The final scene, with your mum, "then pawn takes c7" and the way you look at her... this video is pure gold, and the ending is a gem.
Amen, my jaw dropped at that last precious scene. They are truly amazing and have completely won my heart. 🥹
Very nice bit of editing there with the shaky doc feel on Pia and then settling on the 2-shot (which I assume you did in post, or is it actually the camera prior to locking off??) and the little crash zoom on the moment of truth, then the freeze.... and the well-designed titles, and the tinkly "just another day" music. Nice job editor! And if there was input from Anna, too, then you're getting really good at this A+. Sorry about the outcome, but great video.
Watching the two of them is 🧑🍳
A "mouse-pad" moment(or some such monumental capture).
"But he takes my rook! ... Oh, wait ..."
I love Pia's support at the end, reassuring Anna that it was a good game with 95% accuracy and then explaining the correct moves to hopefully learn for future games.
Yes she is very supportive and caring but I also like how Pia never sugarcoats anything and tells it like it is. She's got like the perfect coaching style as she can be brutally honest without being rude. I don't think Anna could have hoped for a better coach than her own mom.
i hope Anna will do more tournaments its great to learn from her experiences
Higher than Magnus's accuracy in many games
Where can I find the video ?
This just says how irrelevant accuracy is
Seeing Anna teary eyed is like seeing my favourite team losing.🙁
I felt the same way, it was hard to watch
She's my favorite chess team 😊
Yep I'm an Everton fan and I see that teary eyedness a lot (google it if your not a football fan)
Endgames dont mind about feelings.
She is our favorite team😊
I really hope Anna continues playing these tournaments. She's going to have a great result this time, and other creators aren't really giving us this kind of content. Maybe winning a few smaller tournaments will give her the boost she needs, because a lot of us know she can do it and are rooting for her.
Also, Pia is amazing! It's ridiculous how quickly she sees everything on the board. Can I see all that half as fast, please? That would be awesome.
best Chess content on YT.
It always feels bad to lose, but it's very brave to do it publicly. You should feel good about growth in chess and the hard work you put in. I'm a huge fan!
You learn more from your loses then your wins. Succes never comes in a straight line.
stop spoiling
@@baka-oni8358 That's on you for reading the comments before watching the video.
People are allowed to talk about the game... thats what the comments are here for. They don't show up for you, until you scroll down to see them, or click on "comments" if you're using the app.
Take some responsibility for yourself. It's not other peoples job to look out for you.
@@pkz420 its literally the top comment. But fair enough in any other cases
Thanks for the spoiler
The results is just a detail. The moments I spent watching you and your mom rooting and commenting was amazing. You improved so much and I'm so happy for you! Just keep being like that and the world will be yours.
Agreed
Honestly there are people out there who you wouldnt even know near you who need positive encouragement and dont get any from anyone, not a big youtuber female who gets nothing but positive renforcement from hundred thousand people...
Yep we'll always be able to watch this tournament, which is gold!! And you keep getting better and better, and playing otb (which is something you wanted to do anyway) gives you more views!! So I see this as a win!! Felicidades y palante!! 😊
@@Bakarost you have a point. therefore we should always be kind to the people around us, neighbours, strangers, acquaintances, bc we don't know who might need it the most that day
Nope
I learned how to draw a rook/pawn vs pawn from Pia in the full video, and it might be a decent idea for Anna to make videos of end games that she's learning. It could be both educational and fun, especially if she does it with her mom.
We're all so proud of you Anna. Honestly it's so inspiring to see someone so open about how things went, it must be such a mix of difficult feelings but you handled yourself with grace and maturity.
You’re always capable of finishing off The Impossible. We wish you the best of luck.
Haven't often been disappointed to see a fellow Dutch player win, but here we are
same here!
Everyone likes the Dutch. I was even rooting for your farmers.
@@steelmongoose4956 rooting for dutch farmers doesnt necessarily mean rooting for the Dutch. I am Dutch and I definitely was not rooting for them.
It’s so weird seeing Anna someone who is so usually so positive being really sad while still seeing somewhat positive it makes me want to get her a hug
He beat you largely psychologically because he did unorthodox moves to force you to waste your time early so that during the end you wouldn't have time to think things through.
You hate endgames because You always reach them with 1m left and with the opponent having half an hour.
Me encanta tu canal Anna, saludos desde Uruguay!
You think she could have played the rest of the game faster but not worse, which is extremely unreasonable.
@@xmathmanx it's just a joke man. She jokes with that too. I don't care, i'm 900 ELO, i don't know shit
It’s not a joke. She hates endgames because she has no time left. She is probably in denial of her biggest problem with chess. Taking too much time for basically easy decisions. That is the only thing she needs to work on and start taking seriously. For the rest she is already there proving her talent for these 90min games.
i am el0 1350 and dont know shit too, but i share your opinion about time-factor. anyway, i wish her good luck and she would have so much deserved the tournament win. like her oponent too..
Why would it be unreasonable? Her opponent had loads more time left. She just tends to overcalculate a bit too much@@xmathmanx
It's amazing what you're doing, playing a tournament and making videos simultaneously is always hard, even levy struggled with it a lot. Keep doing the amazing work, we'll always be here for you regardless of your game results
Anna, you did so well and came so close -- it has been so much fun to watch you play and improve. I hope you keep up the tournament play. We're all behind you!
Has estado muy cerca, Anna. Habrá muchos otros torneos más. Debes estar muy orgullosa.
You are literally my all time favourite chess player
Anna, come to play to Mexico :)
Mikhail Nekhemovic Tal , look at his games
@tomfinney3416 You can like a player based only on their chess, or you can like a player as a person. Anna is likeable, charming, generous, very sweet and pretty to boot. And her chess is improving.
I said it according to her personality
@@ekagraagarwal its cool tal was famed for his personality too , but his chess ,,,,,the game went to a new level with him
Hard luck Anna. You did an Awesome job !! You were so focused even with so much less time and was able to get to time control extra moves.
Peak viewership as well and #2 content creator of the year 😊❤️
Ps: was happy got to watch you live and your Mom's commentary is amazing 😊
Well, thanks for making all the rest of us feel better about all the won games we have lost. Your videos are fun to watch! I really love your mom's comments!
Love the video. Your remarks at 18:32 regarding Twitch viewership piquing coinciding with a shouldn't have happened loss; I definitely feel you on that. 'Reminds me of an incident that happened to me (not chess) & so if it blesses you at all to hear it, I thought I'd share it. All of my time running well in Track and Cross Country from 7th to 12th grade was not seen by my dad until the very last run at state in my senior year - and wouldn't you know it: I made a miscalculation hearing my coach say I had quarter mile left when I had half. I moved from 7th to 4th, but then & the last real quarter having emptied my tank,I got passed so much place in that actual last quarter that I ended up in 19th . My dad only saw that specific part of the race, and only this in all my running history ever (still today). So it will be forever remembered by me too, but It happens. I like your perspective to use it as a motivation to study end games, and I know you'll be better for it. Keep up the great vids! You're #1 in our eyes.
Anna trying to pronounce her opponent is always hilarious .
She's not very good with languages. I think she has managed to get everyone of her opponent's names wrong in this tournament.
@@comjagmaybe if mfs didn't have viking names
@@comjag English is her third language and she barely has an accent. Can you match that? That said, she does butcher names, because she doesn't know how they are pronounced.
@@comjag She speaks Swedish, Spanish and English very well. And in the case of this opponent, she almost pronounced his name right. And yes, I'm Dutch.
@@Prometheus4096 So true!
I followed you through this tournament Anna. Really looking forward to each match. Don't be too upset - you have inspired so many with your positive and upbeat manner.❤
I wanted to say it was thrilling to see you play the whole tournament, and each game explained. I hope you continue to play in the tournaments.
It's a lot of fun to follow your tournaments. You play so well and share so much of yourself. GO ANNA
That moment of realisation at the end 😂😂
Every game is the most important game when you keep winning!!!! You did amazingly well Anna, get some sleep and put it behind you.
This was crushing to watch live, not gonna lie. I wonder how you must have felt. To be honest, your opponent seemed to be getting every chance he had to drain your clock, which is part of the game of course, but it still felt a bit weird to see. That aside, however, it's incredible to witness how much you're improving at the game, finding these brilliant moves and squeezing the most out of some really hard positions to play. Your content was really important to me this past year, and I actually improved 300 points of rating by watching your games and learning from you and Pia! Thank you so much for the hours of work you and your team put in to bring this content to us. I'll still be there rooting for your best performance possible in the tournament! Here's to a new year in which we can all continue to improve together!
You've really hit a stride during the year with chess content, for me you got to chess channel of the year already.
You did a ton of experimentation, I can't say I liked everything you tried, but for me three things you started doing have gotten me totally hooked on your channel and not wanting to miss a video:
#1 getting Pia more involved more on the channel
#2 the tournament videos and the fact you still play tournaments is hugely important to me (and that your mom still competes too is very inspiring to me)
#3 really well produced and dramatic commentary videos that go a step above the usual sit-in-front-of-computer-monitor-and-talk chess channels
Great job, this is definitely a golden era and can't wait for what you do in 2024.
It has been so lovely to watch you play Anna and to see you improve! I hope you keep playing tournaments its so much fun to watch especially with gm Pia commentating! We're proud of you! 😊
Haha, the ending is brilliant: the silence of the realisation when your mother says 'Then pawn takes C7'. The beauty and the terror of chess, together in two seconds; makes me laugh and cry at the same time.
Anna, I'm totally inspired and completely blown away by how you approached this tournament and I'm even more impressed by how you handled the lose ... That was classy - I shed a tear listening. The way you told the story had me on the edge of my seat!! ... What you made clear on this journey is loosing sometimes can be our best teacher. I believe this defeat will bring you far more joy in the future - you have the receipts!!! AND ... may I say without being preachy ... At a certain point you will embrace end-games. I know this is true because you seem to love playing chess - at least it appears that way on your channel. What I see is very genuine and that's why your channel continues to grow. I'm inspired to get better by how you present the game. If your channel inspires others like me to play and study all facets of the game don't you think it could be a little counter productive to say you hate end-games!??? It might be true, but it may also steer opponents to target you stylistically by driving opening play directly to the DREADED end-game phase you "hate so much". ................... So ... No more of that. 😇
As a fan of the channel, and someone who is inspired, I'm asking you to consider changing that part of your thinking and turn it into something positive. ...... Saying you hate end-games could (possibly) influence viewers to also hate end-games. Chess has taught me that It is better to walk towards a problem than to run from it. You will tire, your problem won't.
Let's ALL get Better at end-games!! Anna, you have no excuse not to get better at end-games, because you're already playing the game!! 😊Take advantage of what you already doing.
Looking forward to the next video
All the best Anna!
ACM
Well you certainly outplayed me. I started watching 3 rounds ago when “my fastest tournament game” popped up on my feed. Couldn’t wait for the next round so I went to your channel and saw the remaining titles: “perfect game!”, “I did the impossible!”, “I won!!” I was a bit annoyed that you spoiled the ending, but decided to keep watching anyway… you’re an amazing player.
Was really cool to see you and your mom analyze after the game on stream!
Lost in chess, won in sympathy. We all of 738 thousands love you!
This tournament series is such a wholesome content to follow, good luck on the next match. Also cannot wait to watch you participate and live streaming on other tournaments
For me, your most valuable talent is the way in which you find humour in situations, followed by the amazing laugh that always has me laughing along with you. Yes, your chess is quite good, too, (alright it is very good,) but it pales when compared to a laughter that is worthy of being bottled and sold as a tonic.
You get better every time, and the experience will serve you well. You are very inspiring.
This reminds me of a quote- In a battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves losing but he who continues the attack, wins !
btw It sucks to loose in the end but it's all important to develop the ability of handling failures
🤞
Failure is the mother of success. The fact that this loss motivates you into studying more endgame theories proves you will become a better player. Good job young lady.
You have been absolutely incredible, and it looks like you’ll be winning today! Should be super proud of yourself and you’ve inspired so many people!
Hello Anna. Just to say that i admire the way you describe your emotional responses to difficult situations. Bad luck for this game, but i'm sure you will bounce back. Take care and don't beat yourself up!
You’re playing this tournament beautifully, Anna! Don’t let this game discourage you.
Congrats on your Twitch milestone! Your channel is way better than Levy’s!
The games happen a little too late in the evening for me, but I've been home with a covid-19 infection this week, so every morning, I've watched the recording of the live game coverage. It's made my really sucky week a lot better! :)
You played so well, for most of the game, and you've identified why you lost, analyzed the game, so you should take it as a valuable learning experience. I wish you good luck for the last game, I'm so hoping you'll win!
You did the impossible twice: losing that game and make me want to play chess again after decades (I’m 59) 😅👍🏼
it's amazing how good you can play given enough time, you only have to learn to be faster to crush tournaments
You are so much more wholesome than the rest of the chess content creators. There's only really Anna and Eric Rosen that I have absolutely zero fear will ever do anything worthy of being cancelled. So, for the people who've found you, you're the safe place we can watch chess from, safe from all the chaos of everyone else.
Chess will never be "a safe space" since you want to win the game - and if you manage to crush your opponent, so much the better.
Why are you vaguely presupposing that other chess content creators possess character traits that will get them "cancelled"?? Why perceive behavior through this artificial moral system and make predictions of retribution when they haven't done anything 'wrong' (according to your own fabricated code) yet? It's not only strange, it's a form of discipline and is harmful. Maybe try and think with some individuality and stop thinking through meme terms like 'cancelled' which make you a glorified automaton.
Well played, congrats on everything, only a matter of time before you do win a tournament. Happy New Year!
The good thing with having a weakness is that if you can eliminate that weakness you will become stronger. It can also be easier to improve a weakness than improve something you're already good at, since there is more to improve.
Good luck for the last round Anna!!! Extremely proud of you and thanks for taking the time to give out content during your tournament. PS. I'm pretty sure I would have hung a rook somewhere so I wouldn't say it's impossible to lose XD
New youtube sub here. Your live tournaments and daily youtube reports combined with your mom commentating during the live stream is such a winning formula, keep it up!
I've watched all these videos and it funny how Anna always walks in while her opponent is waiting. Dramatic. Mind games. I'm going to start using this for my work meetings. Wait for everyone else to be there, then walk in but in what appears to be slow motion. haha
Thank you for analysing the tournament games. I am currently trying to improve my chess rating and these videos really help with understanding how pro chess players think.
Good luck for the last round.
I get so much positive vibes watching ur videos!!
You are incredible Anna...I love the extra commentary from your mother.
I was one of the 20,000 viewers on twitch. Don't be sad, you're a great chess player, it was just a bad day
Be proud! Your tournament was really impressive and you should keep your head very high! You keep improving and your content is my favourite chess channel 👌 Thank you for what you do, keep up the hard work!
The force is strong in you. Believe in it and yourself 💯
i love her... i hope she always wins everything at chess
I am so sorry for you. Endgames are really hard as you said. I admire you for showing your pain. Good luck next time!
Seeing you so sad after the game was hard but glad to see how quickly your smile came back with the support of your family at the end of the video. Unbelievably tense game and can understand why it would be such a hard loss to take though. I'm sure this will only make you stronger 💪
Great content. I'm improving my chess matches watching these videos! Thanks
Right! I love it.
Oh Anna, you had a wonderful tournament. Heads up, keep smiling and looking forward to see your progress in 2024
Congratulations! I hope you win the tournament. It would be an incredible accomplishment. Also, thank you for being a legit chess-tuber instead of an entertainer with chess a medium. Love the analysis, especially from your parents! 💓💓💓
You did remarkably well, Anna. It’s been such a joy watching you play and you’ve been really improving so much. We know this isn’t what you hoped for, but you should be really proud of your performance. I hope you keep playing tournaments like this, as I have no doubt the only way is up, and it’s awesome to see! 👏🏾
He was a strong, experienced player, more than twice your age. Much stronger than his rating. Learn and improve end game (and openings). And manage your time!!!!!!!!
Onwards and upwards! Best of luck today. Stay positive 😊
I feel for you Anna and I so wanted you to win the tournament. I 've lost competitions in my field and it just hurts. We all have those small lapses of concentration, yet sometimes the consequences feel bigger than others. Keep up the great content and good luck for your next game.
Mucho ánimo Anna, el torneo aún no ha acabado!
En España estamos contigo, te queremos!!
Well done, there’s so much more to winning than just being good at the sport.
Some sports psychology will help you remove the ghosts.
Got me in the first half no gonna lie. Anna's opponent obviously has tremendous wisdom and that helped a lot
You've done really well this tournament. Congratulations! There will still be many more tournaments for you to win in the future. Congrats on the success of your UA-cam channel too!
Thumbnails for every video of this tournament have been on point! 💯
Here’s hoping for a strong finish for Anna as the tournament wraps.
Thank you for the great content! 🍓
Thoroughly enjoying the series - setbacks always teach us more than successes and you’re analysis of this will make you stronger
Good luck anna ! Your content you post always make me smile ! Head up high home girl !
“For some reason” translates as timemanagement Anna :)
For the rest you are already there. Grats on the 20k stream and 2nd place nomination. Incredible!
What a fantastic mother you have, Anna. ❣ She's not just highly competent but also has the important skill of dealing with losses in a proper and constructive way. I really admire her.
We get over the big jumps only to be tripped by the little obstacles!
The Batgirl of Gotham will rise!
Was so sad for you Anna! You have done amazing in the tournament and will keep lesrning and growing.
What a great tournament Anna! Congrats!
Awesome Anna! Good luck next round
Aw I'm so sorry you lost, but you have such a great mindset. It has been so great to watch you play in this tournament with these recap videos and the livestreams. You bring chess to life in a way that no one else can do, and that is a win in itself. You are amazing, and I am rooting for you, no matter win or lose. A loss is always just a chance to learn
I love this tournament series!
Great content as always. Shame about the loss but you'll be back for sure. Good luck for tomorrow!
20:02 the editing choice here to end on Anna’s stunned silence as she processes her moms input was perfect. Well done.
loved the walking through with all the side because and why :) thanks for the vid
You, family, Gotham Chess, Botez sisters. You all are a gem. Made 2023 enjoyable. I had lots of fun watching the games and learning. You people are good souls here. Happy New Year. Love from 🇧🇩
Gefeliciteerd Jeroen!! knap gedaan #1 and also Anna, thanks for the recap and the video.
In the original ECW, when a wrestler made a mistake the crowd would chant "you F'd up", but with the whole word. Just be grateful chess isn't like that. And have more confidence. You're actually pretty good, and you got me playing and studying chess!
The learning experience is worth more than the tournament win.
Brave and insightful recap of a game that only in the very end got lost, Anna. Given the high pressure related to a big chance of winning the tournament, you played well against a strong opponent. So on balance I think it confirms that you are well on track. Best wishes for the final round!
With a win today against Kristine Quek, this was an exceptional tournament performance 👏👏
Good luck in the final round! As well as you're coping already with this loss, you'll definitely be able to shake this off and move forward with your head up. Congrats, Chess Content Creator, and looking forward to the continuing saga. Thanks for sharing.
Don’t be too hard on yourself Anna. As long as you’re learning something, either about chess or yourself, you’re good.
Black’s extra pawn in the endgame wins in many different ways and makes defence very hard! Impossible not to lose such a position!
Amazing Tournament!! Congrats for your efforts! ❤❤
Va synd.
Bättre lycka nästa gång Anna.
Grattis till att du hade så många tittare på kanalen.
Lycka till i nästa match.
I recently found you and I love your honesty and insight.
I used to compete 55 years ago and you have started me playing again ...thanks to you.
This was so exciting watching your games the past few days! It's OK, you will get em next, Anna! I know you will break thru -- you have a habit of second-guessing yourself, and I can relate to that as well. But it will just give you more confidence for your next tournament.
As Bruce Lee once said. "Don't consontrate on the little finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory" Also " Be Water my friend" I am comparing you to great Bruce Lee as you talk about you game. You are very wise Anna Cramling.
Good luck for your next and last game of this tournament. And remember to enjoy it. It's been a good tournament, and we've definitely enjoyed following your progress.
