea how it works in Australia. People seem so shocked when you tell them you've had to study for 5+ years just for the profession to deem you worthy of being admitted. I'm in SA and finished my law degree in November 2017 (did a double so took 5 years) and am half way through GDLP now.
Our pathway into law school and then into the profession has been very similar too, which is interesting! Thanks for sharing xx
Hi Georgie, I'm a law grad from China, I did my law degree in China, qualified in China and then did my law degree in Melbourne. Studying law in a second language is so challenging, but I met so many good friends in Australia, especially from the law school. I totally got your advice for the clerkship/ job application. This is such a long way, but we all made it! I will complete PLT recently. Really can't wait to become a solicitor! Your video popped up when I was searching how to do well as a law grad. Thankx for all your sharing!
So interesting to hear about the differences in the process in Aus versus US! I’ll graduate in about a month then I have to study for and pass the bar to become a lawyer! We’re both right there at the finish line 👌🏿💕
You're such an inspiration, your hard work and motivation inspire me to not give up.
Hey Georgie, I think you're really inspiring and you show that hard work can really get you places, not just by being 'naturally smart'. I really resonate with that. Just discovered you recently but I'm already loving your content! xx
Thank you lovely! Completely agree :)
@@GeorgieStevenson **IT'S LONG, I APOLOGIZE, however, I would be SO SO SO GRATEFUL if you don't mind helping out.**
I'm actually really jealous because I was not organised in High School & blew off a lot of what my mother told me - stay on top of my studies because my not just grades but those grades make [or break] your transcript. So I desperately regret that now however obviously I cannot undo it. I was not in the absolute bottom of my class but certainly not top 10% either. US high schools do not do the OP... just graduate & go on to college for whatever you're wanting to do & hope you make it. So I finally decided I wanted to study law about 7 years ago however did not get started right away. I've intensely studief the law on my own... literally reading statutes & taking that all in. Deeply uderstand civil procedure, Family Law & Tort Law but the basic starter classes. I'm 39 & plan to move to Australia for my law degree as soon as my last few basics are finished. Here it's 4 your standard uni + 3-years law school. Are you're say it's all 1 uni program in AU? Given my plan to move to AU, I'm unsure the best route to take so either I don't having to duplicate educational requirements I could take in AU or neglect to do something that costs me the ability to become an attorney.
Hey Georgie, I'm a recent uni graduate and have been finding your law/work related videos to be so relevant and helpful! Would really love you to do a video on a corporate wardrobe/work outfit lookbook. I've been struggling to find nice corporate type clothes in my grad job - especially items that don't cost an arm and a leg!
You are honestly one of my favourite UA-camrs Georgie! You are so down to earth and authentic and I find your commitment and dedication so inspirational! Thank you for all of the content you are putting out! Xx
I'm a law grad from Ukraine, and the process is almost the same. Only we have 5 and a half years instead of 4. So you graduate high school, then you have 4 big independent exams on different subjects (usually English, our native language Ukrainian, Ukrainian or world history and math). You have to pass every exam on at least 120 out of 200 and then you can apply to university to study law. You study for 4 years (bachelor's degree), then we pass an exam which consists of 10 subjects and about 500 questions (these subjects are: logic, English, civil law and process, criminal law and process, administrative law and its process, European law, and family law) Again, you have to score at least 120 out of 200 on each of these or you failed. And if you passed those, then you have 1,5 years of your Master's degree. You would think that's it, but nope, it's not. If you want to be a solicitor you have to get through 6 months of a very expensive PLT, aaaaand then you have to pass a qualification exam in a Supreme Court. I'm finishing my 4th year, wish me luck;)
I’m currently at second year law/criminology student in NSW and this video honestly has helped me so much! So thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Especially the last question! I certainly feel like i’ve been having imposter syndrome since I started! I’m a lot like how you described yourself like with assignments and stuff and there are no words to describe how much better I feel about what i’m Doing and just myself in general after watching this! It’s great to watch and listen to someone who speaks openly and honestly about this area of work and what it takes! Thank you so much! Keep up the amazing vids ❤️❤️
No problem, glad it was helpful :)
i'm in the process of starting my law degree in the US and find you super inspiring! it's so nice to see someone passionate about health and fitness and the balance between that portion of your life and your career - makes me feel like i can do it too!! :)
A lot of respect for the hard work you put in Georgie. I'm a lawyer too!
Where do you work? America?
The last thing you spoke on was so important, I'm in my second year in NSW and I was fine with the first year but now I feel out of my depths (I mainly credit the confusion that is a pile of readings given for admin and property)
It's reassuring to hear that it's not all about the inital understanding as long as the hard work and effort is there :)
Congrats! I am an attorney at law as well! But in Switzerland and l see the process is very different! We have to do a law degree at the uni as well (5 years minimum) then we have to do an internship at a law firm as well as at the court for 2 years. After that we have to take the bar exam. 😅😅
Leila Nadia Ours is 4 - 5 years depending on part time or full time. We have to do vacation/shadow work in our 3rd/4th year - this is for a few weeks. After graduating we do 2 years of articles (clerking) as a candidate attorney. After that it's our practicals which is 5 or so months and finally the admission exam...what a long road 😢😭
Hi Georgie, I know this video was posted a while ago, but I literally just stumbled across your channel. There's not a lot of Aussie UA-camrs that are law students/lawyers. I have just started my law degree last year and I also live in Brisbane. I am doing my degree part-time as an online student. I relate almost 100% to all the things you've discussed in this video. Like you, I have also got a bit of experience in a law firm; however, I was lucky enough to get experience before I started my degree. I used to work in a not-for-profit law firm (they weren't classed as a community legal service but they do a lot of work with clients through Legal Aid) and started out as a volunteer for about a year and I loved it so much that I ended up enrolling in my degree. The position ended up turning into a paid position as an admin assistant. I spent about 1 and a half years working there. I have taken a bit of a break from work as it got too hard to juggle part-time hours there with part-time uni (mainly because work was over an hour from where I live). I am about to start a volunteer position of a few hours per week at a community legal service more local to where I live. Like you, I am not naturally smart, but for some reason I've found my degree is not as difficult as I thought and in a lot of ways is actually easier than high school. 🤷 Maybe it's because I have a passion for law, or maybe it's because I was already working in a law environment before starting my degree. I love how you are so relatable.😊
can you do outfits of the week for business professional look?! Love that you mentioned that you have to work hard for things because thats SO me too !!
I’m third year law and in my second year of being a law clerk and it’s so good to hear you show how you got to the end, it’s such a long journey so it’s good to know the finish line isn’t far away. I’ve not looked into community legal centres and volunteering, that’s such a good idea! 💗
Katherine Burke how did you get your position as a law clerk? I seem to apply and apply and get nowhere, I’m third year too 😂😅
Katie Ward no lie girl i spent the first year of my degree just emailing every firm I could find, half just wont reply but I ended up just having perfect timing when I emailed my now boss, he called me that day to meet and luckily he picked me of all the applicants. It’s all about how you present your resume and yourself. Most employers I heard will throw away resumes with spelling errors. It’s little things like that that can seperate you from the rest!
I’d definitely say review how your resume is written/looks, it could help you get something. Good luck girl 💗
Thank you!! I'll definitely revise my resume, it definitely doesn't have any spelling issues (I just shuddered at the thought) but it could definitely use a makeover lol x
Katie Ward I figured you wouldn’t! I shudder too 😂 but at the end of the day I think there’s fortune in timing. But the key to me getting my job was my language and how I presented myself! Hopefully you get something soon x
So grateful you posted this! I’m in Brisbane too and am really wanting to get into law, thanks for sharing :)
The ending part of this video was spot on! I feel as if you were literally speaking to me. I am finish with school in three months and I feel as if I don’t deserve anything tbh. I want to go to law school after and I keep telling myself that I am not smart enough.
Only just found your channel and I'm kicking myself because I love it and you!!
I'm in my graduate diploma of legal practice (PLT) in South Australia right now so by the end of the year fingers crossed I will be admitted!!
Super stressed for finding work though! I didn't do any clerkships as I studied intensively to finish my undergrad quicker. Biggest regret!
Hi Georgie! I'm a long time follower and watcher - I love your channel. I've finished law in Victoria in October and found it hard to get work even though I had experience, it's really competitive down here too! I completely agree with what you were saying about how grads aren't in a position to choose which area of law they would like to go into - I did my degree because I was interested in social justice and spent the last five months working in Debt Litigation! Luckily though I have just gained a position at a family law firm. Hard work definitely pays off. Thanks again for putting all of the effort into your channel - speaking from experience I know it must be hard at times to juggle everything. Just wondering if you could let me know what lippy you have on in this vid? It's divine! Thanks girl :) PS congratulations on your upcoming wedding I'm sure you'll look stunning xx
Thank you so much! So many people feel not good enough to follow their dreams, but you just made it clear that hard work and perseverance makes anything possible 😊
Awesome!!! I'm actually starting my PLT tomorrow and it is also 6 months!
I'm from Central America! It is awesome to hear about different processes for becoming a lawyer in the world!
Yes! I've been waiting for this video! I'm studying engineering currently so it's interesting to hear about your process bc it has the similarity where we have to go through PLT as well to except eng obvs to get the Professional Engineer designation. My degree is 5 years too bc I did over a year worth of working in engineering jobs too :p Have you seen Suits because apparently that show the most crazy things in it which would be a normal lawyers one career highlight.
Thanks for this video Georgie! I'm studying Arts/Law at the moment and I feel like I'm in exactly the same position that you were in with the imposter syndrome and having to work twice as hard as everyone else!! This has definitely motivated me to put myself out there more and work hard! 💕💕✨✨
Yasss!!!! You’re Australian!!!! I just finished watching your day in the life and I was trying to figure it out. Yasss!!!! I’m in Melbourne and in my penultimate year and I am trying to foresee what the next two years will be like.
I’m so excited I found your channel. I’m planning on starting my PLT in December next year so I’m done by March the following year. Wohooooo!!!!! You’ve got a stalker now. ❤️❤️❤️😂😂
omg you go girl!! Glad to have you apart of my little fam
Great video, but I would disagree law is black and white, it's all interpretation of law.
completely agree now after working in it but that is the impression I had in high school :)
No it's not about interpretation, it's about defending your clients who pays you.
@@tomtom-jx6nd are you a lawyer?
Québec, Canada probably has the easiest journey
3 year degree in civil law ( +1 year for common law)
4 or 8 months of mandatory schooling for the Bar exam at the end of that schooling
6 months of mandatory PLT
And boom, you're a lawyer 😊
You're super inspiring. I hope you know that 💖
aww thank you lovely girl!!
Could you please do a work wear clothing look book or haul? xxx
Hi Georgie, watching from NZ (i figured our processes aren't too dissimilar) thanks heaps for this video. Studying a Legal Executive Diploma, 1 year qualification and dreaming about being a solicitor. I think you're really brave and honest to go after what you want and realistic too. Inspiring.
Love this video! So glad to have found a good law youtuber :)
Hey Georgie, thanks so much for answering these questions! It was so great to see your insight ❤
you're welcome Georgia xx
Thank u so much for this video. I havent stepped to uni yet, i have still someore 1 year to finish my high school... but ive really decided to take Law and i really wanna to a complete research about it and this video helped me so much. So many information and thanks for explaining about ur law life and how did u stepped into it. 💕💕
I completely agree with you, that you don't have to be the smartest kid in class, as long as you want to put the needed amount of work into it😊 congrats almost being done, hopefully med in 3,5 year😍
This was such an inspiring video Georgie thank you
Made me feel 100 times better about myself can’t wait to see your wedding video ❤️😘
About to start law at the University of Queensland. So excited
Ben Simmons omg!! Congratulations, that is such a huge achievement.
Choeyloverr thanks so much haha
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm currently going through almost all the things you mention!
As soon as she said ‘you have to apply to the Supreme Court’ I was like wow. Australia is whack.
i want to become an international lawyer
I did OP, I got an 8, had to do an year of Business and then apply for Law the year after at QUT. I’m doing the double degree now and worried I won’t get a job since my GPAs only 4.3 and I’m going into my final year next year. I’ve applied for general law jobs and Clerkships for 3 years and didn’t get a single one.
Hi Georgie! Followed you for all your inspiring health and fitness videos, just a bonus that i'm also a law student and you put out useful vids on these topics too! It might be a little different from your main focus but I was wondering if you'd ever do videos on the outfits you wear to work because i'm applying to clerkships etc. and just realised I have no clue what to wear! Or even if you could just do a little ootd in some of your other videos for inspo! Love ya! xx
Can you do a video on the different cosmetic procedures you've had done? I've been researching for myself and would love to hear your story! Love you and your videos, Georgie!
Interesting, the process is quite similar in Germany... I'm done since two years (and so glad its over ;-) ) and congratulations to you almost being done!
im a law student and i find it comical that you would call the law black and white ITS GREY!!!!
same! i was like :o its the biggest grey area!!

Same but I'm 12!
Needed this. Thank you!! ❤
Where is your turtleneck from?? So cute and great video, it was super helpful
Love your uploads!!!!
What Brand/colour lippy are you wearing? Also once you graduate what type of Lawyer will you be.
My favorite subject as a law student was Trusts
Thanks You and very useful 👍
Imposter Syndrome!! Holy heck there is a name for it.... wow... I feel a little better about where I am in my engineering degree now.... Thank you Thank you .... I am so not classed as a 'smart person' aswell but I am a hard worker... I'm new to your channel lovely and really appreciate your advice and day in the life posts! So thank you
I'm sure you're doing great-- hard work outweighs being 'smart'
Please... stop... with... the... dots... I beg you lass
queensland is so weird, the rest of aus uses ATAR 😂💗
Georgellen ATAR is fairly recent. All of the states used to have different systems.
I graduated a while ago but I'm pretty sure QLD is/or has changed from the OP system
im grade 11 in Qld atm and we are switching to ATAR in 2020, therefore I'm the last OP cohort :)
Before they decided to get rid of OP you could choose to do ATAR instead of OP in QLD, I did :)
ATAR has been around like at least 6 years, not that new..
Respect the hard work
Thanks!
I’m from South Africa and am currently finishing my Honours in finance.. can anyone offer me some guidance as to how I can get into studying law in AUS?
Hi Keaton , There are to 2 pathways to study law in Australia. Pathway one is a Combined LL.B or a single LL.B degree. A LL.B degree is for undergraduate students (commonly popular with recent High School leavers) and has a duration for 4-5 years . Pathway 2 is a JD ( Juris Doctor) program. the JD program is a postgraduate degree that is 3 years long and pretty expensive depending on the school. My advice for you is to compare the different Law schools across , find the best program for your personal and financial situation. TBH find a JD/LL.B program that has the PLT (if you want practice law) incorporated into the degree to save money and time (UTS single LL.B program) and maintain/obtain a competitive GPA (3+/4 GPA or 5.25+/7.0 GPA) in your Finance degree.
@@jrozario494 Thanks for such a comprehensive reply.
Love the law videos keep them coming !!!
Yessss thank you! 🙏🏽 needed this!
Wow, thanks, for being so honest!
Love it! Giving me the inspiration to study harder! xo
Every state is different, in WA you get admitted but you cant practice on your own unless you complete a restricted phase
I'm just about to finish year 12 and my anxiety about law school is rising through the roof.
This was so interesting! Loved getting an insight into your career 😊 x
thanks lovely! :)
Hey, I have a very important question. So, to become a lawyer. You graduate high school (with GCSEs and A levels), then go to university and earn a bachelor's degree in whatever subject, take the LSAT, go to law school and graduate, take the bar exam, and become a lawyer? If so, then I don't understand the going to university and earning a bachelor degree on whatever subject and then going to law school, I thought that you took the LSAT to enter a law collage at university and then graduate and take the bar test... Isn't law school the same as a law collage?
I shall be automating always services

I've never heard anyone pronounce it cl-ar-k, and I'm from Australia

No we don’t? I’m from Australia and I’ve never heard anyone pronounce is ‘Clark’
Yeah I thought that was the proper pronunciation but I guess she worked as one and says it like that so what the hey 😂😂
I’m Aussie and no we don’t lmao
