Mayor London Breed of San Francisco Welcomes New Director of the Greek Sister City Program

Last night, we celebrated the vibrant Sister City relationship between Thessaloniki, Greece, and San Francisco.
As the newly appointed Director of the Thessaloniki-SF Sister City Program, Vas Kiniris, who hails from Greece, will be instrumental in continuing to strengthen the relationship. His efforts, alongside those of Grigorios Tassiopoulos, the newly arrived Consul General of Greece in San Francisco, will promote cultural exchange between the two cities. Though distinct in many ways, both cities are united by their deep appreciation for art, music, and cuisine.
To welcome the new Consul General and celebrate Vas’s appointment, we gathered for a festive evening filled with Greek wines-rosé, white, and red-and a feast of Greek specialties like spanakopita, lamb chops, lamb skewers with tzatziki, and stuffed grape leaves. Even Mayor London Breed and Senator Scott Wiener joined the celebration, and our host was the legacy restaurant, John’s Grill, which has been in operation since 1908! Congrats to all!
