I wanted to play this game for years, I’m so glad that I waited for the Definitive Edition because it’s on my top ten favorite games of all time list now.
If only I had a Switch, I’d be all over this. I’m trying to think of a decent shirtless Reyn comment, but the timing isn’t coming. Either way, awesome review, as usual. :)
Beaten this game last month, never played any xeno game but god dame I feel in loved with this game. The Character The Story THE SOUNDTRACK, love this game so much
I have this - and finished no less - on the New 3DS. Even on the small screen, the scale was so impressive with the world. Sadly, I never finished the sequel on the Switch, and probably won't. Got to that cave in chapter 7 I think? And it wanted me to utilize skills I hadn't been taught in thirty hours or so. Still liked it though and happy the series is doing well.
Field skills are one of the worst things about XB2. I mean who tf thought it was a good idea to lock progression behind rng. You could potentially open cores all day and still not get the skill you need smh
Yuuppp! Such an amazing game, and great review! I haven't play it since the original was released, but I honestly couldn't stop raving about it back then. The quality of life improvements look amazing and the only reason I didn't play this on day 1 is that I'm totally addicted to the Trails series which is taking me forever to get through. I still think that XBC1 has the best exploration out of any game to date. It was incredible and the environments look even more beautiful now! Hopefully I'll get a chance to play it some time this year.

Yeah they made Reyn WAY hotter in the remaster. Makes me feel like I put Reyn in the friendzone but then 10 years later he grew up and got smokin hot😳. Now im looking at my husband Dunban wondering if I made the wrong decision 😒
Great review! I never expected to buy Xenoblade Chronicles for the 3rd time, but it was worth it because I finished it for the first time on the Switch!
Did you notice how PSO2 somehow sneaked it way on to the steam store? The days of getting IP blocked are finally over. Still i will hold on to my grudge against sega. The ip block wont be forgiven 🤐
Also if you listen to colony 9’s night theme you’ll hear a bit of xenogear’s “those who bear fangs at god” mixed in as well. I love all the additions they made to connect xenoblade 1 to the greater xenomultivers as a whole beyond just the zohar being in XC2.
I'm so happy this game sold over 1 million copies. I really respect Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. They're games that have a lot of heart put into them. No microtransactions. No Stupid DLC. The entire Base Game is a complete plot
@@synysterpain Most of it's problems are really felt after you meet Aerith because there's a lot of bloat in the areas, and also with regards to few things about sephiroth

It's one of the best games ever, not just JRPGs. There are a ton of sidequests, though. I tell people: just don't do them if you don't want to. Unlike...some other games...the sidequests truly are optional. You could do the entire game w/o touching any of them. But a lot will auto complete if you pick them up and just play as you normally would since the generic NPC quests don't require you to report back or anything. But if your concern is time or "grind" or the like, then you can ignore them and just explore at your leisure in the beautiful open world and advance the story.
@@theanimerapper6351 You might need to do some fighting to keep your levels up, but Xenoblade seems pretty good about being non-grindy between the exponential xp increases for each level and the higher xp rewards from fights when the enemy is above your level. I've always done at least half the side quests and been slightly overleveled so I can't say for sure. But I don't think you'd fall behind that much, overall. The team you use also matters. An ether focused team (Melia, Riki, and either Sharla or Seven) can take down higher level enemies much easier than a physical based team.
I see shirtless Reyn everywhere, balanced as it should be. Joking aside, as someone who played the original once I felt the same thing about every mechanic coming natural to me, I enjoyed it so much alongside the remastered soundtrack. About FC, it’s true that it felt a bit anticlimactic the end and the villain was just for the sake of tension or even less, but still liked more interactions between Melia and Tyrea and their thoughts after the end the main story. 10/10 review for a 10/10 game for me at least 🤩
This game was the best RPG of the last decade and you can't change my mind. I couldn't finish it on my original playthroughs due to life happening, but I was finally able to beat it this time. Its been a long time since I've literally cried of happiness after finishing a game. As of the Definitive Edition, this game is damn near perfect.
Great review that was fun to watch and well worth the wait! :) Also THANK YOU for excluding Future Connected from the rating. Though I loved the new area itself, everything else felt rather shallow and bland to me compared to the main game, so I agree with you on not letting it influence a rating for the otherwise phenomenal experience. And yea, I too had wished for some kind of mounts (e.g. Juju's buggy!) :D
This is my first play through of Xenoblade. Completely agree about the combat system. I was really confused at first. Like... Why is my character attacking, I’m not pressing any buttons. Appreciate the side by side comparison with the Wii version. I thought the Definitive Edition graphics were mediocre but after seeing the Wii version, its a big upgrade. I still think the character movement, especially walking could have been reworked. It’s.awkward. The music and story are amazing. About 60 hours in and still feeling it! Great review, just subscribed.
so excited to get this in the mail today! I had the original on Wii and was an idiot and traded it in. Can't wait to give it another shot and your wholesome review really got me pumped! I swear though if Gamestop sends me an an opened copy that I bought as "new" like theyve done to me like half a dozen times I'm gonna kick rocks! I have a love/hate relationship with Gamestop sometimes theyre cool like giving my ps4 warranty a 1tb upgrade when I only paid for 500gb or their little coupons they give out around your bday- other than that yuck I prefer best buy, target, or amazon.
I cried finishing this in 3ds becaise the last boss was so hard to beat. But by far this has the greatest story for me. And the landscape, even if it was muddy with 3ds, was still breathetaking. Perhaps when I get a switch I'll play this again.... who am I kidding... Yes!!! I think its worth it!!!
I hated the battle system at first. Still not sure I like it, but you get used to it. I never dove into the affinity coins or gem collecting to boost my characters' relationships, but the storyline was so incredible! Sometimes the cutscenes are just like watching a really dope anime.
I love Xenoblade so much, it's my favorite gama, but as much as I want to play this one, I really don't have the time. I can't even seem to finish 30 hours game, let alone a game I sunk 90 hours last time I touched it. Great review, tho!

I didn't have a problem with the visual update... Them bushes looked better! However, Shulk just looked younger in various scenes, than he did in the original...Reyn and Shulk are only 1 year apart, but Reyn looks like Shulk's caretaker at times. Which made the romantic options weird as well.. Would it feel okay for Lady Pelvic to have Shulk with no shirt on like Reyn for the same reason? It'd be creepy to me. Aside from running a Wii game, in 720p and not 1080p... I thought it was a good port. This is probably an unpopular place to post these opinions though... But, I felt compelled to say them. Good video!
One might ask what is the best part of Xenoblade Chronicles? The story? Music? Beautifully crafted environments? Lovable characters? Well yes... but no. It is the fiery feeling of immersion you get hearing these British lads shouting in the heat of battle “Yeah, I’m turnin up the heat!” “Electric Gutbuster!” “This’ll leave a mark: Shaker Edge!!” I find all these wonderful phrases clouding my thoughts even when I am making my trek to the kitchen for a snack, and I wouldn’t have it any other way In all seriousness though, it was a treat going through this game again and a Future Connected scratches a minor itch for me when it came to certain characters. I am looking forward to whatever comes next.... perhaps Xenoblade Chronicles X2?
Ooh, fantastic review. Really clued me in on the game. It's on sale right now and I'm super-tempted but... I am mortal. I have only one span on this Earth, and this game looks bloody huge.
My only problem with the remastered ost is for some tracks the vocals are different most notably for me was engage the enemy and the instrumentation sounded different on a few tracks like obstacle in our path and the mechonis central factory theme but I quickly got used to this
I don't think I'll ever get to properly play this game. But I think that if I was introduced to it by your review, I'd probably give it a go. Beautifully executed, as always.
At last this one comes out!! My only problem with this game was that they didn't add any improvement from Xenoblade Chronicle's X gameplay like the overdrive or the secondary cool downs for arts or some cool side stories that the X did have even though its main story was far worse than this one's... but I mean... they add 80 side quests and there is a total of 480 xD For the rest of the game: Music, voice acting, main story, exploration, characters, etc... 10/10. Great video, I'll keep coming back for more as always n.n/
Welp you sold me. I had the original on Wii and loooved it, but never finished. Then I bought it on 3ds in hopes of finishing it that way and...nope lol So looks like I'm buying it a third time. But this time the quality of life improvements look soo awesome. And it looks gorgeous to boot. Also something you didn't mention that I absolutely loved in the first was that when you finish side quests you don't have to run back to that specific person and deliver the item or whatever it is. God that was an amazing feature. I never do side quests because of all the back and forth. Now I can't wait to do them with even more updates. As usual thanks for the great review Pelvic. This was a very well made review. The only thing I'd disagree with would be Future Connected. I thought it was nice having better closure on Melia's story, and it was nice to finally be able to explore the Bionis' Shoulder. And I was okay with there not being a grand villain since it would've been silly to have a tougher bad guy a few months after destroying the main game's villain. SPOILER WARNING Honestly, my favorite part of the review was the subtle hint at Alvis' connection to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 :-)
Wow this game looks SO amazing. Looks way better then it did and I played it using Dolphin upscaled to run @ 1080p 60 so it already looked great. Xenoblade really was a great game. Great review, glad I stumbled across your channel.
I played the original Xenoblade back in 2011 and loved it, as a matter of fact its was the last game which was a personal rating of 9/10 or above, since then no other rpg game has been a 9 out of 10 for me some were close but were in the 8/10 range, still waiting for an rpg game that will be 9 or more out of 10, they dont make em like they use to
There is a way for you to walk a bit faster equipping a certain gem (light feet) on your controlled character. Is not that much of a difference but it's something ;)
I in general hate level scaling but personally id keep it just for the boss fights. Its realy easy to get over leveled especially in more open world games. Althou if i was designing a RPG that has 100+ levels id make levels more about versatility than raw power. You would only realy notice major changes and damage and defense evry 10 levels. This is one aspect i like about western RPGs at lest some of them. In those games leveling means something because you rarely go over level 20.
While I love the sequel slightly more, Xenoblade 1 is an amazing game and the Definitive Edition just did everything so right. Honestly, the thing that makes it hardest for me to go back to the Wii version isn't the graphics, but the quest tracking system. That and the HUD really get the "Most Improved" award
Yeah the writing in future connected wasn’t as good as the main game, but if you’ve had experience with previous xenotitles it was such a massive revelation that it opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities for the series.
Bah. I knew I should’ve bought this when it was on sale. Oh well. I actually bought the Wii version when I picked up my Wii U, but I never ended up playing it. Now it’s gone :(.
Excellent review/analysis as usual, Lady P. This is a fun game...period. In fact the entire Xeno series is underrated. I haven’t played a Xeno game that has left me feeling underwhelmed.
I’m not so sure I agree with the “levels are important” statement because I breezed through most late game bosses as soon as I unlocked Monado Armor while being around 7 levels lower. Not to braaaag or anything. That aside, this was a good video.
im just now playing this and shes absolutely correct: you cant mount over anything but frustratingly theres a jump button? its like the worst platforming in a non-platforming game lol it is great fun though, gameplay and story-wise
I want to play this game but it seems so complicated and intimidating to me. So much to the whole stats and all. Does it all come naturally when you play? Im getting old 51 now. Miss the ps1 days. Hahahaa
It certainly came naturally to me - especially because this is my second playthrough. That said, when I first started even *I* was intimidated. . . It is a LONG game. A single person MMO if you will. I wouldn't recommend this if you're just getting back into JRPGs. But if you just take it slow, pace yourself I think you'll find this to be a thrilling adventure! It certainly is more complicated than good ole fashion turn base, but once you get into the swing of things you won't be able to put this game down! Also you're never too old to learn and play JRPGs! When I'm 51 you best believe I'm gonna still be gaming!
played it when I was 14 I think, had no prior knowledge to how it works, I didn't quite understand everything at the time to be able to make use of most characters. However, if you use, shulk, reyn, sharla or later in the game dunban, you can get through the game without even understanding it's systems that well, that's what I did at the time at least. Just need to stay within 3-5 levels of bosses and make sure you use agility gems. the other characters are better if you understand chain attacks, which I didn't at the time so I didn't use them

Back when it was released I had to choose between this and FFVII Remake and lets just say I made a mistake. I’m buying this today ^_^
to be fair the ff12 remake for switch was awsome. Had a 2 week business trip to canada kept me busy the whole time lol

Never been a huge RPG person, but I've always wanted to try Xenoblade Chronicles...

You answered a lot of my questions.
Only issue so far is the dialogue. But I’m playing it along side Trails in the Sky…so maybe not a fair comparison. Really enjoying it 30 hours in!
I don't think I'll ever get to properly play this game. But I think that if I was introduced to it by your review, I'd probably give it a go. Beautifully executed, as always.

My only problem with this game was that they didn't add any improvement from Xenoblade Chronicle's X gameplay like the overdrive or the secondary cool downs for arts or some cool side stories that the X did have even though its main story was far worse than this one's... but I mean... they add 80 side quests and there is a total of 480 xD
For the rest of the game: Music, voice acting, main story, exploration, characters, etc... 10/10.

Welp you sold me. I had the original on Wii and loooved it, but never finished. Then I bought it on 3ds in hopes of finishing it that way and...nope lol So looks like I'm buying it a third time. But this time the quality of life improvements look soo awesome. And it looks gorgeous to boot. Also something you didn't mention that I absolutely loved in the first was that when you finish side quests you don't have to run back to that specific person and deliver the item or whatever it is. God that was an amazing feature. I never do side quests because of all the back and forth. Now I can't wait to do them with even more updates. As usual thanks for the great review Pelvic. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is the only game that made me cry in the first few hours of the game.

This was a very well made review. The only thing I'd disagree with would be Future Connected. I thought it was nice having better closure on Melia's story, and it was nice to finally be able to explore the Bionis' Shoulder. And I was okay with there not being a grand villain since it would've been silly to have a tougher bad guy a few months after destroying the main game's villain.

Wow this game looks SO amazing. Looks way better then it did and I played it using Dolphin upscaled to run @ 1080p 60 so it already looked great. Xenoblade really was a great game. Great review, glad I stumbled across your channel.
I played the original Xenoblade back in 2011 and loved it, as a matter of fact its was the last game which was a personal rating of 9/10 or above, since then no other rpg game has been a 9 out of 10 for me some were close but were in the 8/10 range, still waiting for an rpg game that will be 9 or more out of 10, they dont make em like they use to
There is a way for you to walk a bit faster equipping a certain gem (light feet) on your controlled character. Is not that much of a difference but it's something ;)
I in general hate level scaling but personally id keep it just for the boss fights. Its realy easy to get over leveled especially in more open world games.
Althou if i was designing a RPG that has 100+ levels id make levels more about versatility than raw power. You would only realy notice major changes and damage and defense evry 10 levels.
This is one aspect i like about western RPGs at lest some of them. In those games leveling means something because you rarely go over level 20.
While I love the sequel slightly more, Xenoblade 1 is an amazing game and the Definitive Edition just did everything so right.
Honestly, the thing that makes it hardest for me to go back to the Wii version isn't the graphics, but the quest tracking system. That and the HUD really get the "Most Improved" award
Yeah the writing in future connected wasn’t as good as the main game, but if you’ve had experience with previous xenotitles it was such a massive revelation that it opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities for the series.

Bah. I knew I should’ve bought this when it was on sale. Oh well. I actually bought the Wii version when I picked up my Wii U, but I never ended up playing it. Now it’s gone :(.

Excellent review/analysis as usual, Lady P. This is a fun game...period. In fact the entire Xeno series is underrated. I haven’t played a Xeno game that has left me feeling underwhelmed.
I'm hoping the older games get ported to Switch. The Xenosaga trilogy in particular is tricky to acquire through official means...

I’m not so sure I agree with the “levels are important” statement because I breezed through most late game bosses as soon as I unlocked Monado Armor while being around 7 levels lower. Not to braaaag or anything. That aside, this was a good video.

im just now playing this and shes absolutely correct: you cant mount over anything but frustratingly theres a jump button? its like the worst platforming in a non-platforming game lol it is great fun though, gameplay and story-wise

It certainly came naturally to me - especially because this is my second playthrough. That said, when I first started even *I* was intimidated. . . It is a LONG game. A single person MMO if you will. I wouldn't recommend this if you're just getting back into JRPGs. But if you just take it slow, pace yourself I think you'll find this to be a thrilling adventure! It certainly is more complicated than good ole fashion turn base, but once you get into the swing of things you won't be able to put this game down!
Also you're never too old to learn and play JRPGs! When I'm 51 you best believe I'm gonna still be gaming!
played it when I was 14 I think, had no prior knowledge to how it works, I didn't quite understand everything at the time to be able to make use of most characters. However, if you use, shulk, reyn, sharla or later in the game dunban, you can get through the game without even understanding it's systems that well, that's what I did at the time at least. Just need to stay within 3-5 levels of bosses and make sure you use agility gems. the other characters are better if you understand chain attacks, which I didn't at the time so I didn't use them
