  • Unboxing the DLE-222 RC plane engine. Fuel consumption at idle is around 3 oz. in 3 minutes or 1 oz. per minute of 30:1 fuel. Tach is X10 type, so idle RPM was around 3600.

I remember when I first got mine....good times... Took mine completely apart, checked all the rings, ports, machined surfaces, and everything I could think of for burrs, foldover, and general grit and swarth. It was pretty good, but I still had some sharp edges on ports especially. Hooking rings in ports is rare on these but it does occasionally happen. Also used gas proof thread sealant on every bolt that goes into the crankcase. Should be good to go. I'm just paranoid about details on something this expensive especially, but also just attention to detail in general.
I keep changing my mind on what plane to put it in, but have finally settled on a nice Giles G202. It's a little big for the airplane, but I've never regretted that, lol. Just finishing up my test stand. Got the plane from a fellow RC buddy. It's in good condition, but I want to sheet, glass, and recover it first. I'm okay with a winter maiden. It doesn't get all that cold for all that long where I live anyway.
Are you running the included DLE spark plugs? Some people say they're okay, others say their engine was running weird, only to find out when they checked it, one of the plugs had broken in half! I put Champions in mine just to be safe, and I'm keeping the factory ones as spares.
You paramotoring with yours? Or RC? Pretty cool channel. Fan of r pi stuff also. ☺️

it should, chinese fly paragliders with the two cylinder dle 160/170? and there is one dude on youtube who built a paramotor with a dle 222….i bought one last year for the very same reason, but didn,t build the bird so far bcs i changed from Zimmerman wing…to biplane/triplane down to a down scaled 55% fighter design with almost AR6, 30-40% less wingarea plus full flaps and spoilers….so it will take at least another year to build it now, after i escaped the usual low AR discrepancies most novices get caught in, but was an interesting journey to learn all that….it „should“ work, as a J cup has basically the same thrust to weight ratio and similar AR and drag values, and those are long know well behaving birds…..just the technical councel asking my reason to increase the wing loading by 60% might hopefullly accept my calcukated stall speed…which is still 24 knots at 148 kilos cross and 4,4 m2 wingarea….so someone might get an idea which i stalled the design for a full year and basically halved the wing area…..and AR5.7-6 means 1/4 of the drag the zimmerman ( Arup4) wing would have had….but thise flew with even a lower power to weight ratio….just compare wiki data about all kinds of GA airplanes and THE ACTUAL THRUST THOSE OLD CRAPPY ENGINES AND PROPS PRODUCED,…so, technically on paper….yes🤷‍♀bon chance!
