How nice, this is where I live, the most beautiful village in the Netherlands 🇳🇱Volendam
2:40 It's not like somebody is seeing that from it's backjard, it realy IS somebodies backjard. It is a real village with real people living in those houses.
New York was once called New Amsterdam because it was settled by the Dutch people in 17th century.
And Harlem and Brooklin are named after the Dutch cities of Haarlem and Breukelen.
Oh and add to this, Wallstreet was Waalstraat. Street in Dutch is straat and Waal is a Dutch river and loads of Dutch streets are called that. Back then most people did not know how to write or read. To me that explains a lot of this. Those who could, wrote down what they thought they heard. So Waal became Wall, Haarlem became Harlem and Breukelen became Brooklin.
If you like biking, the Netherlands is definitely for you. We have amazing and safe biking infrastructure, not just in big cities but everywhere. Most shorter trips are made by bike. The channel Not Just Bikes as someone mentioned before is worth checking out.
