- There isn't a good quality upload of the Japanese version of this fight, so I went and did it myself. I'll probably upload the fight with Pluto later so look out for that I guess.

This was anime at its peak imo. The backgrounds ooze style, the characters have so much detail, and are consistently on model.
People forgot this was/is one of the most expensive animes ever made, I have read in some place the budget per episode was like 200k $USD, even for today's standars anime productions is a lot of money

Would say it still hold up even today, there are many modern anime that wish to be animated like this, it's only looks "retro" because the art direction & stylized character design that still leap and bound from source material.
This was really good even by today standards for a anime tv show there’s no short cuts or speed lines
For a 50 ep tv show the animation is ver consistent and good. Even the most economic episodes looks good.
Looks better than today animation anyway. If it's today, those vehicle would be in textureless 3d model

Call me a boomer, but I really miss when anime in general had this level of dramatic tension and storyboarding back in the day.
I heard that this Astro Boy show also aired on an old favorite channel of mine that first gotten me into anime like this one in the first place called Jetix, which imo makes me feel Nostalgic :)

Plus Astro Boy anime always have been goated , even the 2024 Pluto serie
The power of 50 episodes. You had the screen time to let moments hang and linger without fear of running out of space for the plot. 13 ep shows really struggle with that.
Animation had no business being this clean back in the early 2000's

@@DullNickif you were around you might remember this was the peak of anime fever and cheap stuff was being bought, commissioned, and western animation was taking eastern cues, good and bad.
For this specific year this was a few cuts above its peers, I give that.
Atlas's voice is Nobuyuki Hiyama
Who voiced Gai in Gaogaigar and Shiro in Gundam 08th ms team, even Link in Legend of Zelda.

You know despite the fact that the anime came out in 2003 or 2004, it looks like something from the 1990s. It really makes it look timeless.
Because it was one of the last anime ever made using cel animation exclusively
I still think this is one classic that i can go back too and enjoy it

I heard that the Dub ver. of this show use to air on one of my favorite channels growing up called Jetix :)
I saw it on Cartoon Network's Toonami, but I didn't like it only because it replaced Cyborg 009 before they actually finished that show. But actually Astro Boy is really good.

I'm like 90% sure both Capcom and Tezuka Prod. know of the similarities and made some art of Megaman in the Astro Boy art style and vice versa. I think there's also a comic or something? Not for sure, but it seemed pretty rad.

This is pretty ironic considering Megaman was made because Capcom lost the rights to Astro Boy.

Astro boy was actually the first anime I rlly got into (ironic considering it’s often considered the first MODERN anime) but I wanted to ask, where can you actually find the complete version of the jp version of this series? I can only ever find the dub.

Actually they did make a Megaman anime a long time ago but was never released in the states.
I'm of course talking old school MegaMan, not the Megaman NT anime.

Mega Man was actually going to be an Astro boy game at one point, though it was changed due to some copyright issues. So that's probably why.
