LA TERRA TREMA
The Earth Will Tremble, also known as The Earth Trembles) is a 1948 Italian dramatic film directed by Luchino Visconti. The movie is adapted from Giovanni V. novel I Malavoglia (1881) (The House by the Medlar Tree) for the screen. The events depicted in this film occur in Italy in Sicily and precisely in the town of Aci Trezza, located on the Ionian Sea not far from Catania. The story the film tells us is the same as that in the world is renewed from year to all those countries where men exploiting other men. The houses, roads, boats, the sea, are those of Acitrezza. All actors in the film were chosen from among the inhabitants of the country: fishermen, women, laborers, masons, fish wholesalers. They know no language other than expressing the Sicilian rebellions, pains and hopes.
