I'm glad they saved the vintage Rolls Royce. But it would've been cool to have a little section aboard the new Celebration. Wishful, "Fantasy" fanciful thinking...but would've been a nice touch, I'm sure. Thanks for commenting and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Great work on another very well researched and very informative video. I had no idea there were so many ships sailing for Carnival Cruise Lines. I look forward to your next video. I can always expect great, quality from your content from your channel. Keep up the amazing work!
Great video, thanks. Reminded of being on Imagination in 2015 (pre fun-ship). Classic. Oh ya, did the Steampunk Symposium Carnivale on the Queen Mary and went right on to the Imagination for a 4-3-4 back to back. One of the best vacations ever recorded. The old Queen Mary never rocked it so hard. Epic….
this video really hit close to me, not even because i’ve been in these ships myself but because i’ve been just been really “fascinated” by them and couldn’t quite figure out why i loved them so much until you described them as 90’s vegas, which i also have a huge interest in (rip Riviera, my favorite vegas hotel ever that is also no more). i really love the design as a whole, both exterior and of course the fabulous interiors which are so whimsical and unique. i don’t need to say anything about the interior to explain why i love them so much as you can tell why, but i also love the way the exteriors look just because they’re so unique to the fantasy class and give them part of their own identity and not just being like the copy and paste designs we see a lot now. and even when you said “getaway” and made a reference to the NCL ship was so funny to me as that is also what i thought of when you said it, since NCL is my favorite cruise line and more particularly, the getaway (probably) being my favorite ship ever haha. i would love to go on elation and/or paradise soon as i’m scared for their future seeing as they’re the only two left
Very cool video. I was on the Fantasy in 1994 for my honeymoon for a 4 nighter, then a year later for my anniversary on a 3 nighter. Definitely a special memory and sad to see it scrapped. It was nice to see there is a walkthrough video of it on YT now at least. Good memories.
My first cruise ship was Carnival Fascination I’m 2011. Still feels surreal that she was already scrapped. I remember how goofy she looks with the “skin graft” balconies.
I like how the dude who's harassing you was just lashing out at me in a comment section because I critisized bikers for breaking safety laws and making a video about the cop in anger. Keep making videos, people like that person are just sad and aren't worth a penny. He's harmless anyway, can't do crap.
Hey @debug, I really appreciate the encouragement. It's hard when you feel put into a corner and jumped on without being able to explain the entire situation. I'm ready to accept where I went wrong and could have done better. I just hope that they can grow from this experience, too. That we can work things out in a kind and respectable manner. Good lessons for the future. And many smooth sailings for you.
Awesome video! I've never been on a cruise myself so its so cool to see all the different ship interiors and take the ship tour and imagine what it would have been like going on one. I especially liked how you talked about your personal story with you and your Dad, and I have to admit, this definitely made me want a root beer float lol :) Keep the videos coming as always, I'm looking forward to your next upload!
Awesome video! I cruised Sensation (Aug/Sept 1996), Ecstasy (2003) and Fascination (2017). Sensation was the ship I went on my first Carnival cruise. I love and appreciate the iconic Joseph Farcus design of the ships. I am sad and heartbroken that one by one, the Fantasy Class ships are being scrapped.
Awesome stuff! It’s definitely sad to see these ships go too soon though, being that they are a big part of Carnivals history and making. My travel agency markets many Carnival Cruises and it’s unfortunate to see how hard the cruising industry was hit from the pandemic and the price it cost them. I’m looking forward to new ships that will hopefully bring a lot of new and great memories for people but I’m sure these classic ships will always have a special place in the hearts of those who got the chance to experience them.
Festivale actually sailed with Union Castle originally. Also, why did the buyer of Carnival Fascination choose that ship over Sovereign of the Seas or Carnival Fantasy herself for a role similar to the Queen Mary in Long Beach. I personally think that the buyer should have choose Sovereign of the Seas as that ship was truly an icon, had a rounded Normandie inspired stern, sleek liner like lines, and would easily have become an iconic landmark for any port city without any identifiable landmarks.
Ooh. I didn't catch that! Thank you for the clarification about Festivale's origins. I think one of the reason's Fascination was chosen rather than the original Fantasy was because Fascination has been upgraded with more balconies, and there are probably a few other additions that made her a more lucrative candidate. I agree that the Sovereign or Monarch would have been a sleeker, more impressive choice than the Fascination. But maybe they snagged a better deal with Fascination. Alas, there are many potentials as to why Fascination was chosen over Sovereign or Monarch.
@@ManWhoLovesTheMary Queen Mary was chosen over any other liner by Long Beach because of it's fame, service during World War 2, and availability. That ship is the iconic symbol of Long Beach like the Empire State Building is for New York City. There is definitely a huge interest by the general public for the Empire State Building. The ESB sees about 3.5 to 4.5 million paying visitors a year on average to it's 86th floor observation deck. The Empire State Building is also illegal to demolish as it is under a preservation order by the City of New York and the city would refuse any permit to demolish the famous skyscraper.
I must be part of the minority. I loved the theming of the Inspiration when we were on board, I feel the modern ships are more bland and lacking in character. I still enjoy these ships even if their theming isn’t what it once was. So sad half are gone
I happened to get recommended your video again and I see I left a comment some 2ish years ago. That dream unfortunately got sent to a scrapyard in Turkey, so instead I'm doing Ecstasy's final sailing in October. I gotta see at least one of the older ones in person.
@@hoonami139 Did you wind up taking Ecstasy's final sailing? Would love to see a video if you did! It's sad to see only two Fantasy Class ships left. But hopefully they'll hold out for a while. They're unique and fan favorites, after all...right?
@@ManWhoLovesTheMary I certainly did, it was amazing though definitely bittersweet. Pictures did not do the inside of that ship justice, I've never seen so many mirrors, gold and neon lights in my life, extremely over the top 80s style at it's finest, really glad that got to be my first cruise. When they announce the final sailing of the Paradise I will definitely be there.
GREAT vid Matt! Back in 1997 I had my honeymoon on the Sensation and it was awesome!! Back when all-inclusive actually meant something, lol. Sad to see it go, but I got divorced a year later so it's fitting, lol. I like RC better anyway:)
Hey! Thank you so much for your super kind words. I do briefly at 27:07 mention the suits while only showing huge aft-facing ones. The video was already long enough so I didn’t go into too much detail. A really awesome addition to these retro-classic cruise ships.
I got married on paradise. Been on bigger and better ships since but paradise for sure isn't my least favorite. The old school layout is cool and I'll be sad when its scrapped
I feel carnival has change the way we travel I will not miss the ships because I feel it’s better to have take apart than end up on bottom of ocean or damage from something My view point is new ships will replace them and new dreams will happen
I cruised on celebration as a kid in like 2005 or something and it was a bit run down even then. I've gotten super into watching cruise ship reviews on UA-cam and to be honest i actually like the design of these more compared to the new mega ships Royal Caribbean has and the sparky/shiny modern MSC ships. Those ships don't have the kind of personality and uniqueness of these old ones to me. The MSC ones are so bland and give off that millennial grey/glam style and royal Caribbean ships are just big ugly monsters and look like big shopping malls. The old carnival cruises genuinely have personality and fun to them even if they're often gaudy. Im also a little bit into watching videos on interior design and it seems the minimalist designs are starting to seem dated and post modern and maximalist style is "in" right now especially with gen z. I don't know much about interior design of public and commercial spaces but i wonder if we'll start to see this shift in design reflected in cruise ships someday?
He removed his own comments. He removed a comment I made on the video he posted, too. It's been nothing but flagrant attacking on a personal level, too, making jabs about the fact that I'm promoting mattresses (like it's a less-than thing to promote), name-calling, and blowing it up to, dare I say, cause drama and just be mean-spirited. He didn't have to delete his entire channel. This could have been resolved. But I have my contentions about it. I'd love to give him credit. But his attitude has been really bad. He didn't come to me wanting resolve. He came at me just wanting to be right and in control. It originally belongs to Carnival. You know how many of the same commercials and even some promos that are posted by different UA-camrs? But beside that, I'd like to resolve it. But he is doing everything in his power just to make me look bad, deleting his comments to make it look like I deleted them. I'll send you some of the personal pure mean-spirited things he has sent me. He didn't have to delete his entire channel. It was purely out of spite and to be in control and to create drama. I go back to wanting resolve, this isn't "guilt response" like he's been saying. I've received nothing but pounces from him. No desire for resolve from him at all.
If you allow your pre-disposed, quick-to-defend because-you-like-someone attitude and preferential treatment for just a minute, some perspective can be made. First, this could have been resolved, but he had to claim the videos he posted as his own, choose not to accept the nature of fair use, delete his entire channel and cause drama - BEFORE resolve could have been made, and delete his own comments on this video (and his own video, though I saw that he just made it visible) to hide any reasoning and his own mean-spirited jabs that he made in those comments. Second, do you know how many of the same commercials and even promos are posted by multiple UA-cam users? The videos he posted originally belongs to Carnival. He's probably upset because of the efforts he made in posting them and that he wasn't given thanks for it. This is erratic behavior! And he (given it's a he) is just escalading it to bring positive attention to himself and bring someone else down. What if I found the video by other means and used it? It's really nice that he made it available, and I should have linked it if I haven't already (the description section only allows you to input so many words). I "Liked" the video he posted, watched it TWICE and commented, as a way of saying thanks and ESPECIALLY so that it could gain more engagement, and he turns it around. THIS is what I get for it! Hopefully this brings some resolve.
Great video! Very sad to see these go, have sailed on 6 of them. My fave was Ecstasy. R.I.P.

Took the splendor from Seattle to Sydney last year and fell in love with that ship!
This video was very helpful in understanding why and which ships were scrapped. This was very entertaining! thank you!

I have put it on my top list (next to the first four RCCL ships)!

Can't wait for the next report !!!! 😁😇
Were once onboard to those three cruise ship
The Sensation was the epitome of the 90's and it will forever be a cherished memory. New ships really lack personality like this class
Great, informative and insightful video and narration, well done sir!😊👍👍
