You are correct. We don't need to assume about what happened to him, since you see him very close to the Being in epilogue. He basically became a sleeper.
@@tacobanana_forever IMO he is the most tragic character in darkwood. He is a really good guy, trying to help people, and getting stuck in the woods, abandoned by military (he doesn't even know they tried to save him with helicopter). I wish we could save him, I really do.
Very well put, doesn't he also lose his wife and child? I vaguely remember something about them perishing in the helicopter crash, but i might be wrong on that
@@tacobanana_forever I'm not sure the daughter has died. To me it seems that the operation to retrieve him was set up, but failed due to helicopter crash. You find a photo of him there (2nd half of the torn photo) which could belong only to his wife. It's not logical to take a small baby with you on such a mission (wife aswell, but meh, when you are searching for your relative, you do all kind of stupid crap), so my guess is his daughter now misses both parents.
@@tacobanana_forever actually on the second thought, it could be not the saving mission, but the initial mission to get his family back home (when shit started to hit the fan). In case this is the thing, his daughter is surely dead. And I don't know what is worse.
Love your content, so happy that you dive into Darkwood lore! But there is more about the doctor! You can find him another time in secret location, when he gets totaly savage - and there is two more location with doctors lore - not gonna spoil if you prefer to learn yourself :)

@@tacobanana_forever Well, I will try my best to explain :D You can meet doctor one extra time if you take a rout when he ambushes you in a trainwreck - after that he can be found trough few places in swamp area and the last one is easy to miss - you need to have airtank to dive in some hole in the water (i think there was three crosses mark on a map - then he will be all sawage and all, no talking and if you get to clouse - he will atack you. If you choose to unalive him - you will find few missing pages from your diary. If you don't unalive him at any point you will find him sleeping among other sleepers next to the being in the true ending :) Also - in the swamp area (i think also tank is needed for this) you can find helicopter wreck with few bodies - one of them has other half of thorn photo of doctors family - this informs player that at some point his wife and daughter tried escape with military help but they crashed in the swamp - so basicaly they are not alive at the start of a game :( Tragic story. Hope this will help :) I am a little bit obsessed with this game, so I know a lot :D

That’s one of the great things about this game, there really is no hero’s or villains, it’s just the woods and the victims caught in its wake
Kinda makes me think one of the main themes of the game could be the indifference of nature

It has struck me that, as much as I love Darkwood, I've never actually finished it. I think I'll do that this weekend.
Have fun! Honestly, it's kinda short, i think my 2nd run was like maybe 5-6 hours. The ending is epic though
