    Yes, the bulgrian split squat is a killer! The first time I did them I couldn't sleep on my back for 3 days; my ass was in pain!!! 😅

    I hate back squats so I kind of started doing this without realizing why. Step ups, bulgarian split squats, reverse lunges, hip thrusts and lighter or one leg RDLs are all I feel like i need

    Great channel! Simple explanations and recommendations. Single legs also end up being less expensive if you are working out at home, because you don’t need to buy so much weight.

    Bro I know cardio has anti-gains sometimes but I highly recommend following Wanhee’s exact routine here for weight training, but in your cardio, start doing an 80/20 marathon prep split. That likely means gym time gets cut down to 3-4 days per week to allocate more running time, and your gains will slow - but it does wonders for overall aesthetic / leanness while also gaining

    I'm confused, you preach to do big compound lifts like squats and deadlifts, and now you're advising against it?

    • @bensonvong
      @bensonvong 8 місяців тому +3

      Problem with squat and deadlift is not the exercise itself. It is the ego/comparison mindset many have with bsd lifts (bench, squat, deadlift). People get hurt with these lifts because they are pushing too hard trying to increase their 1RM. Even Wanhee mentioned about people getting anxious days before they know they will be going for 1RM. The reason is people compare 1RM for this lifts. Maybe with friends, maybe looking up strength standards on a website and having a goal. Of course having goals is good, but it can also cause overtraining, over pushing when you aren’t ready which is what often causes injuries.
      I mean you can get injured doing Bulgarian split squats as well. But how many people are doing 1RM maxes for those. Imagine if there was a contest to see who can get the highest 1RM for Bulgarian split squats, I am sure tons of people would get injuries training for it. As it has a balance component as well.
      So squats and deadlifts are perfectly fine as long as you have the right mindset.
