    Very good and nice tutorial - My Osmo action arrived just today - thank to share your enthusiastic experience . I had a little problem to activate it because I have Android mobile phone but after 2 hours of struggling I arrived to success and I've got to activate it - I have seen lots of tutorial on UA-cam about the first time activation with android but I have found my personal solution at last . Noone of the tutorial activation I have seen or watched worked for me, but I repeat at last I have found my way to resolve it . I like Osmo action a lot quiet right for the manual setting opportunities that help us to make the video as we want and not as the engeneer wanted as it were be done in auto mode according theyr point of view - I love manual modes in all cameras I use . White balance, iris, iso, shootter - I always use them in manual mode but I have discovered that Osmo action have a very good white balance in automatic way . I bought also the adapter by cynova to use Osmo action with an external mic an it worked great - and the thing that sorprised me is that this adapter fix great with the cage Osmo action give us in the box . I'll never use it under the water but if it were raining or snowing ( but in Rome, Italy, it snows for only 1 day, every 10 years ) but it rains a bit - so I generally make videos to singers and actors and I love making this video while it is real raining and with the Osmo action I'll never have problem like this anymore and I mean I don't be afraid to break it .Yes while raining I can't use Osmo action with an external mic but I'm concentrate to find a solution of mine to use it all the same and not break the Osmo action .I want to add also one thing about another camera of mine called firefly 8se - but the model with 90 ° lens not the one with 140 ° lens so I have the 90° lens not many people buy - but I can say the quality of the video it makes in 4K but only at 30 ftp is wonderful but I repeat it does'nt have stabilization at 4k 30 ftp so I have to use it with a gimbal - But I repeat the quality of the videos is superb - but it has not so many manualism as Osmo have but I know that now in on the is market the firefly 10X and it is very good also if the stabilization may be not so great as Osmo or GoPro but it has stabilization at 4k 60 ftp as well and a very large sensor os I will buy firefly X very soon and it cost about 150 dollars - but I will use all my action camera alltogether and all my Panasonic as well because when you find perfection you become loyal to all as when you find a good wife you don't go around anymore as a young boy because you have found "the one" and so it is with cameras . Excuse my long talking but I liked your video and I feel you feel the same as you about video creativity so forgive me and I subscribe to your channel and the 78 thumb up is mine and excuse my English Gramma Mistakes . I write all with my real English knoledge and not with the help of Google translator. Why don't you put your name in the title of your videos I Appreciate a lot so I can say Hi to ........ name

    Just purchased one of these and am very happy to have your help in explaining what's what. My last foray into semi pro video cameras was a Canon GL1 back in 2002. In it's day the GL1 was incredible...but this little Osomo costs about 1/8 the price and runs circle around GL1. Speaking of what's what, as a fellow Canada (here in Vancouver) what's that white stuff covering the ground?

    I found that rocksteady doesn't seem to work as well in 4k 60 emulating a gimbal where it smoothes out large movements to make them easier to watch. It still works well for small vibration type jitter and jerky movements, but not large fairly quick movements, so when I mount it to my bike steering where it is moving around a lot I use 4k 30. The better gimbal effect is better than having better quick motion capture of 4k 60 in that situation imo.

    OK. That behaviour with Spot Metering ON is probably what completely blew out the exposure on everything beyond the fairing of the motorcycle. It makes sense. I just am having a struggle to find the settings in the Osmo's menus or I don't even know what settings it has to begin with. I'm not impressed much with the documentation from DJI and their forums are weak. It's a good thing we have people like you getting directly to the point. The next day it's not raining (when is that?) this month I'll be back out riding to compare ON and OFF. Then on to playing with ISO.

    Great video. Have you got any tips wich frame rate to use if you also use other devices to film? My S9 smartphone has only 30 or 60 fps. Two slightly older cameras, which would be useful because of zoom, have 50i, 50p and 25p. I'm wondering whether to use 4k 25fps for easier rendering or 30fps. As I'm only starting some advice would be really appreciated.

    Hello, could you give me an advice which settings are the best for vacation vlogging. I tried a lot of settings, but sometimes i get blurry shots, and not a natural footage. So could you please help me? I also want to know which settings are the best for slowmotion videos.

    • @sixthisoverdrive
      @sixthisoverdrive 3 роки тому

      Auke B I would do 1080 60 fps, auto, max the iso at 800. I always leave it on face exposure. If you are purposely taking slow mo, go for 120 or 240 FPS if there is a lot of light, and make sure you are well stabilized as there is no stabilization at those settings. I also go with the normal colour settings unless you want to get fussy with colour grading, but then you have to mess with white balance as well.

    Hey, thanks for that mate. What settings would you recommend to film a scenic walk in London on sunny day?

    • @sixthisoverdrive
      @sixthisoverdrive 4 роки тому +1

      I would go with the old standard 30fps in either 4k or 1080p depending on what computer you use for editing. After that I would lock in my shutter speed, keep iso at 100. If you are thinking you need slow motion at all then hit up the 60 fps and do the same to the shutter speed. Make sure your shutter speed is at least double of your fps. I would say use 24 or 25 only if you are using other cameras and editing it all together. Otherwise 30fps is less jittery.

      @@sixthisoverdrive Hey, hope all is well. Following your reply. You said to keep the iso at 100. Does that mean, I should use ND Filters to achieve this? I m enjoying the camera, but I can't seem to achieve high-quality video whilst on the automatic settings? (It just becomes grainy, with motion blur?. When I film on manual using ND Filters, I can record great footage which is ideal for my walking tours. However, I would like to know if you can achieve high-quality footage using an automatic setting? Sorry to bother you with this buddy :)

  • @shinkimo
    @shinkimo 4 роки тому

    Not bad. Some good tips, but I think 24fps gives you a better cinematic look. There are trade offs for it - I think it works best if it's a setup shot. But you're right, 30 and 60fps tend to be the most useful - you can always adjust/edit things in post production.

    • @sixthisoverdrive
      @sixthisoverdrive 4 роки тому +2

      I'm hoping the jitters are removed in a firmware update. DJI is really good with their updates. My fear is that the stabilization likes the extra framework for smoothing things out a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@sixthisoverdrive I think overall, people can't complain much. I find it better than gopro already - and firmware are tackling most of the issues at a decent pace.
