You packed a lot of awesome views into such a short trip; I admire the dedication of traveling to the Guads for an overnight. My wife thought I was crazy for driving that far for just one night when I hiked McKittrick Ridge a few years ago. I need to hit Bush Mtn next time I'm out there. Thanks for sharing such solid details/info. I appreciated hearing about how you handle water transport; always fascinating to hear how others do it. I love those collapsible platypus flasks. Keep up the great content, thanks again, Cameron!
Zach, thanks a lot for taking time to comment. And I'm glad you appreciated the video. Some like the longer videos. I had others complain. Everybody is different I guess. That's the 2nd or 3rd time I've gone out for an overnight. It is definitely a little crazy driving that far for one night. It's not ideal, but I take what I can get. Mckittrick Ridge after such a long Drive out sounds tough! I hope to have a lot more videos from another trip coming out later this month. Thanks again for watching.
Yeah, it's not too bad. But the small points along that southern part of the Bush Mt Trail are always more than what you think they're going to be, even though you know what to expect. It's such a beautiful part of the park, though. Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to drop a comment!
Again, thank you for showing us around this great landscape! By watching your videos you definitely helped me have a successful trip when I was out there!
Thanks, Rod. I have some people say these type of videos are too long. But I enjoy them as well. The NetTent clipped in fine. But I think the back corners of the Zpacks tarp aren't quite as long as the Gatewood Cape. There was definitely a little more sag than under that tarp. Had I have known there wouldn't be any wind that night, I probably would have just went with a groundsheet under the tarp. But now I know. Thanks again for watching!
Wow! This was a great trip Cameron. I loved the shots of the arch and looking down to Devils Hall. I asked the rangers once why Hunter Peak had a geo marker with Pine Top but they had no answer. I remember and you probably do too, looking east at night and not seeing all those lights. Kinda sux but....... Regretfully I can't do this anymore but I really enjoyed seeing it again through your lens. I really enjoyed this ✌
The benchmark at the summit of Hunter is dated 1943. I don't know for certain, but I assumed the mountain was originally Pine Top Mountain/Peak and then was later renamed after JC Hunter or JC Hunter Jr who owned the land before selling it to the US government. Thanks a lot for watching. Wish you could get back up those mountains. They're special. I have another trip next month and hope to get a couple videos of some less visited places out there.
Love seeing you in the Guads on UA-cam again! I love Duke’s sausages, but I’ve learned the hard way (in Texas, no less) to believe the warnings on the package about refrigerating after opening. I ate a few in Big Bend that had been opened a few days and got a little warm at the Ocotillo Grove camp site, and my flight from San Antonio to Nashville was, let’s say, agitated.
I know you are really there to search for lost Conquistador gold! Did you hear the Apache ghosts at night? But seriously, I like your tarp and sleep set-up. The Guadalupe Mt. views never disappoint.
I agree with the others. I really enjoy your comments. GMNP is also a regular stop for me. Did you see any mountain sheep while you were on top of Bush? Concerning the route up to Bartlett. On a day without snow, which route would you recommend? The one you took, or the one on the return to Bush? Btw, speaking of Bush, have you hiked to it from Dog Canyon?
I didnt see any Aoudad. I've only ever seen them over near Wilderness Ridge. Although, I know I've seen videos from others with them on this side of the park. I think the ridge I took back to Bush is the easiest, and most direct way. The vegetation was also thinner, which was the hardest part. I have done that hike before. I've hiked all the trails in most directions at least once. I'm trying to incorporate some of the old trails I've only done one or twice into my next few trips. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
I'm planning the same trip but want to hit Shumard as well. Do you think you could do it on the same day? Would you have needed another night on the mountain?
You definitely could do Shumard but I would plan on heading down to Devils Hall afterwards. Or at least that would be my plan. Had I had my tent and everything with me, I would have done this. But I had to go back for it. I don't think hiking out to Shumard and back to Bush is a great idea. That was my plan but I quickly realized that section between Bartlett and Shumard is more than I want to do 2 times in a row.
@davidchapman9791 wow! I had seen a few people had paid that fee. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I honestly think the park went a bit nuts either their off trail rules there for a while. Its the biggest reason I hadn't visited in a while. They no longer require a fee. Starting a few weeks ago. So happy they rolled that rule back.
Also loved the sunset and the night sky!
Loved the leaf color and rocks towards the end as well! Great job!
Great video as always. So glad the park finally listened to park visitors and discarded the restrictive off trail rules.
Yes, exactly. They went crazy there for a bit. I honestly wasn't sure they'd ever roll that back. Feels nice to be able to roam.
Wow! Great looking trip. I love the look of that landscape.✌️
Thanks Jerry!
A very nice hike and report from Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Always enjoy these hike and hearing your comments ... Cheers ...
Thanks for watching as always!

I love it out there. The hike to Bush Mountain is difficult. All up, up and up. Can't wait to do it again😁

Robert, that's awesome. Glad your trip worked out well. I appreciate your kind words as well.
@@CameronHall88 I hope you dont mind but I sent you a short email. Thanks again!
Great video. It looks awesome up there with the snow. I dig your setup. The Six Moons Designs NetTent fits perfectly.
I like these longer videos. 👍

Brilliant episode man, your content and overall presentation are really impressive! Brilliant work
Appreciate you watching!
What an amazing hike! So jealous of the ascent. Must do that some day! Loving this video !!!
Thanks for watching. Bush Mt is such an awesome place for sunset. I've never been disappointed there.
I never knew of this Tejas Arch. Thanks for pointing it out. I will definitely spot by it next trip.
You can see ot pretty easy from the Tejas Trail and from Devils Hall. It was a neat point.
Wow!! What a trip!!! Fantastic video!!!
@@texashikeaholicsadventures thanks for watching!

Oh wow, good to know! Haha.
Great informative vid Cameron. Gotta get out there sometime!
Thanks! I really appreciate you watching. It's a pretty nice time of year to be out there.
Good to see you at GMNP. Looks like an awesome adventure.
Yeah, it was nice to get back out there. Thanks a lot for watching.
@CameronHall88 you're welcome

I'd love to spend time searching for some history out there. Didn't hear anything, but I sleep pretty heavy. Haha. Thanks for watching, Paul.
@@CameronHall88 You did search for history. You searched for and found plane wreckage. Very impressive.

@@CameronHall88 For the last two trips I bought a $150 off-trail permit, do you know if it is required?

What sunglasses are you wearing?
I'm not sure. They're nothing expensive or name brand. I only wear them every once in a while on random trips.
