    I rescued a spider plant, too...she was in terrible shape! I repotted her in an aroid mix and I water her with only distilled water. She is shining now ❤

    What if the pot is deeper? Should I put something on the bottom to keep the soil from staying wet? I use a terra cotta pot and I know those tend to be deeper.

    Just Purchased a spider plant on sale from big box store; it has brown spots on the "leaves". is there anything I can do to get rid of brown spots?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  2 роки тому

      Arlene Wiggins, Congrats on your new spider plant friend! Unfortunately, you can't get rid of brown spots that are already there, but you can help prevent new ones from coming on. Once newer foliage grows in, you can cut out the leaves with the brown spots. Brown spots can come from improper watering. They may have been over or underwatering the plant in the big box store--that is very common. You'll want to make sure to water the plant correctly. Additionally, it's a good idea to get the plant out of the soil it's in and into fresh soil. I have a video on why it's a good idea to repot new plants. Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/xLOLC6-P3-Q/v-deo.html

    My spider plant is just dull i tried everything. I dont know how to keep it going. It has new growth but that's dull too.

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  2 роки тому

      Nidhi Kothari, is the plant in the correct size pot? Additionally, is it in the correct lighting? Does the new growth look healthy otherwise, besides being dull?

    • @nidhikothari6374
      @nidhikothari6374 2 роки тому

      @@HealthyHouseplants yes the plant is in correct size pot. Even the light is proper. The new growth looks healthy at start then after few days it starts getting dull and pale

      @@nidhikothari6374 Two other possibilities. Water quality. What type of water are you using? From the tap? High amounts of fluoride and chlorine can also cause leaf issues. Additionally, spider mites will cause dulling and paling of the leaves.

    what potting soil do you use

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  Рік тому

      Jason Samuels, I use PromixBX: amzn.to/3iVIrjE (It's one of the two soils listed in the description.)

      @@HealthyHouseplants i wasnt sure if you use pro mix or fox farm potting soil

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  Рік тому

      @@jasonsamuels7436 Gotcha! Thanks for asking. Promix is by far the best soil for houseplants that I've found. It's more expensive than some other brands--although the bags are generally big and full, and it's definitely worth the investment.
