Hi, It should work with the NiMh battery supplied. Just make sure it's turning on with a Red light for the NiMh mode on. Maybe your battery run flat after that? So make sure your battery is also fully charged both the NiMh in the car and also the AAs so pop some new fresh AA in the transmitter. Hope that helps a bit more.

i got a zeee lipo battery with an adapter for my rustler 4x4 and it blinks red and green, powers the steering servo but wont go. i put the traxxas battery in and it works.
Hello! I also have a problem with an erevo vxl 1/16, esc velineon 3m, it doesn't go backwards anymore, I reset everything possible, it receives the command, the red light on the esc lights up but it doesn't want to go backwards, i- I also did the test on another car. Sincerely, Octavian!
So I have a trx4 K5 Sunset Blazer. I recallabrated it but I didn’t hear beeps at the end, When it starts now it’s not blinking green and it red light. BUT IT DRAINS THE BATTERY FAST. When going to use it. But I don’t know if it is the battery. Traxxas NIMH 3000 B. I changed the battery but I didn’t use it Right way.
The ni mh battery doesn’t last as long as a lipo so I may just be the time you will get. Also you should charge a ni mh just before you want to use it and just be before you pack it away for a while then recharge just be fore you use it again to make sure it’s fully full every time you run or it will be half empty as they effectively leak some charge over time on their own even without being connected or used. Hope that helps.
Hey man thanks. I hope it’s not the battery. I did have a Traxxas 4200 NIMH battery and it went bad. Sucks there no 2 or 3 party batteries with the new Traxxas Connecters.
Sometimes the esc needs to be reset and rebinded to the radio. To do this remove the rubber cover on the top of the receiver. Inside is a 'set' button. Push down the set button inside receiver while you power on the esc while also pushing down 'set' button on top of the radio. The radio and car should be binded again.

Hi Rick, thanks very much. If you have the brushed car with the xl-5 esc then the esc will only be good up to 2s lipo. The 11.1v is a 3s lipo so I wouldn’t recommend plugging that into the xl-5 esc. There is a xl-5 hv esc in the crawlers like the defender and the bronco which is a 3s esc which you can use the 3s battery. Hope that helps.

Hi wondering if you can help me, mine has lipo and is brand new but is doing the flashing red and green light and it steers but dosent do the accelerate like yours!
It is suggesting you have to low voltage in the battery so I would check the voltage there first. I would reset everything back to factory settings using the full version of the manual from the car you have and check everything is plugged in correctly to the receiver and make sure you're using Traxxas id batteries and not using any adapters from the battery to the esc so your getting the proper current as intended. Also make sure your batteries are all fully charged and not at fault. (Voltage Check) Make sure the battery is the correct voltage for the esc too. If you're not sure how to do all that I would get down to your local Traxxas reseller as they should be able to make sure everything it set up correctly and give you advice. After that it's fault finding. Motor, Esc, Receiver, Transmitter, Battery. Hope that helps a little. Start with the lipo battery voltage.

Ah yeah the xl-5 only goes up to 2s power on lipo. Sorry the shop haven’t been able to advise correctly on this. That definitely wouldn’t of happened at my shop when it was open lol. Hope it gets sorted quickly for you as it’s a cool car that rally and it will be great running on the 2s pack.

Question : what happens if you plug in a LiPo battery when ESC is set to NIMH battery
You will likely run the battery flat beyond where it should as there is a minimum voltage they need in each cell to stay good. So best not to do that.
