A piece of greek Mythology that is often overlooked is the fact that Poseidon is also the god of horses, and is usually represented with horses.
That's so cool!
@@matiasgago Its also where the trojan horse story likely came from. Troy had its walls destroyed by a flood, there was no big wooden horse, it was the god of horses that knocked the wall down and let them in.

Thats the wagon that Helios uses to "drive" the sun around. Some say even Zeus himself couldn't ride the wagon. One myth describes the son of Helios getting one wish from his father. The son decides to ride the wagon. His father accepts, but of course, the son isn't powerful enough to ride the wagon. He crashed into Africa (with the sun) and scorched a big part of the continent. That's how the ancient Greeks explained that ppl in Africa are darker of colour and how the desert came to be.
The story ends with the son getting smited by Zeus because Gaia (Earth) begged Zeus to end the suffering she was enduring (the scorched Sahara).
Don’t forget this is ps3 game. Looks better than most new games coming out. Love these series. 1-2-3 are the best GOW games ever!!

GOW 4 and 5 may have the feels and emotional growth, but they got nothing on this absolute beast of a game.
3 is an unrelenting game. I think after the Greek saga, the maturity and sophistication of the Norse saga can be better appreciated
Facts. I still play the older games to this day. I beat 2018 and never returned to it, ended up selling Ragnarok lol.

The growth is necessary, but do they need to change almost everything? Imagine they kept the gameplay and camera style, but with modern graphics, those 2 games would be much much more satisfying to play

The same with "The hands of death could not defeat me, the sisters of fate could not hold me, and you WILL NOT SEE THE END OF THIS DAY! I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!" Oh, and also "chicken".
Funfact: The very first director and gamedesigner of the first Game, David Jaffe had the idea for the thrid game, long ago.. Zeus' had to day at the very beginning, with Hades and Poseidon..and Kratos would be done, and then Seth.. the egyptian god of war would appear and challenge kratos. And we are still waiting for this.. ;)

Btw GoW 4 and 5 are generally shoe ins for great viewership on youtube so even if the GoW journey has taken a bit of a small downturj in views from the FROMSoft journey (and lets be real, just about anything would!) yoy can exoect to see an outsized viewership on the next 2 games as compared to the Greek saga.
Either way, the important thing is you are enjoying yourself. Take it all in man, i wish i could go back and do all the GoW games over for the first time. We all do. Sadly we cant, but luckily experiencing it vicariously through you is about as good a substitute as possible!

In no actual myths are Peirithous and Persephone secretly lovers. Peirithous and Theseus, who were close friends, pledged to marry daughters of Zeus after each of their wives died. Theseus chose Helen of Sparta. They kidnapped her when she was quite young, sources vary on her exact age, to hold her captive until she was old enough to marry. Peirithous chose Persephone. Theseus tried to talk his friend out of this blasphemous act, but was bound by his oath to help. Some sources say that they sat down to rest before ever reaching Hades' palace, and were unable to get up until Heracles eventually freed Theseus. Others say that Hades pretended to welcome them, and threw them a feast, and it was then when they got stuck to their seats.

The voice of Hades is so good. It's funny to me because it's almost the same as Uka Uka from Crash Bandicoot 3, whom Clancy Brown also voiced.
Also, the note at 1:16:33 is Kratos' mother, and the previous note was his daughter. It's kind of a spoiler, but I think you already said you wanted to skip the two games that came before this one.
Yes there's lots of great moments and explanation in those games that he missed. I'm sure if he knew, he would've wanted to play them first.

This game is the definition of epic. The camera in this is so cinematic. Man, I miss this game. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Mati. I salute you for the hustle you do to give us Premium entertainment. My sub is just a small +1, but man, you have earned it! I am so glad, you play the trilogy. it will enrich your experience with the newer GoW games by a lot, I think. You experience where kratos comes from. After so many years, this game has aged gracefully. Seeing how much enthusiasm and admiration you play this masterpiece with is great cinema Mati... I very rarely write comments but today I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the many hours best entertainment

God of war 3 was my intro to the series. My dad gifted it to me one day, telling me it was about Ares. I booted up the game, and realized that Ares was dead, and I’d clearly missed a lot of context. But I still had a blast the whole playthrough. God of War is my favorite game series.
It's kinda funny we keep seeing the boat captain over and over again in each game lol it reminds me a lot of Patches from the souls games
There's a reason why so many people think this one is the best of the trilogy! Its EPIC from start to finish! Literally it starts off epic! In fact, every God of War has an epic start to it and thats part of why I love them so much. This GoW also has my favorite selection of weapons in the og trilogy. The addition of the bow and the item power is an underrated ability too. Oh and btw, Gaia isn't your wife!😂If anything she's more like a grand mother or something. Thought you should know before you call her wife or baby again.😁Anyways, can't wait for the next part!!!
This was awesome man!! This game is one of the best. I got it the day it came out and fell in love with it right away. It came inside a collectors chest of Pandora’s box and an art book of the game that I still have and use. I can’t wait to watch you beat this one.
This was such a blast when it came out in 2010... it is so good up to this day. Kratos never hat lots of chill, but in this game.. playtime it is over and it will be so sweet when you finally start God of War 2018..which is my absolute favorite from all the games + the Ghost of Sparta title.

He had a thing for Demeter, the Goddess of Nature and the Harvest, so he created the Horse as a gift to her. He had several 'failures' before he succeeded, though, including the seahorse; at least according to the legend that I can remember.

And the voice of Poseidon was every Legion soldier in Skyrim, and also Fenris from Dragon Age 2. Meanwhile, Zeus is the inimitable Corey Burton, aka Count Dooku and Hugo Strange.

God of war 3 has an intro that feels more like an end game climax
Just a cool fact I learned. Apparently the devs worked on this part of the game last. After all the knowledge and skills they learned while making the rest of the game. That's why it looks and plays so awesome. Essentially the last thing the did before release.
As a big fan of God of war games. It makes me happy to see others play the game for the first time and enjoy it. It somehow makes me feel proud that others came to love what I have. Love to see you continue this series!

i dont know if you figure it out in this episode yet. But now the button prompts show up on screen in a fight in the same place as they are on the controller. x is bottom of the screen and triangle top of the screen just like the controller etc.

Poseidon kill might be one of the craziest kill cutscenes in any videogame! I was waiting for this from the very start of God of War 1. It is as good as i remember. Plenty of brutal kills await, Kratos is really pissed now. This game is gonna be awesome.

I haven't finished watching the video yet, but I want to add a tip since I saw you struggle with the buttons placements when having a mini game and the button you should press pops on right left bottom or top, it's the same as the controllers button layout, so left is square, up is triangle, right is circle and bottom is x.
this makes it easier so you shouldn't even look at the button you can enjoy the cinematics of Kratos killing it without looking at what button actually it is and missing out on stuff.
