  • What a journey we have had since we first purchased the truck camper. We've ripped out appliances, repaired water damage, demolished cabinets, painted interiors, painted exteriors, rebuilt cabinets, installed airbags, completely redid the electronics, added solar and a battery, installed a diesel heater, and much much more. Though it has taken longer than expected both Tara and I are thrilled with the result and ready to begin our life on the road. Make sure to subscribe to follow our future adventures traveling in the truck camper. Thanks for following along on this journey!

    A little tip when lowering the top. Run the Max air fan on high blowing out, shut the doors, windows, and it will pull in the canvas as lowering. Good Job :)

    amazing updates to a rough old camper. well done. I'd like to put together something similar using the big portable EcoflowPro I used as backup power to my house. Seems smart to eliminate all the old propane based kitchen, even eliminate the camper's breaker panel, with an all in one lithium generator like that. I learned a lot for this series like the Dometic fridge and the kind of vulnerable wood structure in these campers too. Might consider a FourWheel Grandby shell to build out my 8ft Tundra.

      @@BackcountryBanter if there is a gap between the camper and top of bed rails, buy some black pool noodles and squish tem into the space to create a more water seal. Might help with keeping the diesel from water. Works on my spce. Be sure and do front truck rail...Safe travels..

    ACORNS. This overproduction of acorns is what botanists refer to as a mast year. It means a bumper crop. Every 2-5 years trees seem to synchronize an overproduction of nuts, fruits, or berries.

The removable door that serves as a cutting board or at least a work surface if you darn not damage it, is nicer than one would think at first blush.... I love dual-purpose things. I will be building removable storage inside my truck bed... recently bought a Harker Outdoor EDC wedge / shell camper... and ideas from folks like you are well appreciated. I also like the way you took time to show your appreciation for those that helped you along the way. Three thumbs up!

    instead of drilling a 3/4 or 1 inch hole.. to pass a cigarette lighter plug through. Cut it off, drill a 1/4 inch hole.. install a grommet in that.. feed the wire through, and either wire to a terminal strip, or attach a re-usuable plug to the wire. the reasons and advantages should be obvious. same for diesel heater ! and that exhaust passing right through the plastic bed liner.. fire and smoke aint no joke.

    • @BackcountryBanter
      @BackcountryBanter  3 роки тому +2

      We had to move it away from the edge a bit to account for the structure underneath. At the same time out goal was to maximize counter space so we wanted it as close to the wall as possible. We siliconed in between so it doesn’t hold moisture and cleans up easily.
