A song for waking up to go to the school with so much excitement was never so heavy and kawaii at the same time.

Seeing them out of costume during the making of Doki Doki Morning really brings home how young they were and how talented they must have been to carry it off and handle the attention/pressure.

The song was released in Japan as an independent DVD single on October 22, 2011, serving as the first single off the debut album Babymetal. The vocals were recorded in 2010 menaing Su (lead singer) was only 12 at the time and MOa and Yui were only 11

Not only is this an "older" video, it's BABYMETAL's FIRST music video, released on UA-cam on November 8, 2012 but it was actually recorded almost a year earlier (October 2011) when Su-metal was 13 years old, and both Yuimetal and Moametal were 11 years old.
So the saga begins!!!

Great reaction. 'Doki Doki Morning' was the very first song they recorded - that was late October 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa both 11. This official video was made on a shoestring budget nearly a year later.
Doki Doki represents the sound of a fast or excited heart beat. The song is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with her friends.
The contrast between the instrumentals and the very cute vocals (also very apt given the song's subject matter) is very deliberate.
The girls were very pleased with themselves for teaching the Babybones guys the choreo so they could dance along with them in the video.

"DDM" was their first song, first single, first music video, first everything. In terms of historical importance, this is the most important one.
Not sure if it was mentioned in the "documentary" video but you need extra context for this song: they originated within a larger j-pop idol group formed by girls between 10 and 15. And "DDM" is part of their very first album. So, the song had to be necessarily poppy but it's also crazy metal for that same context.

This song covers all of those traditional Heavy Metal themes, like waking up excited for a new day at school, and deciding on your lip gloss and cute hairstyle for the day. : )
It was this first video blowing up on social media that helped BABYMETAL start to go viral, especially outside of Japan.
At this point BABYMETAL were still a sub-unit of the school themed Idol group Sakura Gakuin.
Their club description was the "Heavy Music Club".
Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin staff.
Moa's shirt was borrowed from Yui, and Yui's from fellow Sakura Gakuin student Raura.
The girls taught the skeleton dudes the dance moves themselves. : )
Pretty much everything that followed was because this video unexpectedly blew up.
Moa has commented in interviews about how good Su is in imitating her younger voice when she sings this song now.
