What instrument can he not play? There was a video now in the UA-cam abyss showing the group all playing electric guitars and he was leading them with depth. I haven't been able to dig it back up.
Beautiful wonderful Song. It has the old traditional Gentle Giant Spirit, which we all-time-Fans hope to see brighting again as a children's dream, by the GG reunion for all of us wanted. God Bless you Kerry and eternal thanks for your everlasting Contribution not only to Progressive but to Contemporary Music as well, with your excelse and exquisite Composition. AZG
Kerrie in his element. To think I fell in awe of the GG in the mid 70s and 35 plus years later I still crown them the best prog rock band ever and my all time favorite. Simply the best!
This is what I believe: before we come to this Earth there must be a fountain for each talent. This man must have drunk from many of those fountains: composition, arrangement, vocals, cello, recorder, tuned percussion and keyboards. Wow! Thanks, Kerry.
I found this 1984 recording in an unfinished state when I was saving the old 24-track tapes back in 1996 and -98. I thought, what if we got JPW to record drums for it, and what if we got Gary to record a guitar solo, and WHAT IF we got Phil Shulman to wrire a lyric for this beautiful song, and what if it was all completed for the release of Scraping the Barrel, later released in 2004. We did. It all happened. -Dan Bornemark, producer for Gentle Giant, Scraping the Barrel and Under Construction.
Why did you not ask Ray and Derek to cooperate? (I always thought the Giants end was caused by the fact that Derek led the group back to that old Simon Dupree sound, and Kerry could not go with it anymore.)
@@andreasoberndorfer5476 Hi Andreas. That would have been perfect of course, but they were quite clear in those days that they had little interest in participating. I did exactly all I could. :)
hey. this is Patrick De Meyer writing on my girlfriends acount, sorry. to me Kerry was the best leadsinger in Gentle Giant. the higher intelligent way he created & played the Gentle Giant-keyboardparts inspired me a lot. to me GG & Tull were the best uk-progrockbands, yes.
Absolutely beautiful. Kerry is one of the most underrated musicians of the '70s. He is a keyboardist on the same level, perhaps even above, of Rick Wakeman, Tony Banks and Keith Emerson, as well as singing wonderfully and playing very well various other instruments. Still, it is rarely quoted. For me, however, he is a giant.
Well, he is supposed to have majored in percussion and not the keyboards. Also played the cello he claims quite poorly. Could run off playing masterful interludes on the xylophone as well. They use to have a bit where they all switched instruments. The drummer Weathers thought these Shulman Brothers were naiveblues players and was shocked during his interview to join the band when one of the members had an idea and they all jumped up to play along. I treated them as my own unique treasure. Real quality. Made you feel special as an audience member.
Return to lovely home, where we belong, the light of the infinity of creation, mather father sister brother, the core of love where all begins and all come to end.Superb feeling.
Sorry for being the guy who pisses in everybody's cornflakes ... but as a longtime Giant fanatic who saw them five times and bought their albums when they came out since The Power and the Glory, I find this song a little ... annoying ... I mean, Kerry has an absolutely angelic voice, but there's nothing here (unlike, say, Moog Fugue) that's particularly Giant-worthy. It's a generic pop tune. There's none of the quirky rhythms or delicious chord changes that make a Kerry song in Gentle Giant. And the lyrics are about ... looking forward to retirement. Sheesh.
You can hear Gentle Giant in his voice and music. I need more!
The most underrated musician of the entire prog rock era. Kerry is my hero
There would be no gentle giant without Kerry !

I m crying sorry. I see part of My life in this song. Thanks Kerry. You find me... thanks forever!!!!
I love Kerry's voice. It really created the right atmosphere for the brilliant music that all the guys delivered.
Fantastic!!! His daughter, Sally Minear, has an angelic voice also. Must run in the family.

Agree..
you do not need to be a GIANT to make a beautiful song....i will always think of him with kindness.
I'll cry for everyone body
Blessed to have met him and be inspired through his kindness.

Absolutely beautiful.

Indeed. They kept it together. One member wasn't any less Gengle Giant than the others.

My favourite keyboards player of the 70s together with Dave Stewart, and the Nocenzi brothers.
Superb song and arrangement, and crystal clear voice by Kerry.
Had no idea of this. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Beautiful song, beautifully sung.
I love his voice
Beautiful.
Kerry wrote most of the complex music with bassist Ray Schulman in GG. But yes....Kerry has a superb melting voice.
Kerry was the heart and soul of GG.
Yes. They were the flesh and bones..
@@wsc1955 for sure without him it would just be a normal band
Wonderful Song!
THANKS!!! it is so nice to hear something new from Kerry! he is a real Giant ;)

He was right up there with Emerson and Wakeman, but could also sing great too!

Most Gentle Giant fans are now retired ........ so pretty appropriate really
Its just that so many of us wish there had been just one more GIant Album, and this is all we have.
