The original Pluto's lower half is the same lower half as like 90% of the robot masters but that's a very comforting thing for me. I grew up with megaman games and seeing where all the inspiration came from when consuming astro boy was a real treat
That's because the creator, Tezuka, is the man that created anime and manga as we know it. He was inspired by Disney Studios use of large eyes to express emotion. It can't be understated how important Tezuka is to Japan when it cones to media. The man was a creative genius.
So much style in this AMV. I could replay it over and over again and not feel bored. The scenes match up with the song really well, the edits fit the music and you can tell the person who made this spent a lot of time on it. My favourite part is the sequence with the characters lip syncing during the chorus, like the one at 1:17.
Can you imagine this anime is already 20 years old and it still looks new on top of the animation still beating a lot of stuff that has been airing even now in 2023. It helps that they really put such big care for this series and they went with the 16:9 aspect ratio which was not mainstream at the time.
It was one of the last anime to be fully cel animated commission that way intentionally, also the first Astro boy product to be made for a global release in mind. Though the English dub ruined the series plot.
@@kaiser1963 I bought the DVD not reading the fine print that it was the dubbed version since I watched the Japanese voices years prior, it was so bad, turned it off in like 5 minutes of the first episode. Thank goodness it was in a bargain bin. I still have it around.
This was probably my First ever anime, coming even before I ever met pokémon Beyblade and ALL, I was 3 or 4 years Old, I liked so much that I even had some astro boy figures That I always had with me wherever I Go, sadly I don't know what happened to them, I was too Young to remember
Make sure it's not the English dub, they cut out so many episodes and reordered some of them around, for the 2003 version. Hopefully the warning gets to you in time, because the removed and shortened episodes really suffer from it.

The animation budget in this show was C R A C K E D for 2003. And the crazy thing was it was almost all completely consistent. Not a single strange looking shot in most episodes. Most of the show was cel animated which for the time was being transitioned out of and was rare as hell at the time, nobody was doing it anymore. But it looks more aesthetically pleasing, the sharp, precise linework and consistent animation are present all throughout this show and it fits with this much darker and more heavy retelling of the story. I prefer the 80’s series, mainly because it captures the spirit of the original manga perfectly, and I do like the 60’s series in strange way because of it’s accuracy to the actual manga stories themselves, but god damn dude the visuals in this show are some of the best that early 2000’s anime has to offer. And this shit is really good too, I have absolutely no clue why they haven’t redubbed this show yet. The English version of the 2003 series was completely butchered. It was way more popular in Japan than it was over here, in fact the one with the most success in North America was the 80’s series, for it’s (relatively) faithful dub. For a dude who’s probably THE single most recognizable character to Japanese people, and easily their Mickey Mouse, it’s strange that the only 100% accurate translation we got was the dark horse translation of the manga. I really wish we got a legit redub of the 80’s and 2000’s shows. They honestly deserve them. Too bad the rights for almost all Tezuka properties are insane to get a hold of
@@tobiasarevalo9929 It does, if you're short on budget and time animation mistakes are easier to happen, just look at Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water for a nice example of what happens when there is no money and time left and they made you do more episodes than the original count. Hell, One Piece's animation has been bad for almost 10 years (pre-Wano) exactly because of cutting corners on time and budget.

国産新規アニメが全部デジタル制作に切り替わってた2003年にあえてセル画にこだわって、世界中から優秀なアニメーター集めて作っただけあって20年経った今でも通用する作画レベルだし、下手すりゃ今のアニメより動きとか書き込みが上だと思う
アニメ本編じゃないパートはデジタル制作だけど歌詞に合わせてリップシンクさせたり、日本アニメの始祖たるアトムのリメイク作品だけあって細部まで手の込んでるアニメーションだ

Nostalgia hits so hard
The animation budget in this show was C R A C K E D for 2003. And the crazy thing was it was almost all completely consistent. Not a single strange looking shot in most episodes. Most of the show was cel animated which for the time was being transitioned out of and was rare as hell at the time, nobody was doing it anymore. But it looks more aesthetically pleasing, the sharp, precise linework and consistent animation are present all throughout this show and it fits with this much darker and more heavy retelling of the story. I prefer the 80’s series, mainly because it captures the spirit of the original manga perfectly, and I do like the 60’s series in strange way because of it’s accuracy to the actual manga stories themselves, but god damn dude the visuals in this show are some of the best that early 2000’s anime has to offer. And this shit is really good too, I have absolutely no clue why they haven’t redubbed this show yet. The English version of the 2003 series was completely butchered. It was way more popular in Japan than it was over here, in fact the one with the most success in North America was the 80’s series, for it’s (relatively) faithful dub. For a dude who’s probably THE single most recognizable character to Japanese people, and easily their Mickey Mouse, it’s strange that the only 100% accurate translation we got was the dark horse translation of the manga. I really wish we got a legit redub of the 80’s and 2000’s shows. They honestly deserve them. Too bad the rights for almost all Tezuka properties are insane to get a hold of
This series was my first exposure to anime and was my childhood. I re watched it earlier in the year and it holds up really well.

@@tobiasarevalo9929 It does, if you're short on budget and time animation mistakes are easier to happen, just look at Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water for a nice example of what happens when there is no money and time left and they made you do more episodes than the original count. Hell, One Piece's animation has been bad for almost 10 years (pre-Wano) exactly because of cutting corners on time and budget.
Give it to Hideki Anon. Or Ufotable studios.
