Note: 1. To combine the model in PS, ctrl+c on a folder in one file and shift+ctrl+v (shift to paste in center) in another file, then adjust the position with the move tool or ctrl+T, pretty straightforward! 2. Procreate layer limit depends on your IPad’s specs! I specifically upgraded to an IPad Pro (12.9 inch) 6th gen to get more layers🙏 3. DPI doesn’t affect the digital drawing, it is only a setting you set for printing! 4. For other free softwares, Ibis paint should work too, and for PC softwares medibang, krita, and gimp all didn’t work for me soooo 🏴☠️🏴☠️
Note for anyone planning on getting an iPad: If you want the highest layer limit in Procreate you'll need an iPad Pro (either size) with more than 1TB of storage. This will give you 16GB of RAM instead of the usual 8GB RAM on the smaller storage options (the RAM determines the layers) :)
Why do i feel like drawing it in procreate would help someone from getting overwhelmed by the layers of a full model, plus its in part so its like a list to follow perfect for adhd and getting the feeling of like too much to do! Well done so pretty
I can become a rigger because of your tutorial. I am deeply grateful from the bottom of my heart. Although the commissions I receive are not much, but they can help me in these difficult economic times.
Hey! Just a note with desaturation when exporting in procreate: This is due to the Display P3 colour profile setting when you create a canvas in procreate. The logistics of Display P3 is that it’s a more accurate match to all of the colour displays on the apple ipad, which innately has more colour variety than other displays. Other applications such as PS, Clipstudio, Ibispaint etc. all use settings of RGB or CMYK (for print). Those are not adjusted especially for the Apple IPad which is why you get a ‘desaturated effect’ on procreate. One can avoid this by going into colour profile when creating a canvas and selecting either RGB (recommended from me just for artists to make a habit - because that’s the default for printing as well) or CMYK. This will result in your art on procreate colour matching to other applications. Hope this helps! :D
honestly I could never even dream of doing vtuber model related stuff but this video is so helpful for using procreate in general like what?? i’ve had the app for like 3-4 years now and I could never get that used to it (im more used to ibis paint x) but all these shortcuts and showing what all the complicated looking tools do is just !!!! i didn’t even know the app had liquify????? this is the start of a new era for my art i swear 😭😭 thank you sm 🫶
I’ve been debating trying to make a vtuber but always found the layering part so daunting… but to see you absolutely GIRLBOSS THRU and just make your own streamlined process is so inspiring 😭👏👏 you’re amazing!!! Grabbing my ipad NOW TYSM!!!
I have been using procreate for many years because of my disability.... even this is new to me. I actually wanted to make my vtuber model in procreate years ago but many artists discouraged it because if the sizing problems. seeing this I want to open my iPad and start drawing right away. I even have live 2D available and ready since I paid for 1 year use. thank you sooo much for this tutorial XD
I've been happiest working in procreate over all the other desktop programs tbh, the limitations of the iPad made it so that procreate is the closest to a sketchbook feel as possible compared to the others, the program is simpler but the drawing experience is so much more fun for me
7:19 LEGEND. ive been doing this the long way for ages. select, copy, paste on new later, select, move off the canvas 😂😂 ty for showing me a quicker way
Your designs and sketches are absolutely gorgeous. 🥺 Seeing the process is so mesmerizing as to how you begin drawing a character. If you ever post more of them, be it timelapses, tutorials, or livestreams, I would love to watch!
0:26 That effect is incredible! Never seen anyone's model be able to undergo a transformation like that 😲I want to learn how to make this possible so badly!
POV: me watching this being a procreate hater personally just to see how yall mange in these trying times. honestly super impressive! your models are stunning!
so I CAN make my model on procreate! everyone tells me not to but seeing the amazing models you make with it shows it definitely IS possible! once I get my pc I’ll get to work :3
Omg your models and arts in general are so gorgeous😭❤️ You are so inspiring, I am very grateful to you for your efforts. Good luck in your development and more cute and lovely customers!💕
As a regular digital artist I binding that square button to Eraser as the most used tool beside brush. It's interesting to notice how other's use this one.
9:24 I actually have contacted Procreate support about this issue, and they told me it was due to an old behaviour in the program that causes the transparent pixels to be remembered when importing. They also said that this is something that is on their radar, and they are hoping to improve it in the future. Though in what kind of timeframe I have no idea.
This is the most amazingly helpful guide! I've been trying to find resources on making a model on procreate and was going to give up until I saw this! You are a queen!!! 👑
you can duplicate groups on medibang by selecting the folder and then clicking the "duplicate layer" button at the bottom right! it might be hidden in an extra menu if the sidebar is too small though, click the empty button that's furthest to the right. ctrl c + v directly on the folder produces a merged version of all the layers in the folder, which is sometimes a useful as a shortcut.
Sry for getting back so late, but would you able to duplicate a folder to another file? It seems that it only duplicates it in the same file and we would need to transfer the folder and keep the layers separate for rigging
This dropped at the perfect time. I'm in the process of redoing my model and didn't think i could do it in procreate because of the absurdly low layer limits. So many great tricks too! Thank you!!
YOU SAVED ME WITH THAT LAST PART BECAUSE I ACTUALLY MADE MY PRACTICE MODEL IN LIVE 2D (also made in procreate) ANDI WAS WONDERING IF IT WAS JUST BECAUSE MY LINES ARE FUZZY (they were but not by a lot) AND AHH THERE WAS NO FIX I COULD FIND RAAAHH THANKS
i'm watching this as i am working on redrawing my model in procreate for rigging lol procreate vtuber artists rise!!! our limitations will not stop us!!!
Why was this video being posted timed perfectly for me?? Ive been making vtuber models for a long while now, and as ive gotten better at it its been equally frustrating that all the tutorials on youtube are all very "beginner" tutorials so I could never grow, learn more shortcuts, or advance my models. Just as I was about to give up this video is right on my recommended page 😭😭😭 Thank you sm!!
Vtuber artists are amazing. There are just so many work done in their models and I am mindblown!! Not everyone can do this. I truly commend your effort and endurance
I love this tutorial! It helped my gain the courage to make a model of my own! Thanks so much for posting this. P.S. Thank you for recommending the brushes the auto outline brush is now my favorite brush🥰
This is so insane! I’ve been wanting to make a Vtuber model (without learning a new program since procreate is my main one and I am super slow) so this is a GODSENT! It’s so detailed and you go over so many potential roadblocks I might have never known about before! ❤
That model at 0:21 thats like a fox with a pink skirt and legs warmers, how were you able to rig it to turn not only the head but the body fully left and right? Did you have to draw the side of the body as well or is it just drawn front facing and you achieved those angles with rig only and no additional art? It looks so amazing!!
Thank you so much. This is genius 💚 I drew my first model in Procreate (half body) now I want to try a full body fancy one with more layers so this helps a lot.
whaat wait i was always looking for videos on vtuber model in procreate but I didnt know you did them in procreate your models are always so pretty and detailed omg 😭💜
I appreciate this, I love procreate so I’m sooo glad I can even make models in it. And it also just nice to know some more tips like how you make shadows
I love the tutorial, I also work in procreate, but in my case I am creating animations in after effects, the process is kind of similar to what you do (But much more simple). I had so many errors with the way that I created my characters, I had to redo a lot of things hahaha, anyway, thank you for the tutorial, is very helpful. Some day I want to create models like yours, I love your art!
This is how I made my first model! I ended up splitter and duplicating a lot in photoshop xD procreate may be limited but artists persevere. Nothing is limiting when you creative c: I also love that hair brush oh my gosh.
BEO THIS LITEEALLY CAME OUT EXACTLY WHEN I NEEDED THIS I THOIHGT PROCREATE WAS BAD AND CLIP STUDIO WAS THE BEST BUT U BEING MY IDOL THAT I JUST FOUND OM MY RECCOMENDED IM MOTIVATED TO USE PROCREATE AGAIN :OOOOO :DDDD
omg thank you, this gave me hope that I can actually make a model!! I've tried a bunch of times but gave up in the end mostly because of the layer limit!
1:19 the reason that the lines looks pixelated is that the DPI is kinda low, i know it helps to run the program, but at the end you can change it to 300 dpi, that is enough to make it look so much better
Note:
1. To combine the model in PS, ctrl+c on a folder in one file and shift+ctrl+v (shift to paste in center) in another file, then adjust the position with the move tool or ctrl+T, pretty straightforward!

girly what brushes are your fav!!?

Thank you for this PS... i was wondering why I was only getting 6 layers. My ipad is small :(
try Hi-Paint, it's a procreate clone for Android, I use it on my Samsung (S3 and Active Tab2) tablets I got for $50 used.
YOU DRAW ALL YOUR MODELS IN PROCREATE??? QUEEN YOU DROPPED THIS 👑
FR

OH MY GOD I DID NOT READ THAT AS "RIGGER" AND IW AS VERY CONCERNED

Ohh that's why, thank you so much for sharing this info!!
@@MerelyWufeii Allg! I had the same issue for so long and eventually figured it out by reading a lot of procreate forum posts 💀💀
Omg I never knew this! I’ve been having so many issues with my colors not converting correctly when I export my files and now I know WHY!
I was just about to comment about the sRGB thing! Glad you mentioned it!
Omg i follow you in insta! i can't believe i accidently found your youtube channel lmao@@tokioeee

Same! I feel like there’s so many hidden tools for procreate that I had no clue about and I’ve have and used the program for almost 6 years atp!!
Her sketch is so nicely rendered you’d think it’s a final!
I’ve been debating trying to make a vtuber but always found the layering part so daunting… but to see you absolutely GIRLBOSS THRU and just make your own streamlined process is so inspiring 😭👏👏 you’re amazing!!! Grabbing my ipad NOW TYSM!!!

As a regular digital artist I binding that square button to Eraser as the most used tool beside brush. It's interesting to notice how other's use this one.
You have a talent for character designing. Your designs don’t look too over the top while also not looking generic or mediocre.
