    Two songs that probably should have been on the list are (a) "I Still Call Australia Home" by Peter Allen; and (b) "We are Australian" by the Seekers.
    To be fair though, there's a lot that could be used. Most of them are old songs though, because they don't tend to make songs like that anymore.

    The Easy Beats were not the first Australian rock stars as we had quite a few from the 1950's including Johnny O'Keefe who was as big in the late 1950's to the mid 1960's as Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham and Michael Hutchence at their peak.
    While many of JO'Ks ( Johnny O'Keefe ) hits were covers of American rock songs, like Shout, the first hit JO'K wrote himself was The Wild One.......covered by many American and European bands in the 1960's and 1970's including Iggy Pop ( Real Wild Child ).
    Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs were bigger than The Easy Beats in the 1960's , but were only a pop band back then......then Billy discovered the Blues and Blues Rock and was even bigger than JO'K .
    Billy Thorpe wrote at least 2 songs that must make Australia's top 30 ......" Most People I Know ( think im crazy ) " is blues rock as good a song as any from Australia .
    Also " Mama " and a few more .
    Most of these songs have been chosen from the play list of a nerdy current radio station by someone who only listens to radio crap.

      Yeah - but, JOK (while brilliant ), wasn't really well known outside of Australia - even though Suzi Quatro, & Iggy Pop did pick up on his version of "The Wild One".

    • @Rassskle
      @Rassskle 19 днів тому +1

      @@MrCharliemcgoo
      Wasn't his version of Wild One, he wrote it, and it was covered by many US, English &European singers / bands back in the early 1960's.
      As for not being well known overseas, the English thought we still walked everywhere and lived in leanto's, the Yanks thought we were part of Germany and the Europeans thought we were Americans. lol

    Crowded House is a NZ band Formed by Neil Finn and then joined by his brother Tim and his two sons Liam and Elroy. The band was formed during the Split End farewell tour (Neil & Tim and Paul Hester were all members of Split End and the debut album featured tracks produced by another Enz memberEddie Rayner who then joined the band). And later on were joined by yet another Kiwi Don McGlashan

      Hey everyone, Liam from solitude, person who made the video here. If I made the video with studio recordings UA-cam copyright strikes it. I then risk getting a strike and cannot monetise the video. That is why I had to use live versions.
      There are ways around that but it often takes trial and error while uploading and you don't know what songs will have more strict copyright rules. I only have a small channel and make all my videos alone in my own time. So I don't have the means and time to use trial and error like a bigger countdown channel, such as WatchMojo.
      There is a link to a spotify list with top 30 and honourable mentions in my video description if you want to hear the studio recordings.

    Yes, Number 10. the Easybeats were big in the UK in the 60s as well. AC/DC used to come home at Christmas to record and be home. Angus still lives in Sydney. The 2 guitarist from the Easybeats Harry Vanders and George Young were AC/DC recorded producers for their first 5 Albums,. George Young was Malcolm and Angus big brother. Vanders and Young became Australia's biggest producers and songwriters. Number 1 was Cold Chisle huge band in Australia. They tried to get in the American scene, but their marketing and promotion in America was band, and their time in America just gave us a good song (you got nothing I want).

  • @continental_drift
    @continental_drift 8 місяців тому +6

    You can hear the dormant rhythms of AC/DC with this track because of the hard driving rhythm the lead guitar.
    I asked ChatGPT for the connection between the Easy Beats and AC/DC.
    AC/DC has a significant connection to The Easybeats through the brothers George Young and Malcolm Young. George Young was a member of The Easybeats, contributing as a guitarist and songwriter. After The Easybeats disbanded, George became a highly influential record producer.
    Meanwhile, George's younger brother, Malcolm Young, was inspired by his brother's musical career. Malcolm co-founded AC/DC along with his brother Angus Young. Malcolm and Angus formed the core of AC/DC and were pivotal in its success as a legendary rock band. The influence and guidance of George Young, who had a successful career in music production, played a crucial role in shaping AC/DC's early years and their sound. The Young brothers' musical legacy is deeply tied to both The Easybeats and AC/DC.

    Using the Triple J's top Aussie songs list is useless. Triple J is not a mainstream radio channel and it prides itself on being niche indie. In fact a lot of Aussie actually HATE Triple J since they play weird non commercial junk. This is why there's A LOT of bands and songs that should have been included but wasn't like Tina Arena and Savage Garden who sold way more albums and singles then most of the songs on the Triple J lists. You need to be looking at the ARIA charts if you want to see the true Aussie top 100 songs, not a list from a gov funded community radio station full of niche indie useless junk.

    Thee Australian Punk Rock anthem of the 90's ....WoW big call. Here's me thinking anything by X, Mark of Cain
    even Garry Davids 'Peanut Butter and Vegemite. But Music, what can ya say.
    Cosmic Psycho's anybody ?
