Emersed Aquatic Plants - My Dedicated Tank!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- A while ago I started a tank devoted to growing emersed aquatic plants. Why? Well they grow faster above water and I don't have to battle algae. Thats a win-win. Want to see what 2 months of growth looks like? Check out this vid!

@Manuel Trey i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Manuel Trey It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!

@Kylen Kason no problem =)
Awesome video of the 2 month comparisons! That tank stand is awesome and I’m glad you’re back :)
Thank you Ryo :)
You got amazing growth! Love watching your videos you make them fun to watch. Congratulations on 20k, you’re almost there!
Thanks +lifewithpets , appreciate it!
Awesome results Taylor.
Could you explain more on your grow method like lighting requirements, how often you add water, fertilizer etc.
I was going to use dwarf chain sword for my classes fermentation project but I think that I will use Monte Carlo. That stuff really grew nicely!
Great to have you back,
Chris
Great job and congrats on pulling off the family members space heist. That's never an easy task. Multi talented.
Hah!
we all do it :-)
I have been looking for a shelf for my new tank and dont have any idea what is study enough. Thank you so much for this!
Just found this video and found it very helpful. Thank you
I'm glad it was helpful!
Excellent job
Thank you for showing the results. Really enjoyed the video.
I like your videos!I am learning about bettas!
Well done! Try using old fish tank water, they go bananas!
Seeing the success you had I think I might try that with some of my plants.
You should try adding some air stones or bubble wands to the water under the plants. It will add more humidity to the top of the tank and help circulate the nutrients in the water threw out all the plants
I had that planned but never did it! The cling-wrap kept all the humidity in and everything went well, so thats good. I am going to add a sponge filter now though and maybe a few guppies :)
Good to see you back. Nice plants.
Thank you
Very cool experiment!
Thank you!
So wonderful and glad you are feeling better! I think this was a great experiment and perhaps one I may try
It was fun and super easy!
Thanks, ill try
Great vid. I would say place the anubias under the pots in the water since that was a lot of light. This gives me some ideas.
That’s a good idea
Wow! That pinkish plant! And the smaller plants! I have never had the greatest luck with dwarf heirrgrass. But yours look great!
I love your videos and your clear voice Taylor! My friends love them too. Keep making them!
You're the best!
I may have to try this out. Been thinking about it for awhile now having plants on hand for new set ups
Its a great idea!
Very nice
Great vid! I have been wanting to do something like this for some time.
This is a great idea! I really enjoyed seeing the 2 month comparison!
Thank you!
Great video!! Thanks for sharing your experiment!! I have wondered about plant growth myself. Cool idea!!
Nice new light!! Congrats on all the subs - no surprise to me, your content is so great & your personality sparkles!! CHEERS!! =D
Oh gosh thank you @Amy marie :)
I need this shelf in my life. My 40 breeder doesn't have much in it cuz if the stand it is on. It would be perfect for my tanks. I could put one of my 30 gallon tanks under it.
It is an edsal shelf from home depot, and pretty inexpensive! I learned about it from Solid Gold and also Aquarium Co-op
Very cool. I do mine under 24 hour LED light. They grow twice as fast.
24 hr straight? They don't get all stunted that way?
Hi, you could look into making an aquaponics system. Since you are keeping fish as well it's a win win situation and your plants will grow faster. Learning lots from your channel , good luck thanks
Nice work, some species went fantastic!
Haha what a coincidence. I was just exploring your channel page wondering when you were going to upload a new video, when lo and behold, my prayers were answered LOL
I love that stand! It looks gorgeous. And the emerged grown plants are awesome, looks like it was a really fun project :D
Haha thank you +Turtle Girl :)
Omg I absolutely LOVE your videos! I would be lost without you and your amazing personality! Keep creating videos and always stay positive! I love you!
Oh gosh you're the sweetest
Omg I'm freaking out! I'm so happy you noticed and replied to my comment! I love you!
these videos are so likable!
You're sweet!
Wow Nice plants
I need to go back on growing emersed plants. It's super fun!!
Fun and easy!
The point of the egg crate is to get the plants nearer the light? Otherwise I don't see what it's for.
Yeah, I was keeping snails down below. No need though
You have such an adorable personality and deserve every single one of us subscribers! :)
Aw gosh!
What a great idea! Cryptocoryne Wendtii is one of my favourite plants. 😊
Mine too!
Great video! I'm jealous you have a log home, my wife and I have plans to build a log home in a few years.
Very cool setup!
Thanks! ^^
Multiple Tank Syndrome indeed. Awesome experiments.
I'd suggest upping humidity by spraying daily. Most those plants look neglected. Sorry for being brutally honest. Maybe some fertilizer or something. Definitely feel there should be more moisture on glass.
Awesome idea!!
cool work. can't wait to be your first customer beating down the doors for that fancy en'joy pothos!!!!!!!
Love your plants 🌱 they look good 😊
Thank you!
You may want to cross brace it if you ever fill it all the way
Man, the Monte Carlo filled in well!
Sure did! Can’t wait to use some of it in some tanks
Good to see more emersed plant content. I wish I had the space for more than just my Cryptocoryne collection. Ludwigia "White" is the only stem species I really have space for. They really do get out of control when emersed 😂
@zz3OPEN sorry for the late reply - thanks! Emersed is pretty dang fun and I think it looks really pretty. This tank rapidly ran out of space with all that AR mini and ludwigia!
The MTS struggle is real and affects many families and lives. Thoughts and prayers lmao
Lol!!
Hi .. nice to see this creative idea.. and what’s the substrate please
A crative idea !
Thanks! It worked pretty well :)
Hey Simply Betta I was wondering if you had any breeding tips for beginners
Looking good
What the heck why can't I get awesome shelves like that here in Australia?? Great plants btw! (:
Hehe thank you
Bunnings New Zealand have them if you are meaning the tank rack. Aus has bunnings right? Pretty sure it's an Aus chain store to begin with?
Worth the wait!
Love your videos . Keep up the great work. X
This is a great video, I enjoyed watching this.
I too am setting up an aquarium to use for the same reason. :)
Thank you for sharing. :)
I gave the video a like.
Congratulations on coming up to 20, 000 Subscribers. That is good going.
Sorry you were not well, but I am glad you are feeling better now.
Thank you +ultimate Fishkeeping Show :)
I have to admit I was wondering what was up. I hope you continue to get better.
Love your work, keep it up.
Hey Taylor, welcome back. Good to see you uploading again! waiting on a response regarding the blue/white Koi and I hope you will update your website soon!
Hey Shawn, sorry I’m such a loser at the moment!
OMG come on don't be hard on your self, you have been sick!!!!! hope you recover 100% and keep me posted. I am in no rush so take your time!!
MONTE CARLO RULES!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING

Thank you!
I did my microform culture with rice dough but I ended up with getting large white worm what should I do to feed my Betta fry shall I feed them egg yolk or frozen food please reply at the earliest
Hey congrats, your channel is currently in the top 50 of all aquarium UA-cam channels (by sub count)!
@aquariumkids Wat? Really? How do you know?
Hmmm
Onething my first betta breed successfully completed
But I didn't have staterculture of vinegar eel what can I do?
Pls reply quick !!!!
you have an additional subscriber...and made me laugh too
First time seeing you, this video is very helpful!
Thank you
Nice plants JW can those plants be submerged in water like water plants thank
Thank you, yes I can submerge them now and they'll adapt to underwater growth
Taylor I have four bettas at home.one of my bettas has been behaving very weirdly lately.it doesn't eat well keeps coming to the top and remains motionless.but when I go and tap on the tank I see it moving .it is the oldest of all my four bettas and I'm starting to feel there's something wrong.please help:(
Ludwigia Monster!
what is the EASIEST or as a list (in order) what are the easiest plants to grow in a tank with fish?
Hmm, anubias, crypts, java ferns I think
Taylor...I have missed you!!! So good to see you again!!! BTW...I'm really on the hunt for a yellow koi like the one Shelia just got. Any suggestions? I do hope you sell some of your plants; they are beautiful!!
Hello! I know sheila will be breeding that female, and I might have a small spawn growing of yellow marble or koi right now ;)
Oh that sounds great!! I have 2 fish from Shelia. They are soooo cute! If I can get a yellow one betta, my list will be finished for the bettas I want :)
Really really like the before and after two months of growth comparison. Do you add CO2 to these emersed grow tanks?
I didn't add any co2 :)
There's no point in adding CO2, since there's loads of CO2 in the air...
The whole point of adding CO2 to an aquarium is because the only CO2 in the water is the one being produced by the fish.
luv all of your vids
there is nothing that i did not catch with sharing plants wither other aquascaping dudes, cladophora, u.gibba, and so on.....first chaning them to emers is a long but helpful step....
Have you tried adding CO2? I use a simple soda bottle, sugar and yeast contraption in mine.
I do that for some tanks of mine but not this once since it is not submerged :)
Simply Betta mine is outside getting a fair amount of sun with sealed top so I thought I'd dose it. I'm pretty sure some plant nurseries do with terrestrials in greenhouses to make sure that photosynthesis continues for longer.
this is a great idea for my paludarium, just grow them out of the water, into the water....
Hello there. I do enjoy ur video's. What ever happend to the Giant fry? Did u get any out of All those eeg's the red was babysitting?
Hello! The spawn turned out very well and many hatched, though I didn't get any true giants from the batch. Thats a shame!
🤔 wondering how u didnt get any Giants If the eeg's turned out well. I Guess the giants r from a normal sized betta and they may be the abnormal 🤔 i'll ask Google 😂👍
Finally I miss daily vlogs
Should I be spraying the leaves of my plants regularly ?
Happy to hear your on the mend. Now will those plants melt cause of being grown out of water?
If they go back into a submerged environment the plants will transition to sumberged growth. Some leaves may melt away but not for long
Thank heaven you filled in that empty space. We were getting concerned. 😂 BTW, did that rack come with rubber shoes for the stand? I'd be concerned about the metal gouging the floor.
Yes it did come with some rubber bits! ^^
you gave me an idea :). thank you....by the way what soil did you used and do you need to spray those plants every now and then? again thanks :)
I used regular organic potting soil, and it was so humid in there I never needed to spray :) Just be careful not to have SO much humidity that it gets moldy
@@SimplyBetta how to i make sure that it’s not too much humidity
Hello! Thank you for Your Video , i have a question , What Kind of light you use for your plant;
I love the floor:)
Welcome back Taylor :)
I need to try this! Did you add any aquatic plant fertilizers to the water?
nope!
Hi Simply Betta. How do you maintain high humidity in your tank?
plastic wrap taped over the top :)
Do you use fertilizers in the water? or just trust the soil is enough? either way this looks like a really fun project and a fun tank to have around and track
No ferts, just organic potting soil :)
Amazing 😍
I'll speak for my fellow subscribers and say that we're glad you're feeling better. Hard to not be sick with little ones and difficult to be sick with little ones to take care of.
I'm curious about this under-utilized space that you found to store a tank. You were very coy about how the space was used previously. What type of rules have you agreed to for where tanks can and cannot be?
For the plant growth, you grew outside the water because the plants grow faster. Except it seemed the slow growing plants. Did you use any fertilizers in the water or the soil? Don't big companies like Tropica or ADA use fertilizers to speed growth?
Hello! No rules, I just asked it I could move a table that hadn't been used in years so I could put a tank there - hah! I didn't use any ferts in the water because I used potting soil, I figured thats where the plants will be getting their nutrients. If I had used an inert substrate like some people do, like gravel or hydroton, I would have had to fertilize
I'm soooo gonna steal your idea 😏
Why don't you have any knew betta on your shop?
Because I was sick and lazy and photographing fish is harrrd
is there any water flow in your dedicated tank? I can't tell from what I'm watching.
i don't think so mate
Do you need to spray them with water at all? Or have a heater in the water below?
What was the name of your shelving unit?
This is not about plants but, what temperature do you keep youer micro worm cultures at? I am going to start micro worm culture(s) for the first time. (Just ordered them!)
nice
Nice setup how many gallons
It's a 40g breeder
Update video plz
