I just purchased today for $1,400 off of Craigslist a 1967 ct90 runs fantastic. Brake lights don't work, the air filter is not mounted as of yet. but other than that I am thankfull!, I brought him down from 1800 to 1400 thankfully. now it's in my garage for more investment-😁💪
I hadn't ridden one of these since 1968 but just picked up a 1983 CT 110 with only 677 miles on it. Haven't had it off road yet but will camp with it in about 2 weeks in the Sierras east of Fresno, CA. It should make a perfect, sneak quietly through the forest bike.
We are outside of Kingsburg and have one of those. took it to tamarack ridge on a guys trip and the motorcycle guy loved it after about 10 min of riding. great for utility too. have had 2 since my great grandparents bought them in ‘68 and ‘70. the 68 was my great grandpas and was used the crap out of lol. dead reliable little bikes.
@@martialman.4563 I'm roughly 5'10'' 170-180lbs + I was carrying probably another 15-25lbs of water/gear etc.. yeah i was sitting most of the time but it was still a 'pretty steep' hill.. altitude was 4,400ft+ as well.. Area is Horse Ridge in the Badlands of Oregon halfway between Bend and Brothers.. Great little loop with pretty crazy hill climbs, a small sand pit etc.., There are several lava tube caves a few mins away, there are official OHV areas a few mins away, there's even a little 'hogans alley' town somewhere out there.. its 100% legal to be there because its public or bureau of land management land too!
Well six years later it's still good to watch. Brilliant little bike. IMHO for my bit of off roading I'd rather do it on this, than all the massive, heavy, GS's and similar- looks like fun, and, this video ,now in 2020 has become relevant again because Honda are remaking this kind of bike again, albeit only for the Japanese market for now.
Matthew Hoopes Of the 46 I've owned this would be my personal favorites 73 Suzuki GT 750, 70 Honda trail 90, 73 Honda CB 500 four, 81 Suzuki katana 750 , 74 Harley 1000 Sportster XLCH ,, 05 Harley Superglide , 74 Suzuki TS 125 74 Norton 850 Commando , 78 Triumph Bonneville 750 , 76 Yamaha RD 400. Now I could give you a historical list by their importance but these are just the ones I wish I still had and the Harley Davison 05 Dyna Superglide I still have and would never part with it
Its interesting to see the Trail 90 in low-range......I can see why that is nice to have.....your literally going so slow that the large rocks and terrain can be navigated by putting your feet down and just letting it crawl over things. My dad has an old Trail 90 just like yours that hasn't run for 30 years.......I should drag that thing out and get it running again. I've only rode it once for a very short time and it developed a scored piston so its been sitting ever since.
They are quite impressive for their small size, and very easy to ride. As silly as they look, they can be a-lot of fun. I'm not a hunter, but I've known many old deer hunters that praise these things as being able to lug large game out of the deep and narrow woods with ease. The only mod most people recommend is to replace the rectifier (behind the battery) with a modern one from radio shack.. and check the fuel tank for flakes.. If you got a flaky tank and dont want to clean it, just run some external filters from the tank and you'll be good to go. I also used to foul out spark plugs relatively quickly, so maybe carry an extra plug
Scotty - I'm interested in the rectifier mod you mentioned, and also potentially converting it to a 12v system. I am trying to find some information from anyone who's done it.
I am highly tempted to buy one. Back in college I had a CX500 and a buddy had a Trail 110 that we would let each other ride. I know how fun these would be... but then I have a big adventure bike, and atv’s, that don’t get ridden enough.
It's a gopro hero 3+ black on a chest mount. I prefer the helmet mount personally, but the chest mount is good if you don't want head movement in the video. You also have to hike the chest mount as high as possible or else the video is too low in my opinion.
In this video I dont remember, looks like 35-40mph around 0:33?.. I have had the speedo pegged (over 60mph) for over 12miles coming down a mountain hwy before.. you shoulda seen the looks on peoples faces as I passed them in the bicycle lane.. (sorry no video of that though)
Im pretty sure it was mostly 2nd and 3rd. It might have even been 3rd and 4th.. (I have a bad habit of lugging bike engines, plus the altitude was over a mile high). I probably should have kept it in 1st and 2nd
WeLiveWeDie yeah sure. I guess it all depends what you're looking for.. I wouldn't feel safe riding one on busy city streets, but its great for putting around old forest roads and trails.
Its in central oregon basically between 'skeleton cave' and 'skeleton fire' on this map: www.blm.gov/or/districts/prineville/recreation/files/horse_ridge_trailhead_map.pdf
Superb demo of a hard enduro for the CT90, well ridden sir.
With the step gear box, these are unstoppable and will out climb most of the newer bikes!

Honda ct90, taking on hills like it's nothing since 1966
Man I remember when I first got a trail 90 in like 2014 and I watched this video when it just came out....
Man! I wish they still make those! And what a view! Truly a lucky man.
Steve Mc yeah i saw it, looks promising. The only thing that lacks is the kick start.
That shit is tight. Can't wait to get mine up and running. It's been sitting in pieces going on 2 years. Shame on me. Good on you!

That is quite the spot.
I'm kinda amazed you made it the whole way while seated.
Good Video!
I wonder why you wonder that, since one cannot tell how steep anything is from wide angle cameras attached to a rider.
@@roygumpel8415 You can tell by how the engine is struggling in low range. Not sure how big rider is though.

Cool video and bike!
I've gotten up some pretty steep mountains near Tahoe. Like you're looking down at Hawks circling. Of course then you have to get back down...

Looking forward for the Hunter Cub 125
If only it had the high/low range.

Can't do the same on a Hummer. That thing can destroy a hill. The bike can climb one.
