RIP The crew took extra safety measures in all operations of the vessel . It puts into perspective how dangerous the sea is and how life is so fragile. Thanks for sharing your video
We did everything we could to be safe as per Cptn Gary's requirements. Glad to share. I know how much it means to a lot of people. I never thought such a simple mindless video could hold so much weight
@@salmonslayer707 its the first time ive seen crew wearing helmets and can i ask why you werent with them their last time out? You were lucky my friend
@@jasonlinton9902 it was a bad season, I knew it going in with low quota. But after 8yrs up and down the west coast not making shit it was time for a change and I found myself still playing on the water but getting paid immensely better as a working member of the Local 34 Piledrivers, Divers, Bridge, Wharf, and Dock Builders Union. I wasn't lucky though. I get to live missing these people every fucking day. Wondering if my minds quick thinking might have saved em. All those men were better than I and I'd trade my life for any of them in a heartbeat
@@salmonslayer707 well im glad your still here my friend im a crabber on the eastern shore and our boats are alot smaller but i understand and there was nothing you could have done im sorry for your loss my friend
Been watching Deadlist Catch from since the beginning of the show so many years ago. So sad watching these guys knowing that all will die except for 2. May they rest in peace and the survivors have peace in their lives
Two of the men shown here on deck were lost. Art and Brock and Cpt. Gary up in the wheelhouse. So damn heartbreaking. Crabbers are straight warriors. R.I.P sea soldiers!
Right? It seems like such a basic thing wearing head protection but I don’t remember seeing it before. Grew up skating and some parks required helmets so I’ve spent plenty of time wearing them and they’re not too bad to wear. They’re definitely better than a hard hat. And absolutely better than a Kevlar helmet 😆
I work on freezer trawlers here on the North Atlantic since I was 20…I’m 55 now and can’t remember a time when hard hats and vests were not worn out on deck.
After watching 16 seasons of Deadliest Catch this video better demonstrates what the work is really like without the flashy editing and intercutting weather from different parts of a trip. That’s a busy deck and they are working six-man. Imagine removing two-or even three like the show suggests? I’m not a crabber but have worked in industries where safety standards increased considerably over 20 years. Deadliest Catch featured three boats that all went down for the same reason: capsizing due to the load and/or ice: Big Valley, Destination and Scandies Rose. But there have been several more that were not featured on the show. Either Alaska or the feds will likely mandate new standards soon. The pots & rigging ice and the vessels go down so fast that getting into survival suits and safely off the sinking deck is a matter of seconds, not minutes. God bless all those lost at sea. Personally I’m not a huge fan of government overreach into everything but something has to change or we’ll keep adding lost vessels and worse, lost young men, who should’ve lived another 50 years. Heartbreakingly sad. When we watch these guys (and now gals too) work these decks let us remember who it was to whom Jesus said “follow me.” It was fishermen.

Just finished watching the detailed account of the loss of this boat and most of the crew on Brick Imorter UA-cam channel. How sad and tragic.

And now this vessel lies at the bottom of the Bering sea
The vessel sank in 2019 . some of these men in the video were not on the vessel in 2019/2020 most likely the bait boy

I was thinking the same.
First crew I seen with helmets on. Wondered bout this for a long time after seeing many head injuries from falling objects/ice etc...

To those lost, calm seas and favorable winds. To the survivors, thank God you made it. Stay safe. God bless. ❤️🙏
Bravery, and guts. Rip in paradise

thanks for sharing this.
This breaks my heart
I miss my boys...so fuckin much. I hated Brock at the end of this season. It haunts me that I felt that way

Crazy to think this boat is at the bottom of the ocean
not really when u dont de-ice
@@ED-bx7hjAnd also the skipper didn't wake anybody up until the last minute one of the survivors said which would of made a huge difference.
sorry for the boys who left and their families soon resignation
6 on deck my gosh they had it easy.
Had a couple real green
You really think they had it easy? Think again you clown.
Pêche au crab très interessant !
Desde el trabajo...
Safety played a wicked joke on this crew, sometimes you gotta get out there in rough seas and clear ice no matter what…
