Cristiano Ronaldo's Return to Old Trafford | 'The Prodigal Son Returns' | UCL 2012/13

- Manchester United looked on course for a place in the quarter-finals at Real Madrid's expense after Sergio Ramos's own goal gave them a platform to build on the 1-1 draw from the first leg at the Bernabeu.
But at 56th Minute Nani was shown a straight red card and Jose Mourinho's side, a subdued force until then, took advantage ruthlessly with two goals in three minutes from ex-Tottenham midfield man Luka Modric and former United golden boy Cristiano Ronaldo to move into the last eight.

Hello
Give massive respect to When Ronaldo didn't celebrate when he scored. He's a True Red.
He's always loved United.
And now his home ggmu
He not smiling all night
He celebrated at juventus
He’s not at the penchester club anymore
@@juniorbest6553 that’s cause all the people he knew were gone it’s not the united he played for
Admit it. Peak mourinho was the reason that made european nights into something else
Yea yea
Duh
Of course
Admit it. Peak summertime is warmer than other seasons
I hate and I love him
Missing those beautiful days with our symbolic stars storming the rainy pitches with their glare of dazzling techniques, power, sheer enthusiasm, flash of real dynamism, intensity and die hard fighting spirit until the end😄🥰 the ever lasting generations of inspiration kept in memories, first half of the decade was a different story
This game was so difficult for me to watch because I love my United and Ronaldo and I didn’t cheer nobody in this game. After he left United I continue supported him, his career in Real Madrid and Juventus. Finally he’s now back with United!
same bro
Well he"ll probably go again. He is Mr Champions, cannot miss one. Is sad that he has to go and is also sad if he stays
Leaving 😥
This was such a legendary game. Superstar managers, superstar players on both the teams. Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford and scores a winner. Damn what an iconic match.
As a United fan this game was one of the most robbed I have ever felt of a result. However the way we played after going to 10 men and after going a goal down made me so proud of that team. It’s a shame that the current has no heart compared to this one. I genuinely think that had Nani not got sent off we would have won this game and potentially the champions league that season
But he did get sent off and you didnt win the UCL that year and you was not robbed as it was a horror challenge for the red card, plus what do you expect from any team a man down and 2 goals down? To defend? Your proud of normality. Normal does not win you titles.
bro that was a clear red?
@@07940657202 Yes I am proud of the way that team played. If you have watched United once in the last probably around 4 years you would understand why I am proud of how much that team fought.
The current United team and for the last around about 4 years has never once fought like this. United now has no heart and no passion. Nobody plays for the shirt anymore. They all get payed at the end of the day and thats all they care about now.
@@akramadmani5073 Maybe today it would be as the rules have changed. But back then if fouls weren’t with intent (for example a player was un aware of another players presence) then it wasn’t a foul. Nani didn’t look once. His eyes were on the ball the whole time and all the replays showed that.
😂🤣you have got to be kidding
Diego Lopez is such an underrated GK
I hated when he would do silly mistakes 🤦🏽♂️😭
He was Jose's fav at real madrid
Get tf of here m8 .... you are triping
Mohammed umair b*tch what
@@xhesianmulgeci7011 what is your problem 💩💩
What a game that was..
The last time Man United looked so threating even without big names..
Remember watching this match one night before my exam
Love you ronnie you didn't celebrate when scoring and now your back at the theatre of dreams home ❤❤👏🏾🐐👌🏽
He celebrated by flexing his abs during the 2018 UCL game...
@@sinless4088 not vs united
But vs mourinho
This aged well 😂
Remember this night. Was classy of Ronaldo to not celebrate his goal. He had every right to considering he’d just scored the winner in a champions league knockout match, but chose not to out of respect for United and the United fans who gave him a standing ovation. He has his moments but top notch professionalism from him here.
The way Ronaldo didnt celebrate
The sense of injustice that night was unreal...As Mourinho said himself...."The best team lost"
6:18 What a rocket by modric!
He is a master of that type of goals
@@diyarsirwan7502 True✨️
United competed with Real's galacticos 2.0 with that squad proves how great a manager sir Alex Ferguson was.
What are you talking about? That United squad won the league easily that year.
Galacticos wasn't that much of a tough squad... It was over hyped coz of star players .... The 2.0 u r refering to was way better
This was definitely better than the Galacticos
This match is when Luka Modric became a Real Madrid player in the eyes of the entire world. And the rest is history... 🤍
Now they have him, AGAIN !
@MILITO 537 love Jesus I’m Muslim tho
Man, it's been already 8 years gone, how many stars we had inside the field, beautiful nights of football, seems like we have less quality players now !
I agree the quality is less now
We had Tom Cleverly lol. But Fergy knew how to make these average players count.
At Utd or in general? Either way I completely disagree
@@TumblyFootball tbh with you if you look back then... they had cr7, messi, ronaldinho, zidane, nedved, trezeguet, rio ferdinand, vidic, rooney, brazilian ronaldo, adriano, eto, drogba, ballack, podolski, schweinsteiger, tevez, pirlo, gattuso, maldini, nesta, cannavarro, thuram, cafu, roberto carlos, rivaldo, figo, beckham, guti, oliver kahn, frings, lampard, gerrard, scholes, giggs, kaka, henry, viera, staam, Bergkamp and Schmeichel there are so many legends from the old football that i probably couldnt produce a list of the number of world class players in todays game. We have elite players (players above world class) like cr7 and messi this past decade then some notable world class players... back then the number of world class players you can pick is a lot more. I don't think there is as big a list of world class players as there was then...
The fighting spirit in this team was adorable❤️
Forget Messi for all the hard working individual and one who love this sports to the core, Christiano Ronaldo is the man
Straight red absolutely good decision 👏
Ozil is the reason why they won what a beautiful pass he should have stayed to Madrid
As soon as he left they won the champions league lol
Imo the reason united lost was the Nani exit
After he left real Madrid won 4 ucl
Sir Alex miss Ronaldo so much and Ronaldo also😢😢💔💔
Thank you for all, El Capitano
Welcome to Manchester united Sergio Ramos ♥️🔥
Image Benzema, Modric & Kaka are all subs in those days
9:26 😂 Ferdinand's passive aggression
Thank you for re-uploding it!
Honestly, Utd is robbed, that wasn't red card for Nani! For me it's a joke how English teams were robbed against Spanish
2006 - Offside goal for Barcelona at 1-1
2009 - 4 clear penalties for Chelsea not given in semis against Barcelona
2011 - van Persie got send off 3 seconds after shooting ball after whistle at Nou Camp
It's unbelievable how Spanish teams are robbing English teams!
That was a red card for Nani though, the ref was right.
Real
Manchester United would have won if nani didn't get the red card
@Mitch Ddhfacetyy he was trying to intercept the ball you clown
I think we all agree that was the key moment I think busby babes showed great desire and commitment even after 10 men we only lost on paper not in the hearts and minds
That Luka Modric goal was insane
What a performance by Diego Lopez
United with all those ageing players were still on top and look at them now

For the rest of my days I'll never get how the fuck that was a red card
Ganasnya MU di bawah asuhan opa fergieson,,,,taktikalnya sangat beda jauh sama MU yg sekarang, kangen MU perfom sperti ini😭
Ronaldo, Kaka, Modric, Di Maria, Alonso, Ozil, Benzema 🤯
How I miss the ITV days
The commenter was awful though, fat unfunny lad with a mic.
Perez must have bought that referee
Don't see passion like this at united much these days (ferdinand fergie) but maybe now Cr7 is back things could change again 🙏 we do have a very good squad now though 👍
what a goal by Modrić
Varane, di Maria and Jose all ended up at utd that's so interesting
3:31 Ah...the good old times. When United fans could still applaud Di Maria LMAO
Still watching...
"And real Madrid are infront", never get tired of hearing that
And we here it too much
Ozil for that second Madrid goal, my word he was so amazing at Madrid
Manu squad is not strong enough and refree is still real madrid side but with 10 man how many chance do they create, sir alex is still world no 1...
Lol if the referee was on real side, then explain how tf wasn’t this a penalty 5:35

how the fuck did sir alex fight prime madrid with cleverly and welbeck. GOAT manager
this match proved how corrupt UEFA are. unnecessary red card, and then no penalty given when it was a clear penalty
Ronaldo knew what he had to do. However you could tell it hurt him to score against Man U at Old Trafford
6:55 tells you TC was never good enough to be a United player, absolute passenger
Ramos should have been given a red card
8:56 stonewall penalty
when united didn't fear anybody
If anyone ever tells you VAR is bad show them this video. The amount of calls the ref got wrong is hilarious.
VIDIC 💣🔥
Clive was the best Champions League commentator ever I miss him
He still does CL commentary, but that now depends on your location I guess as broadcasts with his commentary are now limited to the USA, I believe.
Ref after the whistle blow😂😂
Who's here after we Signed Raphael Varane.
But Most importantly. WE GOT CRISTIANO RONALDO.
CR7 IS HOME.
Great goal from Ramos!
No matter what Manchester United blaming the referee, that was a dangerous stunt by Nani. His foot, straight at the heart organ, definitely a dangerous move and deserved the red card.
That flick from Özil
People still cry about that Nani was rightfully sent off 100% a red all day that he followed through with his foot.
behave
But man Utd should have as well been given a penalty
Referee always favour the Spanish teams. Just look at this match what referee did whole 90 min. One red card given, 2 clear penalties not given....always Spnish teams get his type of advantage in Europe

a team of average player Ferguson made them shine.
Average players??? Ferdinand, Rooney, Giggs, Van De Sar, Van Persie, Vidic etc lol. Are you sure these were average players?
@@mrjones29 Van Der Sar already retired at this point in time
@@animevortex8075 he joined the team in his 30s and won everything - that's my point. if you are good enough, you are good enough.
Worst red card decision in the history of the champions league. Disgrace.
That was a clear red card don’t know what the fuss was all about
so we're just gonna ignore that pass from ozil
Real Madrid is the best club of all times
barca
Incompetent ref, Arbiloa was in Nani's blind spot.
Luis Nani's red card is absolutely unfair because it was not intentional and nani was focused on the ball forward and he didn't see higuain in the first place were in the exact time was showed up with a jump that is why nani hit the Belly of his opponent and if VAR was have in that time I think it must be a foul only not a red card or maybe yellow but especially not a red card nani has a reason to question his position is near no man's land at the time.
Learn the rules first. Unintentional isn't something that can save you from getting red card for dangerous/reckless play. Same as "not seeing" other player.
@@oumajgad6805 so what do you want Nani to used, his head? and also it is not reckless The ball is the half body high and nani want to reach it on his stretch leg, also if you watch the video Nani's foot was straight and suddenly Higuain showed up but for me it's not hard because if it's a nano seconds I think it is less pain.
@@Ftblgrc It is amazing how much mental gymnastic you people go through to justify clear red card. Nani did king fu kick, hit other player in the chest and you are surprised that he received a red card. Imagine this: Real player doesn't jump. In this case Nani would have kick him in the head. Still not dangerous enough?
And you claim VAR would have change this decisions? How? Rules are clear simple here. Such reckless and extremely dangerous faul are penalised with red card.
@@oumajgad6805 it won't be a straight red card bro if you look closely lol
@@Ftblgrc How closely am I supposed to look at Nani doing kung fu kick? You people are realy delusional.
Ramos is all over the place 🤣🤣🐐

that red was completely unfair, changed the whole game
It was a clear red though.
Did maria knew where to find higuain
cüneyt çakır yine maçından içinden geçmiş
I swear every ref is against Man U
Man U was robbed.... But still the reff ws right giving Nani a red. His boot was literally in the other players gut.
Nani was playing so well until he got sent off
i missed Diego Lopez as much as i missed Iker Casillas
Disgusting game. We were so easily on top the ref just had to send one of our players off.
That should have been a yellow card for Nani ..not red.
Ref spoiled this game !!
Still , can't forgive the ref for that red card.
Kung Fu Nani
Later they got destroyed by Lewandowski in semi
The fucken referee bottled it with that red card, he cost us/Man Utd the game😡
