  • Watch Dr. Ahmed's talk at the Scripps Brain Injury Conference 2019, where he shares the latest advancements in brain stimulation and targeting techniques.
“No two brains are alike,” says Mohammed Ahmed, Neuropsychiatrist and Medical Director of Kaizen Brain Center in La Jolla, California. “Every traumatic brain injury (TBI) is different, and every Alzheimer’s patient’s symptoms are distinct. This means that the more detailed information we have about a specific patient’s unique brain architecture, the more accurately we can target their treatment.”
Recently, a team of neuro specialists developed a groundbreaking new biotech tool that captures just such brain data at a higher level of detail than ever before. The tool uses data from fMRI, a form of imaging that looks at changes in blood flow, to create 3D maps of an individual’s complete brain circuitry to identify exact locations linked to specific symptoms. Shan Siddiqi, Harvard Neuropsychiatrist and Kaizen Brain Center Advisor, along with a team of other renowned imaging experts, developed the targeting technique.
“This is a gamechanger in treating TBI and Alzheimer’s symptoms,” says Kaizen’s Ahmed. “We’ve already begun using Siddiqi’s network-based targeting tool to improve the efficacy of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy.”
