    Nice presentation.Thank you for sharing.
Perhaps a little too much backlight from the side window and the lamp, which makes the picture a bit blurry and a bit harder to follow? You also released the moving part of the tailstock, but with yourself in between the camera and the tailstock. I could not see the exact procedure. No problem for me, I am shure I shall manage. But it is an essential and for some people difficult part of the procedure, so is would be nice to show such a detail.
I really appreciate you used the W40 only as a cleaner and not as a lubricant because it isn't, although the label does say so! The correct lubrication indeed is a proper kind of oil or grease, as you used after cleaning and wiping off the dirt AND the W40😊
Due to your intro music I thought for a moment I started a DIY presentation of youtuber Techmoan😏
I am looking forward to your next part. Thank you in advance.

Hi Meindert, 1st video from home/shed, next 2 are from a different work area and I hope better images. I will improve the lighting in the other location soon, as I agree could be better.
      Cheers Pete

Hi, Peter! This is exactly what I was looking for, as the intruction manual doesn't say anything about tailstock cleaning. Though my English is rather good, I have some problems with your murmur. Not only in this video. Could you please speak a little more clearly? Thanks

How do you clean the newer version that is the self ejecting tailstock. There is a grub screw on the side near the front. I assume loosen that and then remove the retaining clip? The wheel doesn’t have any obvious way to be removed first. Is there a video?

Hi Pete & RecordPower! The part where you took off the parts went a bit fast, and I could not get whether you mentioned the little screw behind the tailstock that apparently should go into the groove. You say the groove can get debris in it and (if the screw tightened outside the groove?) there might be scratches and bumps and you file them off.
I followed the maintenance routine you showed here and was able to fix issues that I had (had loosened some parts and assembling the cleaned tailstock sorted it out). But now a few weeks later I am running into a problem; the hand wheel feels tight or stuck and is really hard for me to tighten, like I need both hands to tighten spindle work between the centres. Also the screw gets loose, I have managed to spot that before dropping it to the shavings but when that eventually happens there will be weeka of downtime just because need to order that tiny screw from somewhere.
I think I have something not done right. The manual is aimed for a user that knows all this and really isn't explaining what each part does and what is the correct way to adjust the parts, how to assemble the tailstock in the right order and to ensure it is right. I don't think the tailstock is supposed to do this (handweel getting stuck or hard to turn, screw coming loose and popping out, clap between the handwheel and the moving of the tailstock) but also I assume it is not broken, just assembled/used wrong? As a newbie turner I need info to understand what is the purpose and proper function of each part and how to use it properly the way it was designed.
I tightened the screw tight, then loosened a few millimeters back so the tailstock can move. But there comes times when the handwheel starts to get hard to turn, it feels like there is a bit of clap when I loosen it, or it feels jammed. What is causing this, how to properly assemble the parts? Why does the screw get loosened and the groove rotates away from it, and how to prevent it?
Also normally when I turn the inner part inside the tailstock frame normally there comes a point in which the morse taper of the live centre loosens and can be removed from the tailstock gently. Is it intended tombe usef´d this way This operation has gotten fuzzy, it is difficult to tell when it glides in easily and when the morse taper comes loose. I have also had major issues with the drill chuck from the start, it does not stay put. All parts are original from Record. The tailstock live centre kit that has the more taper split into two profiles in the middle, and it never loosens by itself. The drill chuck has straight morse taper without the recess in the middle and it does not stay put. The Record website has images of a drill chuck with that profile and I was expecting to get a chuck like that but my dealer said the design has changed. In my opinion the recess plays a major role in how well the morse taper gets grip and stays in place, so if that is not available, what to do? Drilling is super important for the items I do and I have had situations in which the drill chuck came loose and fell off, luckily no injuries happened but that was extremely dangerous and could have cause a havoc. It does not make sense to send the tailstock and chuck to HQ if you can provide a good trouble shooting advice (I cannot be without my equipment foir that long). I really love my Coronet Herald and think it is extremely well made, so I don't think it is faulty but something is off and I have no idea what and why and how to troubleshoot and try fixing it on my own first. So, better hands on video and advice is needed.. I do not care whether content produced in a studio, just show closeups and explain the stuff from scratch. Every crafter needs to understand precicely what each part does to be able to figure out root causes and whether something is user error, adjustment and cleaning issue, or something that needs to be shipped to Record for inspection.

Comment posted unfinished. In another video you used the same drill chuck and it stayed put, why mine doesn't and never has? The issues with the hand wheel crank and drill chuck having no grip means that neither pulling the tailstock back or turning the hand wheel backwards to get the drill bit out from the drilled hole to remove sawdust does not work, the drill chuck stays drill bit in the work piece and chuck hanging from it. And is so heavy it's unbalanced immediately and accident-prone.
This video is useful, but an in-depth educational walk-through is critically needed. I love my Coronet Herald, but please give detailed instructions to support clients to use it properly. Thanks in advance.

@@RecordPowerTV Hi, thanks for the reply. I took the tailstock apart yesterday and seems I have been abusing it a bit with force. On hindsight, not a smart move, but that's the learning curve. There was a lot of black powder (ground metal or paint) coming out... The hand wheel did not come out, I believe there is some sort of debris stuck and that causes the tightness and issues I have. Quite a bit of scratches and marks in the quill... I will remove it and clean today and contact support if it is not fixed by that. I believe most of the issues are user error, you gotta start somewhere and in the process you are likely to break/jam everything at least once before you know how to use it. :D Again, please consider making more detailed maintenance videos, the trouble shooting info on the manual does not tell what to do if the hand wheel is stuck. I will try to knock it out gently and if I break it, I will order a replacement, no big deal.

Watching the video again I noted I have a newer model of the tailstock, saw a review which said Record has re-designed the tailstock. The quill (?) and how it attaches to the hand wheel is different from this video, the new model does not have that long screw coming out of the handwheel. Also the groove in the quill starts from the screw end in the old model (in this video), and the new model has an end for the groove, which means that you need to know what is the proper order of attaching the quill to the hand wheel and when to insert the blind nut that goes to the groove, and how to align it to the groove. Also no idea how deep in the tailstock the quill should go. Anyhow, will trouble shoot again today.

How about using a silicone spray, rather than WD40? I have a Herald in shipment to me from Stockroom Supply, a dealer in ON, as I am in NS, close to you...across the pond!

Thanks for that Pete. My tailstock has been returned twice to HQ for a problem removing the hand wheel as it would not withdraw. Can you give some idea as to what can cause this problem thanks Les.

Hi Jim, Could you tell what kind of work you are doing on the Lathe, Drilling work, or between centres, then I may be able to suggest something to check, the unit is pretty straight forward in build, 1 part that maybe worth checking is the small, that it is clean, no rough area's to it, and maybe a little oil in groove around the inside of handle.
      Cheers Pete

@@RecordPowerTV Hi Pete I have made some 100mm pepper pots, and 3 sets of 195 mm tall pepper mills the rest of the work is spindle turning and bowl support.
My problem each time was it got harder to wind in and out the quill. When dismantling the tailstock I have been unable to just pull the handle out of the rear. Les.
