I am making Firestorm Damascus! This long process took me two days to accomplish. The most labor-intensive part is twisting the damascus pattern. Doing a tight twist like this can be complicated, and a lot of things can go wrong. If you twist too much, the whole billet could split in two. I made this Firestorm Damascus Billet for @NFTI so he could make a finished knife, so check out this video if you’re interested in seeing that process. • The Coolest Knife Blad...

Nate video 🤔? Well I'll check it out ..
wait nate from TKOR channel didnt know he made separate yt vids
@@traxion9285 Now that he left TKOR he makes some pretty nice knives and has some other potentially interesting content as well if you like the brand vs basic cooking videos he puts out. Calli (also formerly from TKOR) has shown up as a guest in a few of those videos.
What song are you playing during the “multiplying the layers” part?
Cool track.
Loved the billet. That’s will look amazing as a final product.
Yo is it possible to make a damascus with a lightning like damascus on the blade?
Always a treat when two random youtubers you subscribe to do a random collaboration you weren’t expecting,
Gorgeous pattern. Also, the cinematography for this video was a little different than in the past and I'm really digging it. The up close views and slow pans really help tell a compelling story with how the steel comes together to form the final piece of metal. As always, well done everyone!
I definitely agree. It really captures the beauty in the art, as well as your passion for it. Amazing work :)
Honestly, I find the cinematography pretentious, unengaging, and completely out of synced with work going on. Much prefer anything else.
@@breatheasy2693Ok? Go find someone who cares about your opinion, because it ain't me...
Every step you take, is "necessary". _If_ you want to continue producing this level of work.
Don't downplay the extra attention to detail, that easily sets you apart from the masses.
And your ability to showcase your work is as phenomenal as your blade smithing.
Thanks for sharing all of it.
That scale popping of during the twisting is a mesmorizing piece of cinematography. Well done.
Nobody has ever explained things the way you do. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and teach us a bit about this craft.
Wow ( like the way Chris Walken says it ! )
Production values have gone through the roof since I last watched your channel , Kyle . Your step by step is educational and informative for a beginner like me .
Now I've heard your voice I can really hear your passion for this profession .
Thanks once again for being a fellow willing to share knowledge 'cause as you probably know , " you get back what you give away " .
Slainté from Australia , mate .
All the best .
I have never seen twist Damascus made after already patterning it, but the result looks like it's worth it- nice job!
!
What an amazingly complex, yet simple pattern . Great job Kyle. I’m excited to see the final outcome as well.👍🏻
Dang dude, you got some incredible views of this whole process. You can see the love you put into this.
Kyle this video.... Wow. The B roll shots, the music selection, the editing, the pacing.... Amazing.
Even the storytelling was really good, you could add more here though, talking about your emotions and how excited you are at specific stages, what you're looking forward to etc.
This is close to the perfect knife making video.
Just incredible work not just as a craftsman, but as a videographer as well.
You are such a craftsman. It's an absolute joy to share your passion through these videos!
tthe twisting metal gave me GOOSEBUMPS!!! AMAZING CRAFT!!!
I love watching forging videos, and I’ve seen a ton of them. This is by far the nicest billet I’ve ever seen. It drives me crazy when the billet is all bent, crooked and jagged, and the smith just proceeds with his project. I love that you squared yours off and ground it to an almost finished surface by before continuing with the build.
Holy moley! Your production vales are off the charts! Music, camera work and audio recording impeccable 👌!
Kyle, this is blurring the lines between metallurgy and straight alchemy! Magnificent!
I've only recently discovered your channel, but I think you're one of the best forging channels I've found. It's so satisfying to watch the metal move and the scale flake off as you work, and the finished products are just so beautiful.
Shurap
Absolutely stunning...your metal work is next level. Thanks very much for sharing! GREAT job on the cinematography as well!
The slow and cinematic description at the beginning is so satisfying, kind of like ASMR, the whole process is so enjoyable.
Not only are you an artisan unmatched, but I must say that I really appreciate the fact that you never assault my ears with obnoxious music. Your videos are informative and chill.
The pattern is beautiful. The process was fun to watch. Well done Kyle. Like the new boots as well.
Go Team Royer!
Hey, amazing great work!! Love those patterns
Awesome... I like how you left the billet thicker so you could expose more vertices with the grinding... Your craftsmanship is simply virtuosic. Bravo.
Your video about making excelsior is what brought me to your channel. I love the cinematography and the craftsmanship! Great channel!
Nate is doing an awesome job with that billet. I am loving the way the pattern has been shown on the blade.
Wow!!! Always an incredible billet, kyle…! Fantastic 👍🏻
That pattern looks crazy! Definitely headed over to watch what Nate created out of that blank!
Right on!!
Who ever does your videos is a God.
I'm super impressed.
The video angles and pans are flawless.
Audio is fantastic its like actually being there and shadowing your build.
Well done.
The skill is really insane absolute precision.
amazing ! like always kyle, can't wait to see the finish of this another masterpiece
Always love when I catch one of your videos. They are very relaxing and informative
Your work really impresses me.
Enjoying the vids dawg good quality and useful content
I don't know how you don't have more subscribers. You're work is Phenomenal
Yay! another video!
Most informative forging channel I have found. Love the videography
What a stunning billet! Nice work!!
I am thoroughly impressed. The is the first time in a long time that I actually loved with Google recommended. I definitely subscribed. Great work!
Great job Kyle!
Amazing artistry! Great watch.
Those close in shots of the steel being twisted I could honestly watch for hours, just spiritual.
all the close macro slow mo shots are really, really nice, thats amazing work.
Epic, as always, good sir!
That twist is so 🔥great job!!
You have really evolved your production. What an experience. 🙏🙏
Raising the bar as usual sir, amazing work
beautiful work, and also great video !
wish I could afford one of your masterpieces.
Awesome as usual!
Amazing I love it ❤
One of my fav episodes tbh
Good day when Kyle uploades! Love that Damascus pattern. Keep up the great work!
Love the slo-mo close ups w/ the press, that was cool as hell
Absolutely Stunning 😍!!!
I like the close ups with slow-mo
That pattern is crazy! Would go very well with an Oregon sunstone fantasy cut embeded in the handle or some type of higher grade gems🤌🏻
Yo the cinematography in this video was simply out of this world. Your filming is always on-point, but dude, this was on a whole different level.......
I know someone had a lot of fun filming and editing this one, but I also know they put a lot of work into it..... VERY nicely done! Kiss your videographer! Keep it up!!
So beautiful 😍 Waiting your san-mai knife master ❤️
i love your cinematography..... sooooo good
AWESOME 👌 👏 👍
Always enjoy your videos
My mother got me a chef knife made by Wusthof. It's the sharpest knife I've ever held and can't imagine the sharpness of your knives. Are they sharper than a Wusthof blade? It's not the beauty of your blades, but it's the most I could ever expect!!
Love your work!!
Hey Bryan our one off custom knives each have a particular geometry at the blade edge for a particular purpose. We optimize this aspect of our knives. Dad’s chef knife geometry is different for each style and intent of use. We currently use exclusively use carbon steel. We have several high end production kitchen knives in our test kitchen and dad’s outperform them all. Not all knives are the same. Heat treat also comes into play.
Keep Forging On my friend
Dad
Once again my friend, beautiful work!
Hello Kyle.
As many others have already stated...you should have much more subscribers, your work is amazing!
By the way, I would love to see you doing a project with some copper damascus or mokume gane. I saw some interesting projects by Tyrell Knifeworkd and would love seeing you taking it to the next level
Beautiful
I really like your happy music ☺️ The pattern reminds me of spectrograms, really cool 😃
I love your videos. It's very inspirational as I'm approaching my JS Test soon (next week is the break test). I'd be all over your video courses if I could afford them.
Hope it went well!
This guy always puts some pretty righteous tracks in his videos.
I've always enjoyed the forging process, you however have brought it to the next level with great videography , bravo !
Grazie my friend
Dad
ohhh...very cool!
10:18 forge bro just chilling in the spark spray lol
My man, please rise your work to save your posture. I do the same thing, we need to save our necks... beautiful work man!!
I don't have any expierance actually smithing, but the amount of people I've seen have a massive issue because they didn't take their time and do proper prep like cleaning steel on Forged in Fire... Yeah, you can never do too much prep if you're not working to a time limit.
Really, the difference between a £30 knife and a £300 knife is the time spent by all the people involved, not just on this particular blade, but the time spent mastering their trade.
Beautiful pattern, instantly heading over to see the finished knife!
Amazing 🤩 and truly fascinating in a holistic way. Every cell is excited watching what kind of cake you create in your bakery. You use the rough forces of nature and brutal energy but only to the exact proper amount. That’s the MasterKey to Mastery. I love your content and how you lead you spectators through your inner process of following your intuition.
Thanks Tim
Nice looking pattern 👍.
Video,Narrative 10/10 Your work speaks for itself
Cool!
Ur stuff just popped in my feed. Started with EXCELSIOR. Gorgeous build especially the bluing. So rich black. Idea. May be pointless but it'd be a cheap experiment and may yield something neat. A bunch of ur Damascus cutoffs welded together for random patterns. Completely unpredictable but maybe something neat would happen idk. I've never made Damascus, don't have that skill/tool set, but I've always been into knives and firearms and have scratch built a few of ea h, and the journey is half the fun. Great work.
Damn! That is a work of art. I wonder how the structure affects the mechanical properties of the metal. It probably matters less for a knife, but I'd love to see a sword made with a similar Damascus pattern.
A very good job as always lord kyle you r the beste of the beste with love frome algeria 🇩🇿🇩🇿🥰🥰
Really nice B-roll. Super over the top professional filmmaker
You're world class with your knives bro.
the amount of work into this steel is mindboggling. how many days did this video take?
Does the weld/material you do at the beginning matter? Does it match the steel you are welding to? Great video work, editing, storyline, colors, sound - enjoyable to watch - thank you.
This dude is the god of Damascus every time he create something amazing
Nice!
That has the WOW factor. I can't describe it but I know it when I see it,
In order to get rid of the rust areas before forge welding, could you also use Evaporust to do that, or is it just better to grind it off instead? Thank you for your videos, I love them all so far!
This damascus billet turned out wooooo.....💥💥💥
I’ve always been curious to know what the pattern would look like if you twisted the billet, flatten it, cut it, stack it, draw it out and twist it again. And I’m curious as to what the pattern would look like if you twisted it the same direction the second time and if you twisted it the opposite direction the second time.
Ayoo that shot at 7:50 of the twist was the chef kiss
Copy copy
I'm at the point in the video where you're twisting the bar. I don't know what twisting it will do to the Damascus pattern, but that is a beautiful symmetrical twist !!
I came to your channel for the blades, I stayed for the videography.
That billet alone is worth thousands. Straight up beskar steel type of shit.
This is ASMR to me. The filming and editing has gotten REALLY good btw.|
10:25 Grinding and not wearing an respirator.. ...
Hey thanks
Will let Josh know
Cheers
Dad
You know that's what she said 💯
thats the same piece you sent for the nate right!? i just watched the part 1 of that video! this is beautiful. you are a true artist. love and respect man
It sure is! :)
You are amazing I wish I was healthy enough to take your classes I sure would I would love to be as good as you
Sorry about your health my friend. We are all glad you’re here hanging out with us
Dad
you are truly like Vulcan, forging with molten lavas
Honestly this is hella dope to see the process. I thought knifes Were just pressed with a hydraulic sheer and then sharpened
Never twisted a bar that mutch, gotta have to try it
I want to see what happens when you do a twist draw it out and then jelly roll it after.
Then the same process with a cut and stack in the opposite directions after.
