- 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division and supporting units attack the city of Nuremberg (Nürnberg), Bavaria / Bayern, Germany in April 19, 1945. The fall of Nuremberg was significant as the city was in important role in NSDAP lore; the famous "Reichsparteitage" (Reich Party Days) rallies were held there between 1927 and 1939.

My dad was an 8-year-old boy at the time, living a few miles away from where this footage was filmed. He was born and raised in Nuremberg.
My beloved Uncle Norman died here on April 19, 1945. He was 18 years old. He was shot by a German snipper. My mother never got over it.
My father's Uncle, PVT Adrian G. Garcia, assigned to the 180th Infantry Regiment 45th Infantry Division, was killed here on April 18th or 19th, 1945. That could be him in the stretcher. He was from Del Rio, Texas.
My father would later serve in the 160th Infantry Regiment in the Korean War and I served in 1st Armored Division 54th Infantry Regiment.
In 1987 to 1989 I was stationed in the same city my father's uncle Adrian fought in - Bamberg, and I visited the place he died, Nuremberg, many times, not knowing he was killed there until many decades later.
I later fought in Iraq.
3 generations of Combat Infantrymen.
I salute these brave men
I keep trying to see my father in these videos
This film was made on April 19, 1945. If you've seen 'Downfall' (2004), then you'd know that Hitler's staff was preparing to celebrate his birthday, his last, on the 20th in the Fuehrer bunker in Berlin.
