  • I LOVE the paradiddle rudiment and any variation thereof. One of my favorite rhythmic groupings is fivelets.
I came up with these two short licks combining single paradiddles, paradiddle diddles, egg beaters, and fivelets with displaced sticking (I'm sure there's a name for these). Tap fivelets?
The first part is played at 81 BPM in 4/4 meter.
The second part is played at 78 BPM in 5/4 meter.
Both examples should also repeat off the left hand. My left-hand lead on egg beaters is dismal at the moment so I'm just demonstrating the right-hand lead.

They really are...once the spacing is perfect! I have a lot of work to do. The inverted paradiddle 5's are probably my fav followed by French 5s/Eggs

@@MatthewBauerMusic I particularly like inverted 5's. They have a good feeling and you can backstick them too!!

Thank you for viewing. Appreciate the comment. Timing is a process. Every time we play we try to get better at matching it.

Honestly, now going back and watching this, I think I performed this with about 90% timing accuracy. I don’t always strive for that one ‘perfect video’. I like the raw aspect including mistake and all. I wrote this with my love of fivelets and paradiddles in mind. I’ll keep at it. If you play it send a video!
