Dave and Paul both come off as two humble but honest human beings.
that Hendrix sounds bloody awesome!...ohboy!
yes coming out of that guitar and still getting PAF sounds!! wowwwww
i like dave,he doesnt idolize and patronize paul.
same thought of mine!
ITS NOT COIL TAP. it is humbucker to single coil switching. You are turning off one coil of the pair.
If you were turning off ONE PART OF A COIL to go from higher to lower resistance and output that's coil tapping of that coil.
You could basically wind the bobbin wire with a tap-out interrupting part way through the windings that allows you to switch on or off some of the windings. Could do that with both coils of a humbucker too, say to switch from an 9.5 k down to a 7.8 k resistance.
It would be like having two flavours of pickups (eg. hard rock and vintage PAF) available in the same position just by using the available pickup windings differently with a simple bypass circuit. In fact with humbuckers the bypass setting could switch to an uneven windings mode that has a little less humbucking cancellation and more open brightness, if the two coil taps on a humbucking pickup, were tapped out at different points. Some old PAFS are unequally wound and sound good. .
This would be fun to develop in a lab.
F*ck, there's a whole stack of Dumble heads behind Paul... Who's the owner of that place?!
mmmmmm... Dumbles....
