Thanks Les, about 800 parts from memory, enjoy your trip. If you could I'd love a picture of a 1960s/1970s 6 wheel drive International Acco (Butter box). It was one of the first heavy trucks ever drove before I moved on to Semis.
      Cheers Mike

Looks great! Have the 86 and the 52. The sand pipes are a different story. Use the card board they are on to shape new ones.

Thanks Paul, I've started on the sand pipes and you are quite right they are a nightmare. I'd love to see a pic or two of your builds. I'll show how I get on in the next video.
      Cheers Mike

I do believe the brakes are fail to safe as the brake cylinders actually hold off the brakes, and do NOT apply them. Thats the job of the Handbrake.

There are only two Connecting roods, these are from the Crosshead to the main driving wheel crank pin/ then Side rods to the rest of the driving wheels, there ae also radius rods, links and all the rest have their own particular name, I suggest one looks out the details of the nomenclature and parts of a railway steam engine. One no doubt take time to research deeply a vehicle or aircraft, so why not this engine? Take care.

      Hello Alan,
You clearly know your stuff, and I think you could be right about the hold off brakes. As for the names of all the parts of the braking system I have no idea, my area of semi expertise is in heavy trucks and I'm sure you wouldn't be able to name or describe the purpose of all to the parts of an air braking system, and to be fair very few in this hobby would hold that against you.
In regard to researching the kits I build you are quite right I do research them to a reasonable degee, however with this kit there there is a lot of conflicting information.
There were around 6500 built by several companys and they were built under war time austerity and the specs apparently varied wildy.
However back to the brakes, it's hard to get away from the fact that there is only one set of rods and levers and if one failed the amount of brake loss would depend on how close to the cylinders the fail was.
I would be interested to know how the hand brake works, is operated by the same set of rods and levers?
      Cheers Mike.
