Very informative, we are lucky in Australia for accessing termites, I'm in the northern part of Australia in the rainforest area it's a honey hole of termite mounds here, perfect size
Great video Rancel. One thought about collecting the termites though. Have you thought about bringing one of those small rechargeable handheld vacuums? You can still get some pieces of the rotting log but i know you can’t grab the ones that are still running around with your fingers but maybe you could vacuum even more that way.. Just a suggestion, good luck with your finches!
Yes they will, ive used them in the past only bad thing is crickets are fast so they dont stay put and its hard to feed it to them. I use to put them in the freezer for 5 min prior to feeding and this would slow them down so the birds could eat them
are parasites a concern at all ? i used to keep reptiles, and people seemed mixed on whether to feed wild bugs due to parasites. i feed my finches dried bug mixes, but i picked up a pair of cordon bleus recently and have been thinking about buying some live worms for them. i'm not sure i'm brave enough to go picking bugs from the wilderness to feed them though...
Thats a very good question, yes you have to be carefull how you keep these so that they dont get away and into your home. I keep all my birds outside of my home thats why I offer it to them.
Lol yup if I had the birds in the house I wouldnt feed it just incase but its hard for them to start a colony once you get them out the wood they die easily and the birds dont leave any.... trust me !!! 🤣

Nice.. good to see you using termites.. i’ve had success freezing them and feeding out with a few live ones to get them going …
I use to do that when i would feed them to birds indoors... works great !!!

Very cool vid but i got a question. Won't you have a problem with termites infesting your house later on!?
Thats a very good question, yes you have to be carefull how you keep these so that they dont get away and into your home. I keep all my birds outside of my home thats why I offer it to them.
Bro that green colour bird name?
What else can you recommend in alternative to mealworms?
My two favorite sources of live food are termites and fruit flies. The birds love em !
So kewl!! Just afraid that what they don't eat will set up a colony😮😅
