Lyrics:
we walk in fear and trepidation
count the rows of dead
while the murderer plays his trumpet
for the ones that he has led
and theres nothing much that can be done
for we're few while you're still strong
and the big boys laugh to see such fun
and the little girl cries cos she knows whats wrong
you may think i don't know anything
you may think i've got it wrong
but i know what it means when i hear the hangman
whistling his song
and the knives so sharp in whitehall
are the knives they keep for us
and the only weapons we've got
are our hopes and fragile love
theres many pints of blood
upon the hands that rule the earth
though for every body dragged out
another one gives birth
and the children have the world one day
and i hope they use it well
and i wish their elders all the best
and i hope they burn in hell
and then the sun goes down
and leaves me with the night
where i suffer with the ghosts
and still more fright
and the mirror breaks i stand alone, alone
and i light another cigarette and drown
and the big boys laugh to see such fun
and the little girl cries cos she knows whats wrong

This and No Doves bring a man to tears - thanks Mark
A wonderful song that's been rolling around in my brain for the last three decades plus. Some of the images are in my collection, and all the others went through my scanner! Good to see them all put to good use... I always grin when I see that edition of Punk Lives with my name written on it :-)
This song is not only beautiful, but has more guts than any song I can think of. I'm guessing he was only allowed to say these things because he makes it all sound so hopeless (and he even drowns at the end). But he's also able to tell us that "the children have the world one day" and that day is coming very soon...
Where can u find the lyrics
Best thing to come out of Yeovil !

Hello mate, the missing lyric in verse 1 is "For we're few..."
Good song, but lyrics are depressing as hell. :(
Unfortunately, he was just telling the truth. But remember that the children have the world one day. :) And we WILL use it well! It will be so different and infinitely better than this insane world the "big boys" tricked everyone into helping them create.
Such is the world.
But when the children have grown up they will be the ‘big boys’.
That's The Mob
