The fun thing is that most of the people who are working on this new park used to be Imagineers at Disney. Many of them got super frustrated with Disney when they kept scaling back the projects they designed, so many of them moved down the road to Universal, where their creativity can really shine.

@@genericuser4162yea because you went during christmas… the one thing I’ll give disney is that their christmas decor is much more festive and for families who only go once in a lifetime they usually pick holidays like that so obviously it’s going to be more full, as a local who goes to the parks often disney is either A. disgustingly busy it’s unpleasant to be in (usually during school breaks) or B. pretty freaking empty every other time of year. Not to mention Disney has been filling their parks extremely over capacity on occasion it’s become a genuine health hazard, universal has better ride turnout times which equals more space and people spread out all over the park instead of once concentrated area like disney usually is.

Universal have been crippling Disney for a while now. Harry Potter, Marvel, Jurassic Park/World, Transformers, Minions, Shrek, Dr Seuss, Bourne, ET, Men In Black, The Simpsons, The Mummy, Fast & Furious, King Kong - with Zelda and Pokemon strongly rumoured for 2025. Disney literally cannot compete with them once Epic Universe opens and adds Dragon, Dark Universe and Mario to the Roster.
Disney couldn't even open a competing park now if they tried - they've killed all interest in their major IP's. The only chance they had of competing with this was the Star Wars Park, and they blew it by themeing it after the Sequel Trilogy. They could have had a fully-realized Tatooine, complete with an authentic Cantina serving alcohol, Jabba's Palace bar & restaurant, and thrilling Pod-Racing roller coasters. Instead, they gave us a 2billion dollar hotel based on that casino from The Last Jedi for 4 Grand per night, and a dull park lacking most of the iconic elements from the movies, such as familiar locations, popular characters, and the John Williams music.

Universal's always had different zones. They go all-out for Hallowe'en by using props and costumes they have in storage from actual films. Major 'Harry Potter'/'How To Train Your Dragon'/Universal Monsters/video game/etcetera sections was there when I was there over a decade ago. Yes, with big gardens and such. There was also a proper Main Street thing, which looked just like a huge classic Hollywood street, complete with the DeLorean outside, where you could photograph yourself alongside it.
It's probably more of a marketed make-over and slight expansion for what they already have, but I wouldn't say it's radically new for them or anything.

My friend, this isnt just a slight retheme and expansion. They arent touching any of their old parks, This is an entirely new resort that is just shy of doubling their current size.
Uni Orlando currently has two theme parks, the Citywalk shopping center, and multiple hotels.
The new Epic Universe park is almost exactly the same size of EVERYTHING they currently have.
This is a huge deal for Universal

    • @Xenomorphine
      @Xenomorphine Рік тому

@@Teachworth01 It may well be a new location, but I was pointing out that the announcement of these 'zones' is no different to what they had in 2010. They had zones dealnig with the same themes in Orlando, back then. It was the time the 'Terminator 2 3D' ride was doing its last run.
Just the existence of the zones, by themselves, (which is what H seemed to be wowed by) is nothing really new.
Not saying it won't be impressive as a new resort, just that it won't be the "Disney-killer" he's making it out to be, beause they've done the same concept already.

Classic rides like Journey into imagination and their fantasy land in Disney world destroyed. The costs are just not worth it anymore. Its not as magical as it was in the 90s. This has been in the works for ages, I much prefer Universal Studios but to say families will go to Universal over Disney and kill it is deluded.
For example Epcot has been crap for decades, they put minimal effort in and the tourists still flood there.
Families going to Orlando 100% go to Disney, Universal is the other park they might go to. The new park will obviously increase revenue for Universal but the Disney parks are enormous, you only have to look at Google maps to see the scale of the parks compared to Universal.

This channel has a massive agenda against Disney. This park won’t destroy Disney at all, it will help Universal close the gap though. The Disney parks in Orlando are a 2-week holiday by themselves, the Universal parks 2 days at most. So no, as someone who visits the Disney & Universal parks every few years, these new Universal parks will not ‘destroy’ Disney, but it will help them to close the gap.

"This channel has a massive agenda against Disney." Shill. Even if you say "I'm not a Disney defender", it still doesn't help your comment at all.

Well what does Disney have in their plans? Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Test Track Reimagined, new Country Bear Jamboree, I can’t see much else. Universal on the other hand has a whole new theme park in Orlando opening up next year, they also have the dream works land replacing Woody Woodpecker’s kidzone, they have plans for a new park in Britain, they have that Kids park in Texas coming up. I don’t know man, Universal really has an opportunity to take away a good share from Disney. And this is coming from someone who’s been going to Disney a lot lately.

That's objectively not true. The investment Disney is putting into their parks is tiny, this is a brand new park. People like new things. So yes, this absolutely has the chance to destroy Disney's hold on the parks business. To say otherwise shows a bias.
Your comment shows you didn't even watch the video, the new park is a seven day holiday destination. Ffs at least watch the video before you comment

Furthermore, yes, I have a bias against Disney, I don't have to be impartial 😂 you're saying it like it's a gotcha, no bud. And again, there is objective truth to what was said here.

@@MrHReviews I watched your video to the end and heard all that, Disney’s films have been shit in recent years, but their parks were still a step above Universal’s when I last visited. I imagine Universal’s investment will close the gap, as I already said. My comment is merely that this new park won’t ’destroy Disney’, as you said several times, and I get why because a lot of people probably love hearing that. Universal’s 2 current theme parks in Orlando are essentially 1 park, since they’re joined and offer very similar experiences (half of Harry Potter is on one site while the other is on the other site and they connect via the Hogwarts Express - they literally want you to see these parks in the same day). You can see most of what they have to offer in a single day if you travel off season. Day 2 you go to the water park, then you’re pretty much done with Universal’s parks until your next trip. With this new park you get an extra day at Epic Universe, so an awesome 3-day holiday. Meanwhile, Disney have 4 parks, they’re far apart and you’re usually too knackered to see more than 1 park a day, though you can travel to each via complimentary bus, ski lift style skyliner or a monorail, each has a very different identity and the 2 water parks are dope. I don’t know what investments Disney have planned, but they made massive investment with Avatar land, Toy Story Land, Star Wars land and a shit tonne spent on Epcot a few years ago, and they added the skyliner, so now it’s just Universal’s turn. I’m excited to check out Universal’s new park. My comment wasn’t even meant as an ‘ah, gotcha”. I’ve watched the original Epic Universe video, they aren’t saying Epic Universe is a 7-day park, they mean this park along with their existing parks makes Universal Orlando a 7-day resort.
