Here are some additional tips from viewers! :)
"I've also used clear heat embossing to 'seal' the oxide before adding another layer of ink or water." Jo Griffiths
I learned the hard way that I’m allergic to the fumes from heating the plastic. Do you have to apply heat when doing this technique? Or do you just apply the Versamark and let it dry to seal?
That was a fascinating and illuminating video Natalie! Such a thorough explanation of all the different types of ink pads. And I LOVE the cards! TFS 👍💖
You are so welcome!
Just love all the techniques you use and the videos. New to me and loving them all, from New Zealand
Thanks, Robin! x
I just found your channel and just from this one video, I know I've found something great!! Love your content
Thank you! :) Welcome aboard!
When I thought your card was complete I said to myself, “ What? No gold on this one?” Because that is your signature! And out came the gold Nuvo drops! Haha! I love it! And when you topped it off with those green leaves it transformed that card to an even more gorgeous level! Love it!! Your blending tips and different ink application techniques were great also!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the card and video. x
25:11 -- The bonus cards at the end....😍🤩
Glad you like it! x
Beautiful card. Your floral die certainly makes the flower making faster.
It does indeed! :)
That was a wonderful, informative tutorial! I taught special needs students for 37 years! I can tell another great teacher and you are, indeed, another great teacher! Thank you!
Aww. Thank you so much! That's so kind. x
I wish I could hit a "love" button! Or the "like" button multiple times! I think your cards are so lovely and I now only use your smooshing method to obtain a watercolor look. If I want it less defined, I just add a bit more water so it will run together. So much more control of color placement and much less messy. You're brilliant! 🩷👍🩷👍🩷
PS: I've been using a very thin coat of Vaseline on my bookmarks made with watercolor paper and distress oxides. I applied it with a foam blender the same as you would the micro glaze. I kept them for 9 months before giving them away to confirm they didn't yellow. (They didn't.) I do not know if they're archive safe and if I were selling my projects, I would use the micro glaze. But they're just for friends and frankly, most people don't keep things forever (except for moms). 😊
Oh, I shall try that - thanks! :)
@@nbcascards The actual DIY recipes I've seen call for Vaseline (approx. 80%) and just a little bit of isopropyl alcohol (approx. 20%) mixed thoroughly. I'm guessing the alcohol helps the mixture feel less oily on paper. I didn't use the alcohol on the bookmarks because I was using a VERY thin coat on heavy watercolor paper. I didn't have to buff it because the coat was so thin. But if I were to use it on lightweight paper, I think the alcohol would be helpful to avoid soaking through or feeling oily. And I probably would wipe it down after drying a bit, to ensure there was no excess Vaseline. I hope this is of some help.
You cards are always so beautiful!! Great tutorial I just love smooching ❤

Your color choices are my favorites! I love ink smooshing. I'm going to try your ink smoosher with some thin packaging foam. Hmmm? Beautiful card!
Have fun!
That’s a very pretty card, thanks for the info. Jenny 😊
You are so welcome!
Oh, that is so pretty.
I love the way that you do the petals from a block die, so the die cuts them all out at once.
I will have to try and find one like that. Thank you xx💖
Thanks! :)
Great tutorial. Looking forward to the others. X
Many thanks! :)
I loved your instructions and your finished cards. I’d like to know more about the flower die.
Thanks so much! This is the die: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1447733240/28-flowers-petal-metal-cutting-die-card
These are lovely and so much info presented so clearly! TY. Wanted to point out that with straight smooshing, you get a (to me) noticeably different application when you put the ink on a glass mat versus a nonstick craft mat versus a piece of acetate. It’s interesting how everyone goes at the same techniques with their preferred twist!
Yep. Everyone will get different results depending on what tools they have. Thanks for sharing. x
Gorgeous card!❤
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much. I definitely learned alot and, of course, enjoyed your video. Beautiful card. TFS ❤

😍 Oooooh. Yummy! I like all versions of your card using these elements very much. So sweet. And your explanation of the different types of inks and how their properties interact with paper was the most helpful I’ve ever heard. Thank you so very much. 💕
My pleasure, as always! x

Thanks!
Brilliant Natalie, thank you.
Love the flower card too.
Thanks, Sharon! x
Thank you for this interesting video. I have only distress inks and just one oxide ink, so I really need to buy more oxide ones !! 😊
My pleasure! x
Loved❤ the bonus cards at the end too Natalie, a beautiful collection. Not crafting at mo but will be soon. 😅 your work is wonderful
Thanks, Shaz!
I enjoy the many colors of oxides but I hate the chalky finish and I prefer to blend with the distress or momento. I wish I knew that before I bought so many
I also find they get blotchy if I use them with layered stamps that have a lot of layers.
That's a shame. :(
Loved this video Natalie.. I've been a crafter for a lot of years, but I still learn. Loved that flower die too.. any chance of knowing where it's from please?? X
'Tis ok.. found it! ❤
Great!
Thanks so much! x
Gorgeous main card and loved the extra cards too! I also love the smoosher I made after watching your previous videos, have bubble wrap to made a bubble wrap smoosher too than, you so much for the ideas. Much better than regular smooshing. May I ask how you are getting on with your new cheaper grip mat please? I have a waffle flower one but I leave it my Misti as its perfect for that so i need another 🤔. Thank you. xxx💖💖💖
Thanks! The grip mat is okay. It's a little stiffer than the WF mat and not quite as sticky, but it does the job.
@@nbcascards Thank you so much for letting me know, when you decide its good enough to share the link I will have a think and then decide. Thank you again for all your wonderful videos, I have picked up so many tips and really enjoy watching them. xxx💖💖💖
Great video love the tips and card
Thanks so much!
A wonderful reference video. I've also used clear heat embossing to 'seal' the oxide before adding another layer of ink or water.
Fab tip! I'll add that to a pinned comment. :)
Lovely card and explanation of the uses of all the inks. Very useful 😊
My pleasure! x
Thank you, Natalie, for the information about the different types of ink. I had a rough idea but I am not that knowledgeable! I mainly own Memento inks but I do have a small selection of Versafine pigment inks. I need some Distress Oxides I only have 3, lol. Love your final card, very pretty, and your selection of made-off-video cards. Beautiful warm colours x
Thank you! :)
This is super helpful and I've been on the fence about whether to get the distress inks or oxides, so it was interesting to hear you gave your inks away in favour of the oxides. I'm also curious about the Catherine Pooler range, so appreciated your insight :)
Thank you! x
I love all the cards you made with those flowers!
Thanks so much!
Wow, I've learned so much from your videos and am grateful. Thankyou 😊
My pleasure! x
Thank you so much. I really learned a lot and, of course, I love your beautiful card❤
Thank you so much!
I love all the cards you make but I think these little flower ones are my favourite of them all. I assume your dies were a charity shop find but I will be looking to find something similar to use. Thank you
Thanks! This is the die: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1447733240/28-flowers-petal-metal-cutting-die-card
Great series!
Where did you purchase your coloured blenders from? I would like to find these in colours, so much easier to grab and blend.
They're from Amazon: amzn.eu/d/2RuDor3
What is the company and name of the little flower die?
Here you go: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1447733240/28-flowers-petal-metal-cutting-die-card
Where do you get your sticky mat from please
My main grip mat is from Waffle Flower.
