the way they were done looked ridiculous. it would just look better sans roses but if they must be added, into the hydrangeas themselves would be best. all of the arrangements looked messy imo.
You say to make sure there are no leaves on your stems yet you put 2 aspidistra leaves to hide your stems. Seen this said a couple of times by other florists. How does that go?
I use Alum, it is a pickling spice. Just put it on a plate and then dip the stem into it and then put in the vase. Let me know how it goes. You will see I have a video on this also.

I find as long as you change the water regularly these leaves are ok to use.
