- Birds love to eat insects specially during the breeding season and many species relly on a source of live food in order to successfully raise their own chicks. In this video ill show you how you can make compost in your outdoor aviary to attract small insects that your birds will eat.

@@paradiseaviary oh man! I had 2 heaters on my aviary to keep these fellas safe from the freezing temperatures. The bad part was the power went out for a couple days so I had to bring my birds inside my house. The things we do for these lovely animals.
Aint that the truth !!! These birds are an addiction lol. Im glad you where able to keep them safe and stay warm. Luckly things are back to normal now.

I’m building a large outdoor aviary and will be using 3/4” netting to cover the aviary. The aviary will be mainly as a daytime outdoor flight for my Eclectus parrot, but I’m curious if I would be able to keep some larger finch species that won’t escape through the larger netting openings. Could you do a video comparing finch sizes in your aviary? Similar to your video where you had parrot finch mutations side by side for comparison.

Hi Jeffrey glad that your enjoying the videos! you live very close im located in tampa. I love that video idea ill start that one soon and compare some of the sizes of these birds so you have an idea which ones would be best for your aviary. Although keep in mimd its never a good idea to mix hookbills with finches they can kill the smaller finches if they get a hold of them.
@@paradiseaviary great...looking forward to that video. Now I know where to find finches if I ever decide to add them to the aviary! :-). Thanks for the comments regarding be cautious about the parrot potentially harming finches, it is a thought that has definitely crossed my mind.

I was never able to capture the escaped red throat male but did successfully foster their eggs under a pair of societies an the chicks have hatched they are doing great ! Ive also added a new male to the outdoor aviary for the lonely female.
